I am almost in tears. My whole life as a kid I wanted to go see a game at tigers stadium but we never had enough money, as a adult I moved away saying I would go see a game there, then I heard they were tearing it down. It's like a piece of my childhood is being torn down. I didn't get to go see a game there. This sucks!! RIP I guess.
really, i never knew that about the stadiums, same day as the titanic!! thats wild, its also my bithday and im from michigan and saw many games at tiger stadium back in the 70s and 80s.
i grew up 6 block from the old tiger stadium was a big part of childhood been to the stadium many times sad to see it go some say make way for the future but the old stadium was huge and important of the city part of what made up the sity's idenity really wish it didn't go
Whatever, the new ballpark is awesome. The old place was part of my childhood and I still hang out in corktown. The old Detroit is history and we need to move on and make Detroit a better place to live. The Bird is the word.
I saw Reggie Jackson's monster home run here on TV for the 1971 All-Star game. It struck the light tower on the right field roof. It would easily have gone 600 feet or more if it did not hit anything.
You guys keep talking about the new ball park and how nice it is. Tiger Stadium had so much significance throughout the years! I dont think we'll ever see a Babe Ruth ever play at Comerica Park. You understand what I'm trying to say?
Am I wrong, or what?? I was in Detroit in 2003. And I was infront of stadium, where are big tigers statues. So, is that this place which I'm watching on video, or there are two tigers stadium? Because, as I can remember, it look great back than!! Sad, I can imagine yours feeling!!
1- they were unsure what they are going to do with it 2- they allowed groups to try to come up with monies to try to salvage some of it 3- demolition costs a lot and we all know detroit isn't loaded with money anymore due to economy and kwame's party spending :-)
the city should've put money into that. even though detroit isnt as wealthy as it used to be. but still i love the way that stadium is shaped. did they take out the original home plate? like put it a baseball museum? they should've kept maintence on that. if they can restore it and turn it into a stadium i would go there make my parents take to the city an wear my a's stuff lol .
Well, that's good. I saw couple videos about Detroit fallin a parts, and I thougt: It can't be that new stadium, it is so bad!! But, anyway I understand you, In Zagreb are demolitions of old buildings, and then they build new building, and they look similar, everithing gets uglyer!!
i hate to see this! i loved this place i have only been to the new park 2 times and will never go back. the seating sucks your to far from the feild and it to inpersonal. and its not a real ball park like the old one.

@1981CrueHead The typo is irrelevant. Tiger stadium is gone. Thats whats important.
