Enjoy a 37 Mile winding scenic drive through the Berkshire Mountains in Western Massachusetts. About 2-3 hours outside of Boston, the Mohawk Trail winds through the Berkshire Mountains from Greenfield, MA to North Adams, MA through Shelburne, Buckland, Charlemont, Savoy, Florida, Massachusetts along route 2 - the northern highway across the state. One of the most scenic drives in Massachusetts the Mohawk Trail, which served as a colonist and Native American trading route, showcases the rolling green mountains of the Berkshires. Beautiful in all seasons this drive is a must experience for anyone visiting or from Western Massachusetts from the farmlands of Greenfield to the hairpin turn as you enter North Adams.
Typically synonymous with Boston, Massachusetts holds some wonderful beauty inland away from Cape Cod, Boston, and Martha's Vineyard. Enjoy the subtle yet elegant beauty that very few get to see unless you're from western mass. Visiting in the fall, the Berkshires showcase their greatest fall foliage beauty. Like and subscribe for the fall ride edition!
I hope you enjoy the scenic drive along the Mohawk Trail in the Berkshires. The purpose of these videos is to bring some relaxation or showcase tourist destinations in their natural state without music or narration allowing the location to be the character. Please comment below if you've visited, hope to visit, or found some anxiety relief or stress relief from taking a few minutes to travel with me.

One of the most mesmerizing drives in New England. The hills, rivers trees, fields, and towns are all beautiful, on a clear day! Thank you for screening!

My favorite ride in Massachusetts. The world always seems close in this state until you ride out on mohawk

7:56: Gould's Sugarhouse, a wonderful restaurant, sadly now closed after the owner retired in 2022, the view across the valley is stunning
10:27: Turn left here or right before or after the bridge at 11:40 to get to Shelburne Falls, a great little old mill town with shops, restaurants, a theater, the scenic bridge of flowers, and some awesome glacial potholes. The movie "The Judge" starring Robert Downey Jr. was filmed there.
21:16 turn left in the winter to reach Berkshire East Mountain Resort for skiing and snowboarding.

Absolutely love this! If you get a min of free time I did a little walk through Shelburne falls mixed with film locations of dexter when it was shot there a few years ago

And yes, coming down the hill into North Adam’s, 38:22 is the most memorable part of the trip!

It's a little more Northern where they become more rolling hills. They get much larger north in New Hampshire and south in Tennessee

Has Charlemont decided what to do with the old Charlemont Inn? I hope it can be saved..many fond memories of stopping there after a day skiing at Berkshire east.

Unfortunately I haven't heard anything. I do this drive once or twice a year and haven't seen much happening with the property as of last fall

How desperately I need to get away from the city to see this... I wish my bikes gas tank wasn't so small.

Don't let that hold you back! The silence and space is good for the soul. You can rent an enterprise car for about $40 for the day. Plenty worth it for some relaxation

Is the old "Scotch Mist" restaurant now a residence? I recall it was closed for years (1:22)

The best I could find was that it was maybe built in 1900, likely at the tail end of the economic boom during the hoosac tunnel construction era. The address is 119 Main Street, Charlemont, MA, if you want to try to find more.

I grew up in Hawley (just south of Charlemont), when I was a child in the 80's there were shops on the first floor of this building and apartments upstairs. I remember one of the shops was called "Mom's" and we used to go in there to buy their brownies.
