I saw Bernie on this tour. I remember hanging around for a chat, and he gave me one of his Fender plectrums, and the empty wine bottle he'd been drinking from. The label was autographed by the band. I've still got them both, and are treasured possessions. We became friends, and would always chat at gigs. He promised to donate a solo to a fund raising album we're making, but sadly time beat us so it didn't happen. Always me hero
I first saw him 06.03.80 @ Newcastle City Hall. His first solo gig after Gillan at the Uni was brilliant! sadly the cassette I bought and got autographed is no more.....big miss on the gigging circuit is Mr Torme - was always a great night
//!I don't think I missed a Gillan gig in Newcastle since he joined the band. One of my fav memories is they started Secret of the Dance and they just kept playin and playing the intro until Ian came on....what an amazing build up! Bernie sold it more by looking at the rest of the band as if WTF is going on....could have been true, maybe Ian was doing a Ritchie??!
Bernie Torme...brilliant guitarist, icon, and very humble.

Brilliant! I was lucky enough to see Bernie with Gillan back in 1981. Such a sad loss!

Being from the states I never was able to go to the Marquee but I am well aware of the place. Wish I could have seen a show there
Super guitarist
I was down the front for this one, somewhere in front of Chris. And for so many other Bernie gigs at the Marquee. Had the fan club video of this gig.
you still have that video? be great to see it!
@@metalig I think I passed it on to Bernie via someone else when he was putting a live video together. Had a cassette or two of gigs around then too.
@@paulweatherly3222 Ah. Lost a lot of stuff on the old VHS tapes over the years....
