I have one and a few other phones collected over the years I do plan to use it as an iPad especially since they aren't making ipods anymore I listen to music and podcasts a lot and like the idea of having a device totally dedicated to music like back in the day. A big thing often not mentioned is how good audio quality and ability to push your headphones to the limit is on these phones or ipods its awesome

Even though I'm not the biggest apple fan, i have to say that the iPhone 4, is an AMAZING phone for 2010! It COMPLETELY changed! It's a whole new modern makeover compared to the 3GS. IOS 7 is also a huge modern change! The iPhone 4 is actually still compatible with a few apps, and it still loads and you can still do internet browsing! Well done, Apple! The iPhone was really important. I remember having it in 2017, i know it was pretty old back then (equivalent to an iPhone 6 now), but i actually really liked it and it worked just fine. Obviously don't get it as your main phone, unless you like to live a rather simple life and you want to have a very simple and old phone.

I had planned to get an iPhone 4 in mint condition from OfferUp for only $40 but I realized I needed a Windows XP computer to downgrade to iOS4. And I remembered that iOS4 does NOT have AsssistiveTouch which came out by iOS6. This is useful because both the home button and power button can get stuck after years being stored away.
I ended up getting a black 4S from eBay instead. Only paid $53 for it. Came with 16 GB and it was sealed. I think I made the better choice. While I loved my launch day 4 when I had it for 3 years (2010-2013), the 4S is just better. Same GPU as the PS Vita and 7x faster than the 4's. It came with iOS6, so I still got my Scott Forstall's skeuromorphic design with CoverFlow.
My 4S is still decent enough to use for podcasts, music, and light browsing via Opera Mini. I'm aware how dated it really is being nearly 12-years-old. And the power button on mine seems to be stuck. But it's great to have once in a while because it feels so good in one hand. I'll bring it along once in a while with my X and SE3 because battery life on it is better than on my SE1 and 7.
The iPhone 4/4S are easily two of the best iPhones ever made and arguably the best iPhone design next to the 5/5S/SE1 design. It's incredible to hold and look at 12-13 years later. Such a timeless design.
The 4S was actually a substantial upgrade from the 4 just based from the SoC. Don't believe what Simple Alpaca that it wasn't a major upgrade because it was. Had 4 slits to rid of Antennagate. Had the far improved A5 chip. It wasn't just a 4 with Siri. It got upgraded to iOS9 while the 4 only got to iOS7. Camera was also improved on the 4S.
I loved my iPhone 4 when I had it. I miss it. But I'm glad I went with getting the 4S again over the 4 because I remember the days when the 4 would lag playing Subway Surfers and Candy Crush back in 2012-2013. I couldn't believe how laggy it got after only 3 years.
My 4S was able to download a few games I had stored in my account like Big Dai Di, Plants vs. Zombies 1, and Sonic All-Star Racing which needs an older firmware to play it. I'm very happy just using it as an iPod. And the transition with CoverFlow is smooth unlike my first 4S I got 2 years ago. That eMMC will eventually lag over time.

I still use that first 9 at least weekly. My G5's battery is completely dead and have no urge to buy another one because battery life dies quickly anyway. Snapdragon 820 was not very efficient.
I'm planning to get the Unihertz Tank and I expect that to be my new #1 with the 40-hours of SOT. I can watch UA-cam for at least 3 hours and it will only drain like 2%. That will be my way transitioning to only niche rugged phones with battery capacity over 20,000 mAh. I'd rather get that Unihertz over a Surface Duo and Z Fold 4. I'm tired of charging my phones every day.
I recently found my old 5S - my very first iPhone, and it's in NM condition. Always willing to consider offers btw. Nothing special about it, but it's 100% fully functional. It was cool to check out again, but things have changed so much since then that the 5S isn't even a phone that should be considered in 2023, let alone an iPhone 4! lol

one day the iPhone 4 will probably make more sense than the 4s, it's the latest presented by Steve Jobs and probably the one with the most innovations, iMessage, facetime, front facing camera, flash, retina display, tile shape, iron frame and glass back (it was glass, wasn't it?). i miss the excitement of those iphones and the jailbreak, as a teenager in early high school I'd always tweak it, so much fun.
oh, also another smartphone which came out with the iPhone 4 was the Nokia N8. Ofc it couldn't be compared to the iphone but in the camera and file management, but that phone was fucking beautiful. if I had a collection like you, it would be the first one I would recover.

Its Funny to look at this Phone now but one have to remember when it came out it was revolutionary . The design was brand new. this was the last phone Steve jobs worked on, Steve also approved the final design of the iPhone 5 but he didn’t really do any work on it before he passed
this was the best phone in the world back then when it came out, it had a Retina display and allowed for FaceTime calls

the worth of the phone should not be based on what year. but on what price you pay... for me the price of the iphone14 is not worth. the iphone4 is still usable for callling and sms. i would trade my 5 bucks for it.
I don't need to know how many years old iPhone 4 is, as long as I'm still using possibly very well. There is a great point to IPhone 4. There is the reason why Apple is always going to the first top of competition between all the companies cellphone nowadays. Apple never make me disappointed.

I luckily still have that phone. I would only use it just incase my parents takes my phone or lose it around the house. The screen is cracked in the top corner right and it has survived for 11 years.
so i have fought using spotify many years now and till super recently kept using a iphone 4 as a ipod ... and so often i wish i could just use it as a phone (it is locked) i love how small it is... and im not picky about call quality or text speed ...im the guy that thinks about going back to a flip phone every once in a while so i wish more phones were like the iphone 4

Most major US carriers killed of 3G last year but in other places you don't have much to worry about (the UK is shutting down 2G and 3G in 2033, by which phones like the iPhone 4 will be 23 years old!

Many modern day apps aren’t supported anymore and you’ll need atleast an iPhone 6S for modern day apps. Calling will depend as the 4 only has 3G and I’m not sure if 3G has shutdown in Europe yet.

I don’t think buying a 4 is great for business use to this day. The oldest iPhone I’d say is still fine to use would probably have to be the iPhone 6S. The 5S and 6 aren’t bad either but I’d rather go for a 6S.

If you want unlock them. You should buy a chip card unlocked. It's very cheap if you buy it online. Oppositely, if you want bring them go to the repair store cellphone let them unlock. They might would be charge you $40 something. Don't go to the store, you can buy the chip card unlocked online, and you also unlock phone yourself too. It's easy to unlock it.

How are you getting cell service on it? I have one and I use it for iMessage/Facetime by connecting to wifi. Can't get service for it at all.
@@macri6675 really. That's surprising. Mines locked ro vodaphone so I'm on vodaphone. Depending on your carrier you will or wont get service as some carriers have already phased out 3g services sadly.
