If you are to install only two mods let them be "More Descriptions for Traits" and "Clear description for Moodles" to at least give you some idea wtf is going on with your character. The best advice I can give you is go slower and clear the area around you. Only run if you've cleared an area or really need to for short bursts. If you need to lose a group then walk until you reach somewhere you can break line of sight and then sneak run. The game doesn't tell you but that 75/100/125 XP boost you get from taking levels 1/2/3 in a skill (excluding fitness and strength) actually gives you 400/533/666% more experience points to that skill permanently from character creation because you actually start with 25% XP gain at level 0 (25 + 75 = 100, 100 is 4 times 25). Take a weapon skill through traits (E.g. Baseball player) or occupation (e.g. lumberjack) and take nimble (through occupation or Gymnast trait) as nimble increases your speed in aim mode, making it easier to keep backing up whilst attacking then jogging short bursts when more than one zombie are about to grab you. Good beginner negative traits to take are Conspicuous, High Thirst, Short Sighted, Slow Healer, Weak Stomach and Prone to Illness (Take Outdoorsman to offset for an extra 2 free points). Good beginner positive traits to take are Cat's Eyes, Fast Learner, Fit (Can take with underweight to offset for a free extra point in fitness, eat butter, pasta and ice cream etc ezpz), Graceful, Keen Hearing, Wakeful, Baseball Player, Gymnast, Handy (for the maintenance, increases durability on weapon).
