Having two NG3 and full Darkglass gear around them, I predict this bass will be more expensive than them all put together. Unobtainium for the average person. Pretty though
I ilike it, but the pricetag is almost 4k $/€. I get the electronic features and build quality are super cool and it's a Mayones...still. Maybe if they release a 6 string for a comparable price I start saving up.
This is IMO more feature packed then any bass on the market. Built in headphone jack?!? Rechargeable battery?!?! And a P4 pickup that let's you use many brands. This is a crazy instrument and I love it. Y'all act like there hasn't been over a dozen other brands with a 37-35" multi scale for the past 10yrs.
Because originality is so prevalent in instrument production and retail....and except for angled triple pi kups, it doesn't look that much like a dingwall.
Mayones made a little bit of better Dingwall than Dingwall. The specs I prefer this bass better than dingwall are the stainless steel frets and the pickup rotary shows the positions. I love my Dingwall NG but these are the two things I think are better about this bass. So I'd like to try one but I wouldn't replace my dingwall just for that reason.
I'll always be glad that bass players have more options, and these basses seem really well made, but I don't see a reason to get this over a Dingwall. May if you really, really love Mayones?
The headphone jack, p4 pickup shells for more pickup options? Maybe you like the looks of this one more (I love my DROC body over this, but would love the features this offers).
@@rl-ub9hx There's tons of tiny headphone amps now on the market that also have other features like tuners or drum machines, and don't have to sit in the body cavity. Changing pickups is one advantage, but I don't see the point when the original bass is that expensive. I do really like the look though. The orange finish in particular looks really great.
“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery… that mediocrity can pay to greatness”. I always thought of Mayones as innovators… not blatant imitators in SO MANY ways here. Great playing as always Nate! At least Ibanez did their own thing with multi scale.
Imitating a scale length is not blatantly copying Dingwall. 34" is copied from Fender?. Pickup configuration too, the jazz bass standard created by Fender? Mayones here made a new body that looks and probably feels different, much like brands creating the Super Strats after Fender
@@trance9158 Most things on this copy Dingwall. From the 3 pickups to the Wenge neck, scale length, inlay dot positioning. Its basically an off the shelf bass for the price of a custom Afterburner. Cool but overpriced.
@andrewneehall5664 the hardware and electronics are custom nobody has copyright on scale lengths and the 3 pup configuration isn't exclusive to any particular brand either.
That sounds fair enough, but it might be the case that the small size and tapering shape of the headstock was to minimize its tipping-moment on that long of a neck, especially without also making the body heavier, which can be inconvenient.
Competition. People want 37" multiscale but Dingwall are ridiculous expensive for what they are. I liked it, its different, like a Superstrat to the original strat
@@gustavomazonave8536 truth I have no idea how even their secondhand Chinese models are so expensive. They’re like the only instruments from continental Asia that don’t depreciate like crazy

Amazing blend of engineering and design. Appearance-wise, it reminds me of Padalka basses
He said "Enji" and I thought I heard "NG" like Nolly Getgood
That would be a nice joke/reference by Mayones.
That's probably the idea. Like how "jabba" is their Jazz Bass
It does really look like a dingwall, exept for the body shape mostly
DUDE. i love everything about this bass. extra long scale boy. i love the textured finish and the swoopy angular cuts in the body!

@@tornoutlaw these are all handmade it's not a mass produced instrument.
@tornoutlaw at that price range you could buy a dingwall afterburner new... I know which one I'd pick lol
Killer playing and tone! 🙌🏼
I see "Mayones" and I know it's out of my budget haha
I think I saw something about 3000 Euro?
@rl-ub9hx only listing I saw was 3200 Pounds haha.
Thats over $6k minus tax in Australia for me haha
@stuballingerart that's uh... Unfortunate mate
That thumb’d heavy riff in the intro gives me fear factory vibes 🔥Great Video and playing as always 🙌

Boarding my flight to NAMM and this bass is first on my list to check out.

@ multi scale, fanned frets, 6 way selector switch…
Cool looking bass.
Nice gnarly tone 🔥
Greetings from Poland! Love the riff from 3:34 ❤
Beautiful ❤❤❤
The dingwalla!!! Still need one.
Killer as always

So sweet
Sounds slick, wouldve been useful to know what the pickup combinations actually are though 😂
You can find the information on the mayones homepage
Wow so jazzy :o)

Good thing I can't afford this. What an incredible bass.
Ahh the DingYones Ori Getgood.
I’ll take an NG
well its an enji

💪🎸👍
What happened to high frequencies in those modern basses?
I always dislike the sounds of these, same with dingwalls, it's all mids, so weird.
My Dingwalls are all high mid and I have to boost the lows compared to all my other basses
That's a Dingwall right?
No...
👍👌👌

Yep first Kiesel and now Mayones... just seems lazy

Why aren't you in a band?
*Porcupine Tree & Devin Townsend ring any bells?*
Porcupine tree
For 4,000 USD an instrument better have my name laser etched on it, not ori and the blind forest.
sounds very much a dingwall bass
I didn’t know origami is the new word for dingwall
No, Nate, Mayones is not an instrument.
Wow. Amazing. Would've bought this in a heartbeat, but I can't stand it when they paint the wood
headstock kills the design

*A work of art compared to the Sire (Gumby) headstocks.*
Mayones made a dingwall? I wonder if Sheldon is calling his lawyer
For what? The body style is not the same neither are the specs.
The guitar industry has been down this road. Its weird, but the only thing you can copyright is the headstock

Love MAYONES basses but this does nothing for me. Sounds average and looks horrible.
