Glad to see Big Chungus in his rightful place as the pinnacle of hare evolution.
Yep Big Chungus is so THACC He encompasses THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE, Maybe MUCH FURTHER.
Big chungus is the middle form of chungi went extinct 1000 years ago
Me : *watchs video because I'm a fan of looney tunes*
Literally 80% of people : *big chungus*
Without a doubt, I loved the Chuck Jones Bugs Bunny. It was always about Bugs being attacked in his natural environment and his retaliation (of course you realize this means war). And the visual presentation was awesome.
I am nearly 59 years old and I don't think a week of my life has gone by without me recalling the rabbit of seville.
BIG CHUNGUS is certainly Bugs most underrated design. It took decades before it became appreciated now.
And the design made a brief appearance in the Looney Tunes Show.
Super old old bugs: I'm so skinny
Super old bugs: in kinda chubby but skinny
Old bug: I'm skinny but chub
New bug: I'm regular
Bug chungus: I'm obese
Bugs Bunny saved Mel Blanc's life irl. When Blanc was in a coma as a result of a car crash, the doctors started addressing Blanc as Bugs Bunny. In a comatose state, Blanc replied as Bugs, and eventually he was pulled out of it. That's a true story.
Bugs Bunny is LEGEND. One of the greatest characters ever created.
Piotr John Gapacan Jr. and now ur gonna act like you dont know what we’re talking about cuz you deleted your comment.
The more he evolved the bigger his feet became.
Proof that the artists who drew Bug Bunny over the years have been actively trying to appeal to the foot fetish people.(JOKE)

"Eh, what's up doc?"
"Ain't I stinker?"
My two favourite quotes of Bugs Bunny
Bugs borrowed/stole "Ain't I a stinker?" from Red Skelton's "mean widdle kid" character. Much like his carrot eating, contemporary audiences would have picked up on it right away.
been waiting for this one, I knew it was coming
*Waiting for Popeye & Tom and Jerry*
You like Looney tunes,Yu Yu Hakusho,Popeye and Tom and Jerry? You sir have good tastes.
i just ordered a very rare (1979) lobby card of the bugs bunny and road runner movie on eBay last month
@Old Time Films Huh they approved the name change. Also Tom and Jerry are more common names.
Bugs bunny: “ What’s up doc?”
People from the 1950s : 😈👍🔥😍🗿😎😏😩🙌
I know you are trying to communicate using emojis but I am having a hard time deciphering them. If only...
Nice video, Bugs Bunny is my favorite character in Looney Tunes.👍👍👍
I ❤️ Bugs’ Space Jam appearance!
Point being who ever Porky points his musket at will become a super star
Therapist: Bugs Bunny laughing like Woody Woodpecker isn't real, he can't hurt you.
Bugs Bunny laughing like Woody Woodpecker: 3:12.
Daniel Galimidi That’ll could have been Woody Woodpecker being dressed up as a rabbit. Maybe they told him to do that.
-Big Chungus
Oh wait not Big Chungus, Bugs Bunny
3:11-3:12 Happy Rabbit (aka Bugs Bunny) laughed like Woody Woodpecker.
I used to have nightmares about both woody woodpecker and loony tunes, loved both though
Nice video Dave Lee. Bugs Bunny is my favorite character.
FUN FACT: Bugs Bunny was granted the rank of Marine Master Sergeant by the U.S. Marine Corp for his outstanding service in WW2 after joining as a private in 1943. I noticed that this fact was absent from this video.
@@justinslaughter8933 because the "people" who own looney-tunes these days hate America and anything that makes Americans proud of their history.
@@snurgumwurgum8238 Yes, anything MAHWF is not to be looked upon favorably anymore.
I´ll go with the "mid-1940s/50s" Bugs any day.........can´t get any better than that.
It's too bad "Looney Tunes, Back In Action" bombed... I loved that feature... Been a WB toon fan for 60 years, have seen tons and tons of Bugs and his fellow comedic masterpieces. I guess if I had to pic a fave classic-era Bugs cartoon, I'd have to go with the hilarious Bugs/Daffy hunting-season trilogy... "DUCK season! WABBIT season! ... Wabbit season! DUCK season, FIRE!" Blam! :)
I thought Back In Action was more in tune with the classic shorts, and is more fun, at least for me.
Space Jam felt like a two hour commercial.
@@vincentfranklin17 they indeed have a Michael Jordan and Looney Tunes commercial before Space Jam release
Back in Action was great. Space Jam was the best ad I've ever seen. I hope the new one with LeBron James does well so we can see more Looney Tunes more prominently
It's funny how much of a troll Bugs Bunny is. He and the internet have a lot in common
The single best Bugs Bunny cartoon has to be What's Opera Doc. Shorts like those introduced children to classical music and culture that they could later appreciate as adults. Modern cartoons do nothing to add to cultural significance.
I love when bugs bunny outsmarts others XD
Big Chungus in the thumbnail with other great designs of Bugs. If anything, that smurk he's giving me on it makes me think he bribed Dave to add em on there.
*"Bug's bunny's busting out all over"*
That sounds so wrong oh my god-
Any time Bugs is in drag is my favorite. As a manicurist working on the nails of a tennis shoe wearing monster, “I said to my girl friend just the other day, I said, ‘Gee, I bet monsters live interesting lives.’ “
18:00 Thats not even remotely what happens in Space Jam. They team up with Michael Jordan so they don't have to be slaves at an intergalactic teampark, not to save the earth from an alien invation. The only thing they save beside them selfs is the basketball skills to some pro basketball players.
It's been more than a decade since I last watch a Looney Tunes episode. My memories with Looney Tunes is so vague but I will always remember Bug Bunny because he was my most favourite character in the franchise lol
My favorite Bugs design is the Looney tunes show. That was my favorite show when it was out.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit is one of my favorite films. I didn't know about the stipulation of equal screen time between the characters. I remember that the Daffy/Donald scene was perfect. But the Bugs/Mickey scene was in tune with how Bugs would act, but not so much Mickey. Now it makes more sense of why they chose to do that. I hope a Daffy vid comes out soon, he's my fave!
I grew up with BB and I still love him and I'm sixty three years old!!!!!!!!!
You're the same age as my father, who raised me on Looney Tunes. I respect you.
You should watch “the loony tunes show” came out sometime in the last decade I think
I like the looney tunes show version of bugs but I have to admit the classic golden age cartoon bugs is still my favorite because that's the bugs bunny i grew up with.
Didn’t know “what’s up, doc?” Came from Texas
@@JACKALTOOTH100 it is. Tex Avery was known to use it back in the day. It's one of those old expressions that withered away over time.
I always thought bugs saying “What’s up doc” was short for *Whats up doctor* now I feel dumb
I prefer both season designs of "The Looney Tunes Show" Bugs, as it mostly reminds me of how he continuously would be refusing es up until the most long running look he’d have. Plus I like how most animated shows change from before to after with their characters.
I’m surprised that Daffy Duck appeared before Bugs Bunny.
@@Marvelfanatic3658 I'm surprised Bugs Bunny appeared in a prototype form 3 years before "A Wild Hare."
Do anyone remember June Bugs. It was a way for Cartoon Network to celebrate Bugs Bunny.
Wish they could bring that back to show classic Bugs Bunny shorts, the Looney Tunes show, and Wabbit.
Used to watch it every year! I loved Cartoon Network for introducing me to the Looney Tunes, MGM, and Hanna-Barbera cartoons my parents grew up with. And June Bugs always came out on a weekend near summer vacation on June 1st, so it was always a reminder that summer fun was just around the corner!
Mckimson's model sheet from 1943 is unsurpassed.
It's so incredibly well drawn and captures Bugs' personality perfectly.
Even though Friz Freleng is my favorite Bugs Bunny director, my favorite short must be Hillbilly Hare.
That square dance at the end is the funniest sh*t ever put on film.
It's been 3 yrs since your comment but.. you reminded me of the square dance short.. I had picked the ones w/Marvin, the Monster and the Conductor but, like I had said, I don't have one fave and you reminded me of another fave.. the "Square Dance" w/those hilarious Hick-a-billies.. lol.. thanks...
Th-Th-Th-That's all Folks!"
ngl, Bugs Bunny made whole carrots look delicious for me as a kid
The 2019 Bugs looks so weird. I'm all for the 90's Bugs 👍
Naa the early 1940’s and late 1940’s bugs and the 2020 bugs design is better
@@youretheproblem5321 , his character does shine the best during that time period, indeed!
Which show are you taking about? New looney tunes? Or looney tunes show, I just assumed you didn't know the show version is from 2011
Didn’t think I’d be as big into the non-Disney stuff because you truly hit a homerun again and again with “Explaining Disney” but this was just as good if not better. Can’t wait to see more and hope you’re going to continue to do the follow-up voice evolution for these as well. I’m sure you’ve got an entire lineup of characters you want to do, but I would LOVE to see the many versions of Tom and Jerry added to the list.
Thanks so much for saying. I was a little nervous going into this one myself, because I have less background in WB history. But with my knowledge of the industry at the time, and the realization that everyone was literally just following / ripping off Disney or were ex-Disney artists, I found it quite easy. And honestly think I had more fun on this than any of the previous ones because of the challenge.
Really glad you enjoyed this too!
Plenty of possibilities for future but Tom & Jerry is definitely towards the top of the list!
I remember the first episode shown on this video and I already knew the nostalgia would begin. Even one when he had the black tips on his ears and two toe pads. Aaahhhh
I actually really loved Bugs and Daffy during back to action, its one of my favorite movies and I love how they are written.
You forgot that in "Elmer's Pet Rabbit" Mel gives Bugs more of a Jimmy Stewart voice.
Thank you! I too thought that was a glaring omission in his development. In fact, the voice isn't really consistent until Bug's 8th appearance.
I just want to say :u r doing a very good job, thank u and keeeeep going
Glad you made this! Ya wasscaly wabbit.
King of trolls and he after Daffy Duck is favorite Looney Tunes cartoon characters.
I absolutely adored My Dream is Yours.
Rest in peace, Doris Day
I love how big chungus is in the thumbnail
8:53 this is what you all came for
I am proud to admit that Bugs Bunny is my favorite cartoon character. I love his wit, his confidence (something i dont have, i more Daffy), his sass and his winning attitude wo is afraid to crossdress.
I love him so much, when i had to do an assignment on our favourite character and how it represents cool, i naturally chose Bugs Bunny doing a PowerPoint presentation that ended up being far far too long.
Well done like always. Love these analysis of animated characters. Looking forward to seeing more
The 1950s era Bugs Bunny is the most definitive of the character. That applies to Porky, Foghorn Leghorn, Tweety, Sylvester and all the recognised Warner characters.
@@laurn.laughter "Big Chungus", referring to the fat Bugs Bunny, that is just one of the stages of metamorphesis of the character. By the 1950s all the Warner characters had reached the final stage of their development, that's why I said the 1950s was the most definitive era of Bugs and all the other characters.

The double-dipping of the dynamite in Elmer's face at 20:50 really cracked me up.

I love the opera bugs bunny short 🐰
Gonna see if Bugs has his own Dvd collections
81 years of that Waskily Wabbit who looks surprisingly good in drag! Awesome video! I look forward to your Daffy video!!!
Bugs is among the icons of animation.
I'm a little surprised that with all this talk about bugs Bunny in the 1990s, there is no mention of his appearance in Gremlins 2. Then again I can hardly blame you as most of that sequence was cut out of the film, which is a darn shame in my opinion.

I never knew that Bugs was so complicated!
He is amazing!
Contrary to popular belief, The Early Prototype form of Bugs bunny was never called "Happy Rabbit". The "Happy Rabbit" name was made up by Mel Blanc in the 1970's. I 'am Not faulting Mel Blanc, I'm just here to explain the truth.
I wonder what would people think of Family guy 100 years from now.
“That really good cartoon that was indirectly responsible for an onslaught of unfunny shitty cartoons that use the exact same art style”

Porky Pig, he has had some of the most changes and even include the pig that was before Porky from the Warner Studios prior to 1935.

Please stop telling me I "forgot" _Wabbit Season_ .
A - It is NOT canon
B - Even if it was, how do I "forget" something that was released 12 months AFTER I made the video?
Warner brothers own the right to it, so they made it canon
No, they don’t “own the rights” to the video. The own the rights to their character, which they legally claimed wrongful use of.
Dave Lee Down Under either way good video man tho
