- A BIG day folks, can we build an extension for our house in just 24 hours? We're using recycled stuff from our around farm, old doors, windows and wood in the hopes that we can build it all FOR FREE!! We're excited about this one folks, thanks for being here!
We also have an important story to share this week, about how much it means to us to connect with you, our community. Little Teddy Bridge and has family have lived through every family's worst nightmare as Teddy was diagnosed with AML leukaemia. Teddy is now finished his treatment and back home with his mum and dad, and when Scott and Kate wrote to us to tell us their story we wanted to do a little something in Teds honour. My son is 5 yrs now in remission from AML, his treatments were experimental, caused him to be sensitive to light, lost his teeth, was in the hospital for 3 months but by the grace of God & lots of prayers & wonderful doctors he’s hopefully going to live a long life. We are so thankful & blessed he’s ok.

This week your video was very special for me. My younger brother had AM leukemia when he was 29 and again 9 years later. Made first auto-transplant and at the 2nd time they found a donner in Germany and it worked until today. He is turning 59 this week. He suffered a lot during treatments and transplants, more than once almost died, but he is now one of the persons that more enjoys life that I know, funny and always joking with our 98 year old mother. He travels, he enjoys the company of his wife and children, and at the same time he brings new life's to the world every day because he is a midwife. I learned a lot with him.
Besides that, John is really an artist 😊

Again, I’m a nanny and I use to babysit a 3 year old girl that had cancer also. From someone who loves all kids and animals, it was really hard for me to not cry when I went to babysit her. I fell in love with her and her brother and eventually her cancer is in remission. Her mother didn’t eat me anymore, so I stopped babysitting, but I always pray for her and kids like her. We’re going through hard medical challenges that they really shouldn’t have to go through at such a young age. It just makes me feel so sad. I love Teddy‘s story and I’m gonna start praying for him also. I pray that God keeps him safe and heals his body. I love watching you guys on your farm in Portugal, and I’m gonna enjoy. Also, your travel channel. Because I’ve been to a lot of countries, and I love to travel. You could probably say that everything you do on your channel the newbies and the travel channel are things that I enjoy doing. Happy exploring newbies.

Before I retired as a carpenter, my clients often bought the best of materials. I got leftovers from my old clients, and also from my colleagues. Also, people would ask me to move them with my truck, and I was gifted a lot with materials. When I moved from place to place, I moved my junk along. My place did get junky looking, I'll admit, but now I'm reaping the rewards - own place, and doing projects without buying stuff while seeing my place look nicer as I use stuff up - so satisfying. People ask 'Why are you doing it 'this' way - and I say 'because it's MY house, MY way! I don't have to be serious about anything now the building inspector's gone!
P.S. I've used those 'puzzle squares for various things and I'm astounded how long they last! since you're using yours semi-outdoors, you can blast them with the hose. Love your use of music here. And your addition looks great. God bless Teddy.
It is so easy to take the health of our loved ones for granted until devastation knocks at our door. Thank you for sharing Teddy’s story, I know when I purchase a blanket it will become known to me as Teddy’s blanket and I will wonder how he is doing, so please keep us updated on his new healthy journey. This was such fun to watch. John you are amazing and I love the way you see the plan of it as you work. Its going to be a great space and with the extra storage how good is that! I sat memorised watching Crusoe and Sawyer walking down to the chickens. So sweet and lovely how Crusoe stopped each time Sawyer fell down. Its so wonderful you get to document these things as they grow up way too fast. Cancer is the most awful illness I lost my big sister to brain cancer. That hoodie is adorable I wish it was in an adult size lol. Heartbreaking and heart warming stories xx

Thank you for your very kind words re families who are facing trying times. My 45 year old son who is an end stage kidney disease patient, had to have open heart surgery in early February. He is still in hospital facing various issues including pneumonia. We are hoping that he will be able to get off the ventilator in the next month. It is a stressful time but being able to share in your lives is very enjoyable and helpful. I so enjoy watching your progress on your property. Thank you for enabling us to help those with cancer.

Unglaublich schön, was ihr alles aus Restholz oder alten Türen macht. Ich finde es such immer so schön,wie liebevoll ihr mit euren Jungs umgeht. Grosses Lob. Übrigens waren wir 1974 in Rhodesien/ Salisbury, hiess es damals noch. Wir waren für ein Jahr dort und hatten eine wunderschöne Zeit, mit sehr lieben Leuten verbracht. Wir sind Riesenfans von Afrika, fuhren dann mit einem VW Bulli durch die Wüste bis Kenia und von dort über Karachi wieder zurück. Wir freuen uns immer wieder auf neue Videos von euch. My daughter put a gazebo up outside her back door, it worked so well that she got a more permanent structure built.
Your's is more substantial and so gorgeously quirky. Do you feel the connection with the outdoors? And will it give you ideas when you're talking to the architect about the new house?
Teddy's story is so heart wrenching. It's amazing what you can do for people by sharing your life on UA-cam.

from NZ also 'Kia Kaha' to Teddy & family & others fighting cancer. as John started the project I thought "he will want to make this awesome" and of course he did. I did wonder if there was some way insulation could be attached. My previous flat had no roof insulation and the rain was sooooo loud and hard to keep warm. I imagine with the boys playing out there that u would want to have kitchen door open and that could be a bit chilly. Then again I'm at the bottom of South Island , NZ where winter can be freezing and you are in Portugal where winters will be some what warmer. Your new house adventure will be epic to watch next year. till Wednesday 💖

Just before John built symmetrical panels I thought that a wall painted in this special black board paint probably would be great for the boys.
After this stunning build such a tough and sad story… friends of mine battled their little son‘s leukemia twice, once at around 2 years of age and the second time at around 5. It‘s a nightmare for the parents, the siblings and of course for the little patient. But he is 18 oder 19 now, he made it through those rough years. So there is hope! - Sindy from the channel Simple Life Portugal is currently battling a nasty triple cancer, if somebody can help with just a few euros they would probably be delighted as they need support with their homestead and those unexpected health care costs.
