    Amazing!! A vid where someone ACTUALLY takes a trail capable vehicle and drives it ON A TRAIL!!! Well done. And frankly, the trail you went down are probably much more than what the average driver would attempt. While the TrailSport is not a rock climber or a trail buster it appears to have capabilities beyond what it will actually be asked to do. Could the Telluride X-Pro do this? Hmm...

    • @BernonCars
      @BernonCars  Рік тому +1

      Thank you! I certainly agree haha. This was a pretty gnarly trail especially for a Pilot. I’m not sure if a Telluride could do this honestly. The suspension doesn’t look like it’d articulate enough. Would be interesting to see for sure LOL

    Good video Bern! One thing to point out is that even though the minimum clearance is lower than the Subarus, the effective ground clearance (or rocker clearance) is higher. It was 12.3” on my 2019 Passport, and now that I have a lift kit and taller tires it’s 16.5” (if you don’t count the rock sliders).

    Great video! I was impressed not only at what you attempted but what it was able to do! All the videos I’ve watched convinced me the main problem with it is the approach angle. It needs more ride height or a different front bumper/fascia

    This vid is One of the Best Off Road reviews that Hard Tested this Awesome Pilots Weaknesses and Strengths. Bern You Need To Give Verbal Credit To The Dealership That loaned you this Pilot. Honda of Torrence CA. THIS Video is One you need to add to your Research and Development studies library.
    For the Hobda Dealership That loaned Bern this Pilot Thank you for this, Bern and His Highly Skilled Spotter really effectively and Very Safely and Respectfully pushed this Pilot to its absolute capable limits. Way further and much better than TFL Ever Does.
    Bern ask your Dealership if they will loan you a passport in this same exact trim, and one other thing You should do is have the Dealership manager ride along with you and give his or her feedback as the experience the capabilities and restrictions of these great pilots and hope to see next passports so they Can give Honda Of Torrance thir Direct feed back which goes back to Japan developers for future improvements.

    Good demo! 2 foot driving might work against you with this type of system. You might be better off letting the system work it out at a steady, light throttle, and figuring out which wheel has better traction. As you seemed to be doing later in the video. Of course, I realize you also must avoid crashing down on those rocks, so.....

    Thanks - so the Pilot transmission have an LSD in the front or anything, sounds like no? Does the car torque steer at all if you floor it on the road? I am a Subaru guy but having a hard time with the CVT , followed by the DI turbo 4 on the Ascent. I've been thinking about a Pilot TrailSport for next time around (Will wait another year to see if they make a Wilderness Ascent). But I really dislike torque steer most of all so that would be a deciding factor.

    Nicely done. Didn’t the older ivtm-4 systems have a 1st/2nd gear lock button? I believe it is gone now so I wonder which drive mode, if any, put you the same as the old lock button? Also the crawl ratio you meantioned, do you need to be in manual mode I. 1st gear to achieve and continually get that 22:1 ratio or does it automatically hold 1st gear in Trail mode?

    • @BernonCars
      @BernonCars  Рік тому

      Thanks!! They did! VTM only worked in 1/2 gear and reverse. Putting it in Sand and Trail Mode works similarly to the old system, but this one can shift power side to side easier. That crawling ratio is in 1st gear manual mode! Trail mode does seem to keep you in 1/2 also

      @Rafa RS You're not grasping the Big Picture. I have seen many of these new reviews of Pilot. The Fast Lane and other auto press were at Sedona Arizona with Pilot. They had multiple TrailSport Pilots on 6/10 trail.
      The Big Picture is Honda didn't do this for Pilot. It was done for upcoming Ridgeline and Passport redesigns.
      We don't know what kind of tweaks they will have. One of the Ridgeline weaknesses is limited off-road potential.
      More people will use Ridgeline and Passport for off-road adventure.
      But these vehicles also have to ride good on -road. So it has to be balanced.
      They upgraded the IVTM4 Torque Vectorng AWD System. Similar to Accra Super Handling AWD but tuned differently. I'm not into that stuff but as Ridgeline owner know what's been ask for over many years. I seen hundreds of UA-cams. They want lift or suspension from factory. They don't want to mess up Driving Dynamics for a little extra off-road capability. So vehicles to really watch is Next Gen Ridgeline and Passport. Auto Press was impressed with Pilot TrailSport in Sedona Arizona.
