I was a stalker for this song! I called the radio station DJ so many times he knew my voice immediately! I’m so happy I get to see what they look like after so long just hearing them! Thanks guys! ❤️🐈
One thing I'm curious about: Now we’re doing a hundred and twenty As fast as I could go The Rambler pulled along side of me As if we were going slow The fellow rolled down his window And yelled for me to hear “Hey, Buddy, how can I get this car Out of second gear!” Is that saying the reason why the guy was following him was so he could ask him how to get his car out of second gear, or did the "second gear" thing have to do with them going so fast?
You're joking right? The point is that the Cadillac was flat out, as fast as he could go, while the Rambler was "only" in second gear. If he could find high, he'ld leave the Caddy in his dust. (Not realistic tho)
There needs to be a parody of this about someone having gas all the time. Beep, beep. (Beep! Beep!) Beep, beep. (Beep! Beep!) My butt went beep beep beep (Beep! Beep!)
This is what people are like where I live, (and probably where a lot of people live) always tailgating, trying to make you go faster. For the guy who wanted to pass me, He kept on tooting his horn. Beep! Beep! I'll show him that a Cadillac is not a car to scorn. If it were me, I'd change that last line to "Now I am gonna make him wish that he was never born.".
Quite a treat after all these years to see these guys perform this song. And they do a hell of a job - LIVE. Great group with swell harmonies.
I pass by a little Nash on my way home from work and think of this song... :)
I’m 68 now and used to listen to on an LP record when I was 5. Loved this song ❤

I loved listening to this on Dr Demento. when did this air on Ed Sullivan?
I think it aired on Miltom Byrle Show 1958?
Watch the 2018 movie starring Florence Pugh in 'Malevolent', this song is playing during eerie scenes.😮😮
Hey buddy how can I get this car out of second gear?
Beep beep

Wouldn't want to be in the audience when performed live.
