Loved the original version when I was a kid in the 70’s and love this new version. Well done to the whole team that worked on this. The cast was magnificent well done. Don’t expect it to be like the old album, just listen to it with new ears. You will not be disappointed.
This audible drama is the very best WOTW adaptation I've heard, this put on screen would be amazing.

The thing is, the changes he makes are actually good! Unlike most people he improves on it. This 5 hour and maybe a half long audio drama brings everything I love about the musical and the book into one, it's great IMO.

This audio book, a 5+ hours derivative of Jeff Wayne's rock opera, is a must for the aficionados. I listened to it once, and I'm listening to it again, now after having listened to original H.G. Well's book in one of the many renditions available at Audible.
Will be an interesting listen but Jeff needs to get the rights to The Massacre of Mankind and do a musical sequel
I don't see why not. If you've read the book you notice shit-tons of references in there to the Musical version rather than just the previous book, such as character's names alluding to the original actors.

Big Finish did The Martian Invasion of Earth and Sherwood Sound Studios did The Coming of the Martians.

I absolutely loved this adaptation of The War of the Worlds. Its been played several times on long car journeys. Highly recommended!

There is now a VR tour in London of the story with parts of the album and live actors ;)
@@Indoor_Carrot have you been yet? It's very good. On its last year allegedly, so I'm going back in the summer. It's a shame that it's not going to be easily transferred to another location when it closes and the vr footage will probably be lost.

Why was Tom baker not considered for this? He would have been brilliant.
I've heard he's difficult to work with.
He probably did not have a well aligned work schedule. Neil Gaiman himself mentions that it’s very difficult to get all the big name actors to align perfectly with a unified schedule for his own projects.
Tom Baker was also 85 at the time this was released. Would he have been up to it?

i wanna see a jeff wayne WotW movie, i reckon it would be better than the one featuring tom cruise because that was in the modern eura for some reason and its the americans picking up a british thing
It made sense that It was in America because it’s set in the modern day, I don’t like the film but at the time of the book Britain was the worlds superpower however now it’s America

I hate amazon so much and the scummy bellends they are, but I couldn't bring myself to immediately skip this audible ad I got and I had to watch the first words that's said in the beginning of the War of the Worlds
