I have tried but when I try to twist it, the layers brakes..
There is nothing to add between the layers?

Hi Onyxiz, great job man, my question: What kind of gas flame / torch do you use, mine has too cold flame, couldnt fireforge the metals.

when you are heating the pieces together. do you hammer them together as in bladesmithing? do you have to have a mill? did you put solder in between the pieces?

Did you use boraх for welding and had you contract the multilayer package one time or repeated the procedure several times?

Я делаю немного по другому. Сваренные пластины осаживаю в круглой матрице, получаю цилиндр. Затем выдавливаю на прессе из него стакан. Стенки его разворачиваю, получается как древесина.

I would like to try too, but I don’t know if the platinum can weld with gold because the melting temperature is very different, 960 degrees for gold and 1760 for platinum..
I would like to try with white gold but I don’t know if it can works. Anyway I’m so interested in.

Loved the work! Quick question, does copper stains or goes black when you use it? I really want to try this technique, but I don't have the courage to do it with gold yet.

    • @MM-ky3qe
      @MM-ky3qe 6 років тому +1

      Hi
Yes, the copper will turn black when worn. you want to do it gold is best try a few times copper and silver so you will gain some experience. it would be great if you put a movie on youtub, maybe I will learn something.
With gold, it is very important that surfaces are very well degreased.
I wish you good luck wedding rings

I made one out of silver and copper for my brother. It turned out way better than I expected but the copper makes his finger green unfortunately lol

I thought so. What i think would be the best solution is doing 2 rings, a regular silver and a mokume gane. The silver one being the size you need and the other just enough to go on the outside. Then solder both rings together and voila. You have a mokume gane look on the outside but on the inside there's silver, so it won't stain your fingers.

I would love to do it with gold, but I'm just starting to practice jewelry more as a hobby than as a job and it would be too expensive just to try it.

      hi
yes, the copper during the apparition turns black
best to do it all in gold or platinum

      Hello

I had 0.4 mm thick strips
      6 mm wide
