There isn't enough monitoring equipment on that volcano to know what is going on, no tilt metres, gas monitors or earthquake monitors. The only information is being gathered from far away and from space but that is only updated every few days. Geologyhub says there is serious concern and people should leave the area until more is known about the risks of an eruption. Take care out there people, i hope the government actually help but i kind of doubt it sadly.
Great comment. Think Iceland without all of it's monitoring.....they're flying blind in a dangerous situation. The same forces that created the Atlantic Ocean is ripping West Africa apart, on a smaller scale. The creation of the Atlantic Ocean caused the Triassic-Jurassic extinction event. We could be seeing the beginning of a large scale eruption that will have far reaching ramifications for everyone. At best, it might make transport around the Horn of Africa and through the Suez Canal impossible. Extensive volcanic eruptions could cause climate disruptions. Not a matter of if, but when this will all happen.
There is monitoring equipment on ground, you can't get earthquake richter scale measurements from space As of 2015 the Ethiopian Seismic Network consists of 10 stations most equipped with broadband seismometers... Post then additional stations with more advanced capabilities were built with international assistance. There is of course more scope to increase monitoring and introduce more technology but they are by no means as unprepared as you might think
@@into_the_void space measurements are for uplift, which is often an indicator of an intrusion of magma. Thankfully geologyhub has done an update and the uplift is upto 41cm along the intrusion site. This doesn't mean that there will be an eurption. However proper monitoring would be almost that many stations on a single mountain but hopefully oneday the nation will be able to afford to do that.
The water must have given signs (taste, smell). Also, that so much armed civil disturbance seems to be driving families into this and other geologically active areas to farm commercial quantities (foodstuffs?) is of significance.
There is no volcanic eruption yet! What you are seeing ejecting from the ground is a steam & gaseous fumes at a very high pressure. You need to correct your reporting.
There are three main types of volcanic eruption: (it's the 3rd one that concerns you) - Magmatic eruptions are the most well-observed type of eruption. They involve the decompression of gas within magma that propels it forward. - Phreatic eruptions are driven by the superheating of steam due to the close proximity of magma. This type exhibits no magmatic release, instead causing the granulation of existing rock. - Phreatomagmatic eruptions are driven by the direct interaction of magma and water, as opposed to phreatic eruptions, where no fresh magma reaches the surface. Next time, take 30 seconds to do some research, the only one who needs correction here is you.
Good luck there.

So your point is to sound superior? Entitled? Racist?

This volcano last erupted 11,000 years ago
Is Africa splitting ?

Ironic, volcano activity is what gave Ethiopia good soil for great coffee.
You all need geology hub
Happy new year 🎉😂
Nature is angry with all its right
Angry at you?
Watch out for that gas.
Ground is farting
This isn't even an eruption, this is more geothermal activity.
