Great ideas Luke A massive thank you for thanking us NHS staff and all the other great key workers, but I would love to thank everyone who has stayed at home as they’ve made life so much easier for everybody, I do know how hard it’s been, I’ve not seen my Mum in weeks as she’s in a care home and my Dad is self isolating due to age and health conditions, so like you I shop for the family n neighbours on my days off Thank you for your inspirational videos keep up the great work💖
I honestly don’t think everyone realises how important food is at a time like this. Not only does it keep our key workers going on their long shifts, but it’s the *one* thing that brings us together as a nation, it always has done & it always will do! It brings us comfort, makes us smile, brings family together in an evening.. food is bloody amazing. As an ex retail worker I salute all retail staff because I know how tough it gets, & that’s pre-pandemic! My grandfather contracted TB, lived well into his 80’s smoking like a trooper with one lung haha! But he not only wasn’t accepted into the army during WWII because of his medical history, but he played an important role in keeping family’s & soldiers fed - he was a farmer his entire life, as was his brother. My mum grew up driving tractors & helping him pick potatoes; food keeps morale going for sure. Fantastic haul, & life is far too short to make pastry from scratch.. even during a pandemic, Mary Berry agrees - at least with puff! Haha! Xx
Thank you so much for such a lovely comment Laura. I couldn't agree more about food, it truly is one of the only comforts we have right about now. I agree on the retail front too, I come from a retail and hospitality background so I can fully appreciate too how challenging these industries are. A HUGE respect to each of the workers who go out to ensure food gets to our tables. X
Great planning and shopping and you are absolutely right to thank the great people working in supermarkets and keeping us all going I am very grateful I use my local shop to they are amazing too xxxx
I don’t do the food shop as I need to take extra care but I showed this to my carer who said it was excellent. The only tip I’d give is to take your veg and fruit out of the plastic bags as much as you can because it makes your food sweat and go off quicker if you don’t. Great tip about the kale x
Ahh that is so kind Jane, I hope you are doing well. That's what we have started to do now, all the peppers, tomatoes etc go directly into the fridge after they're washed. We have noticed such a difference x
I’ve started writing the shopping list in order of the store layout as well, it’s so much easier and means you don’t miss stuff out! Worth the 5 mins beforehand
I need a meal planner, what a great idea. Thank you for thanking the store employees! As a nurse I’m getting a lot of love right now, but there’s so many deserving “essential” workers that need to be appreciated too. Thanks for using your platform to give them all a shout out! ❤️❤️❤️
Great video 👍 I just uploaded my Sainsbury's shop video but was so expensive, will definitely be changing it up for next week . On the note section in your phone there is an option where you can tick it off each item I find that super helpful!
Perfect, only what you need and saving for others. Hope to see some more cooking/baking videos soon. Cheers to all the workers who provide essential services 🥂👏🏻🥰
A great help this video thank you. I always do my shopping list of the order they are in the shops until they move stuff around that is lol. Have a food week Luke and stay safe. Life to Zara xxxx
My teenage son and daughter both work at petrol station, so they are always out at work in these strange times we find ourselves in. Price of petrol has plummeted too. I am proud of my little workers and a little worried at times. 😁
Karen bless them both such a proud mum and in these worrying time’s I too have a son and daughter obviously much older than your son and daughter but must be so worrying stay well stay safe and it is thanks to them they are keeping us going 😘
Great video, it has inspired me for sure. I’m finding my food shops are going out of control, so taken some tips from you to cut down and plan a lot better!
Lovely video Luke. I sort of meal plan. We do our shopping lists like you, by where the stuff is in the store. Currently using Sainsburys and Aldi depending on what we need, we only shop every 7 to 10 days. The OH does our shopping as I have asthma so I'm staying put in the house. It's like a military operation getting it in, unpacked and washed down. 😂 😂
Thank you so much Kaz. I have to do a little top up of the bits I can't find in Aldi, but it is never much. Ahh I couldn't agree more, we are doing the exact same. It feels odd but great once it is done x
I love how organised you are! This is definitely something I'll be implementing straight away. As always, watching your videos always gives me fresh inspiration. X
Great tips as always 👍🏼 ... I make a shopping list on my phone too... not sure if you know but the little symbol at the bottom with the circle and a tick means you can put this at the start of each item and tick it off as you go ✅ Just makes things easier and quicker for me, so wanted to pass it on 😊

You got a lot at a great price! I have to do my shopping list on how the shop is laid out as you can't go back if you forget something because it is sectioned off!
We love Aldi for this, it’s so affordable. We have the same, they’ve implemented a one way system so you have to get what you can. I hope you’re keeping well x
I do not meal plan just open the fridge, pantry & freezer & make my choice. I admire people who do this. You are super organised. I am also doing online shopping using instacart. I freeze both Kale & Spinach.
Love this Luke. My shopping receipts can get pricey as I’m quite fussy about some things (Burford Brown eggs only please - they are the best!) and I’m also trying to go as plastic free as possible so mainly buy fruit, veg and salad loose which does limit options and often more expensive. I’m not perfect though-sometimes the lure of a punnet of strawbs is too much and it’s really hard to just buy seasonal when I want my imported 🥑!
Thank you so much Julie. I couldn’t agree more, food is one of life’s joys so if you find what you love to eat, it’s worth every penny. Ahh this is a great ethos! I really wish Aldi did less plastic packed fruit & vegetables. They’re getting better for sure x
Loved the video luke at the moment I don't mind the wrapping on food because sometimes in the supermarket people handling food no gloves or the gloves are filthy I've even been buying frozen veg for that reason be safe. X♡
Tip: on the notes section there is actually a to do list it’s the icon at the bottom with a tick sign and as you go around the supermarket you can just mark it off when it’s in the basket! 👍🏽
Very useful video, thanks Luke! Just a quick tip.. I use the reminders app to make my shopping list. Things are easy to move around to “categorise” (although you can’t really put headings in I suppose, but I tend to group the list in the same way as you find items in the shop) but then as you shop you can mark off each item and it disappears.. 😊
I wish i could keep my cu boards tidy like your Luke ,bought some storage baskets for them this weekend silly me to big they dont fit grrr but they will come in handy for somewhere else love your blogs..

Ahh fantastic! I will have to look into that, we have been using the Pink Stuff and it has been so much nicer to use than Ovenbright. Thank you so much for the tip Jean x
HI there Luke as a vegan just wanted to tell you about awesome company called odd box every week they deliver fruit and veg that would have otherwise been wasted go check it out last week i got a celeriac as one of the veg it encourages you to try things you may not normally purchase , it is also great for those of us who have a wealth of cookery books to and want to consume wisely , stay safe my friend
Ahh I have heard so much about Odd box, I was really intrigued! That is such a great idea, now more than ever. I think I will absolutley look into it, it sounds brilliant. Thank you so much Lisa. You too x
@@LukeCatleugh Thank you ! Yes, I am very proud of her. She always go to work happy, willing, and works longer hours if they need her to. Some days its a 12 hour day. She,and all necessary workers are amazing ! :D Stay safe !💗
Super clean fridge and well done on your comments re cleaning the products before you store them - (been doing this for 30 years and people wondered why)Good man people will listen to you....
Exactly, I remove all vegetables and fruits from plastic, wash them thoroughly under running water multiple times including tins, throw plastic in bins straightaway, dry vegetables and fruits before putting them away. Wipe all door handles, keys, wallet or purse, shoes, mobile every single thing as soon as I enter home. Too much work but it's worth!
I couldn't agree more Adele. We are removing as much as we can from packaging the minute it comes in the house. I do sanitise my hands before and after too.
Greetings from HOT California today 😝 I really need to rewatch this a few times, we’re retired and now have zero excuse to not meal plan. It just always seemed such a daunting task while I was working. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Luke! I’ve learned so much from you. Came back to ask a question, what is salad cream? Salad dressing or do you mix it with anything? Thanks so much!
Hey Julie! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Meal planning has helped us so much. We are both trying to save as much as possible for a house, so any saving is a bonus. I hope you have a lovely week. London seems to have gotten rainy so I am very envious of your sun. Salad Cream is like a more vinegar based mayonnaise, it's made with less oil. It is an acquired taste but Zara loves it x
The Greek Yoghurt is perfect for a refreshing soup. You mix the yoghurt with one egg, one tablespoon of flour, veggie stock, water, a hand full of rice and dried mint together and let it simmer on the stove on low heat. It is delishious.
Love.your vids Luke .. just to say, I'm currently recovering from coronavirus. I'm certain I picked it up whilst shopping, then touching my face, also Aldi are the only supermarket near me, who ask us to spray our own trolleys etc ... that trigger on the spray .. full of germs. I'm so careful, but one schoolgirl error let me down, and trust me, it's a HORRIBLE virus. Carry on being careful, love watching you xx
Ahh I am so sorry to hear this Lindsay, I am so glad you have recovered. I agree, it does seem odd when Waitrose staff are cleaning them for the customers. I think it does increase the risk. I am sending all the positivity your way x
Also, categorising the list by layout of store is PERFECT when you really don't want to be spending any more time than usual in public places. I do exactly the same!
Thank you so much Carol. It is a joyous experience! Shakshuka is so tasty! I haven't had that in the longest time, I will add that to our meal plan next week for sure x
I'm glad you're doing okay and thanks for sharing. I told mr. C he should have a cocktail Vlog on his birthday. Maybe you could encourage that idea. You are a very kind person. Oh and you might find this funny. When you said you had a pound for the trolley first of all I'm from the US we don't know what a pound is or how much it's worth that's what I mean and then I thought you have to take a trolley to get to your Aldi? Then I realized you meant the shopping cart in Aldi LOL and then it was funny that you call it loo paper. I'm not sure if I spelled that right. We don't do metric over here either so we are never up on your degrees outside what are your measurements. But I follow along as best I can. What is salad cream?
Hey Janie! Thank you so much for such a lovely comment! We organised Mr C a little gin delivery for his birthday! Virtual cocktails will 100% be a thing. Haha sorry that wasn't clear, yes it's like our shopping token. I do need to get one of the re-usable ones. Salad cream is a more acidic mayo, it's got more vinegar than oil. It's an acquired taste but Zara loves it x
Great video - I am amazed at the quantity you got from Aldi and certainly very good. I saw someone on you tube describing their food box purchase for £35-44 from different supermarkets and what a RIP OFF! The funny part of the video is that they were completely satisfied with their rip off box...lol. You appear to have got a great deal and the products are good too. since I cook a lot myself I make my own food from ingredients. Most householders buy the nasty meal prep'd food and fatty foods. I am due to go to ALDI to get hopefully some baking ingredients which I am not able to get from any supermarket for the last 2.5 weeks since selfish, a**holes bulk buy for themselves. It shows how greedy most Brits are.
Are you really sure you are not a Virgo? Lol. You might wanna check your birth certificate again, just to make sure 😄 All the weekly menus, great organizing skills, schedules and lists are what I and most other Virgos live by on a daily basis for sure. Very nice menu, looks delicious. So nice of you to thank all the workers that are keeping the stores open and working in not so secure places. My hubby is an essential worker so he's working 70 hours a week. I don't even step outside! Hope they find a cure for this soon. Y'all have a nice weekend. From the Southeast coast of Florida 🌴😎💙😎🌴
Hahah this made me laugh Elizabeth! I recently did some reading into my star sign and I do have a rising sun of Virgo, so that explains a lot haha! 70 hour weeks, that sounds like a mammoth task! He has my upmost respect. I hope you are all keeping safe x
Hi Luke, hope you and Zara are both doing OK. For shopping list try Listonic app - it's really useful, it categorises your shopping and also you can send the list via e-mail and share it. 😊 All the best and greetings from Poland 😀
Love these video's. An extra sanitary tip for after a grocery shop is to clean your mobile phone and bankcard with eau de cologne. The cheap kind they sell in supermarkets are great as they contain 65% alcohol. Disclaimer: your phone will smell like it's been hiding in a granny's purse for days 😂 And for those who are scared to buy a fresh loaf of bread. In France they advise to put it in the oven for 10 min on 100°C. Those are mine tips, would love to hear other tips. Let's keep each other safe ❤️
you touched every item of food, coffee machine, handles on cupboard, goods inside cupboard, you said you were going to wipe goods before putting away, please be careful
Great ideas Luke

We ended up doing this Lorraine, thank you so much for the tip x
Damn you have your shit together. I'm fairly organised but this is next level. Great video.
Perfect 👍🛍😘😘
Where I live I live in Alaska that amount of groceries those specific groceries would have cost me well over a hundred you have such cheap food there
Which Aldi do you go to? I love aldi but the one near me is a nightmare!
I go to the one in Streatham, however I used to go to one in Elephant & Castle and it was chaotic too.
Hi ! Good Meal Plan & KISSES
Thank you so much Fabrice
What about TFL Staff.....
Hey! It was a holistic thank you, to any and all workers who are working through this.
I think the day I find flour I will cry too 😂😂..Great haul xx
It really was a joyous occasion!
Great video 👍🏼
Thank you os much Yvonne
Hey Luke.. great content thanks! You must add @rachealama cook book!
Great video
Hi Luke, hope you and Zara are both doing OK. For shopping list try Listonic app - it's really useful, it categorises your shopping and also you can send the list via e-mail and share it. 😊 All the best and greetings from Poland 😀
Listonic sounds amazing! thank you so much. Thank you so much for such a great tip. I hope you are doing well in Poland x
Nice video
Thank you Caroline!
Love these video's.
An extra sanitary tip for after a grocery shop is to clean your mobile phone and bankcard with eau de cologne. The cheap kind they sell in supermarkets are great as they contain 65% alcohol.
Disclaimer: your phone will smell like it's been hiding in a granny's purse for days 😂
And for those who are scared to buy a fresh loaf of bread. In France they advise to put it in the oven for 10 min on 100°C.
Those are mine tips, would love to hear other tips. Let's keep each other safe ❤️
That’s a great idea! We do have some anti-bacterial spray & kitchen roll and try to do our phones on the regular. The great tip is great 🙌🏻
