You are hilarious. There is enough burley in that bag for 10 fishing sessions. That was entertaining😂.
Not wrong I think my session in the next video was so bad because I fed all the fish with the burley 😔
Cracked up through that one Spike...Go to a thrift shop and buy a cheap blender/processor and get a box of wheat-bix , blend up the bait and mix the crushed wheat-bix in afterwards. I doubt that bag will seal properly because they have to be real clean & dry at the business end.
Glenn yes you are spot on with that advice. Weet box is a first, but makes a lot on sense. I’ll try it if I do a burley making session again. It is unlikely though 😆
Hello Mel and followers.. Firstly, its encouraging for me when you fish the bay during winter and find it hard to land a decent catch. I thought it was just me. Last 3 seasons ive found winter around the bay quite challenging. Never the less, its still great to just get out and about and see the whales each year.
Im sure every fisho has their way of making burley. I take home whatever yakas i dont use each week and freeze them. I also freeze old frames and old pillies. When ive got a decent amount in the freezer i put them thru a Bunning Ozito garden shredder. It was $199 bucks. It shreds it all up into flakes. Add a little pilly oil , chicken pellet and white bread to absorb the water i used to clean the ozito and bag it all into individual zip ties bags. Into the freezer ready for the next trip. Ill take 6 or so bags for a session and 1 will last around 30 mins depending on temps. The mix brings in yakkas from anywhere and at times lots of others.. sometime not so much!! it doesn't tend to over feed them as it takes a while to defrost and spread..The method is fairly quick and easy to clean up. Thought id share. Im sure others have their own way. Love your work Mel. Keep postin"
This is practically the most perfect response to my abomination of an attempt. We need slow release in small quantities to successfully burley. I’ve decided against power tools as we all know I will carelessly lose a body part for sure if left to play with machines like that 😆
Job done - was entertaining watching your way of madness lol
I’ll share my burley bomb recipe with you, which is great for land base fishing.
Speaking of bombs there was zero in this video 😮
Doesn’t matter how much the percentage goes down. You definitely never disappoint 👍
The blokes up here in Nelson Bay use a cheap electric wood cheaper they got from a second hand shop they put the frozen fish through the cheaper with a couple of loves of stale bread and when they go out they just throw the mash into the water. never fails
@@spikesfishing come on anyone that eats KFC with fishfingers is tough enough to use one of those little biddy wood chipper
@@robfaith6029 I’ll use it but it would be a one time deal and less fingers to lick 🤭
Nice try Mel least you tried I used old pills plus cat food and old bread. And the tool Pedro got you looks perfect.
Hey, good effort...
Once you get it into a mince
I would probably mix with some filler, like breadcrumbs.
Then freeze in Rectangular or square blocks... like chum blocks.
We learn from your efforts Mel.. your a legend
You live and learn..
Trial and Error thats what its all about.... The day we stop learning is when life becomes boring. Well done Mel.
The stuff you tipped out will attract every cat within 10km 😂
I did get a bit of a talking to from my brother for what I did and I took it like a man 😂
Mel good idea, but you need to chop up the big bait bits or buy a hand mincer and run the big bits through. I would also mix some chicken pellets in with the fish stuff, it will absorb most of the moisture and hold the burly together. If you place the burly into an onion bag with or without a rock tie it to a rope and throw it over the side a lot less messy
You seem to be right on the money based on the other comments recommending similar techniques. If I ever feel the need to do it again I will take your advice
Could of made some pizza's with those small fish 'bait' (crush them up with salt) . . the larger fish collect contaminates
I think once that is frozen, and you take out for a sesh, it will eventually soften/melt on its own. Failure? I don’t think so, it’s gonna be very oily and once in the water would do the job. Probably you can use it as “concentrate” to be mixed with bread and water once in the boat.
You are spot on, it worked well when I used it but I don’t think I will be making it again 😂
Well Mel you are going to get hit with plenty of good advice. Here is my two bobs worth. > Tools, Food processor > Blender... boiler, > plastic bucket > plastic bags.and a burley pot.. What you want to use as burly your choice, I boil rice and blend it end with other burley items .. I use processor and blender to pulp contents.. Stir it all around in bucket and then poor into plastic bags that are sitting in my burley pot... freeze . Your burley will therefore sit in your burley pot when you going touse it and slowlly thaw out.. Ofcourse take burley out of plastic bag.. Hope I made sense
Spot on John. You guys have experience and I am so happy to learn from you all and hopefully next time I do it better like you
Try going to BCF and buy a berley muncher that they use in boats. Costs about $50. You might need a metal bucket though cause they are strong.
Then get a small bucket that the plastic bag will fit over so you can fill them with less mess.
Good luck!
Get a cheap hand mincer and other food scraps work too including bread. Funnier than the trip to The Druitt to get the pillies 👍 😅you need Crocs without holes for this job 👌
😂 Pete make me laugh. Bread is a great idea for next time in a mincer 100% - if I ever decide to make it again 😆
Lol I can smell the burly from here 😂😂😂 that stuff will attract a shit load of fish
Alas it looked good in the water but I chose a very bad day to use it and it went to waste 😑
Get a hand mince
Blender
didn't lick your fingers? 😋
Better to let it ferment for a few days then chew your fingernails 🤣🤣🤣
Gave it ago myself earlier this year.
Bucket from Bunnings, used the metal masher from my burley bucket. Scoop lol yourself.
Pilchids, prawns, tuna oil and chicken pellets. Cut the pilchards and Mashed up, poured in medium sized freezer bags and straight to the freezer.
That was supposed to be how my brain imagined it to work but hey we learn
@@spikesfishing all trial and error. Next time will be better
