Cool content! I really like these individual comparison videos. After seeing all of these boats for years, it helps to understand where the Ripper 2.0 sits in the half-slice line up.
Im shopping for my first Kayak. Thought i was 100% sold on the rewind but damn, now im not so sure... the most convenient set of rapids for me is a beautiful play wave. Seems like i might have a closer look at the ripper.
Hi Wade. How do you compare the large ripper 2 to the large rewind? I have a large R1 and am considering the R2large or rewind large. Mainly i find the outfitting in the R1 uncomfortable after half an hour. I the large rewind a slug compared to the ripper 2 large? Thanks!
Large ripper 2 smokes the large rewind the large ripper 2 I think is the best HalfSlice it surfs better runs rapids better I don’t mind the outfitting when you tweet it slightly so answer yes the large rewind slug compared large ripper 2
Nice review! One area that doesn't seem to get touched on much is what happens when you aren't the perfect middle weight. Could be good to add to your reviews. Do you have a size recommendation on these for someone who is 6'1" and 194lbs dry? Seems I'm at the top of a medium and the bottom of a large. I'm looking to get either the ripper 2 or the rewind soon. Thanks
In my walkthrough of these boats I do post the specs that have the recommended weight ranges on them I try to cover that if that’s what your talking about
@@WadeHarrison Not quite. What I mean is the designers have a waterline they are designing in to the boat and that waterline is achieved with a person of a set weight. The manufacturer's post recommended weight ranges (as you said and put in the video) but there isn't much info on what happens to the waterline at these weights and then what changes to the characteristics of the boat. It stems from the fact that I'm always in between sizes on boats it seems.
The medium ripper 2 looks significantly bigger than the 1. The medium rewind was the biggest half slice imo, it was the only one my legs didn't go full numb in lol. Will be neat to paddle the 2
The more you compare this boat. The more I like it. Because I'm getting older and look for a fun boat to put more variety in my runs. Not so much interested in running the Nar Nar these days. But still enjoying the technical creeky stuff.
Yeah I had this idea when Pyranha said the boat was going to be available to paddle so took some work and was a lot on the fly to make it happen but glad I’m able to show what the current HalfSlice comparisons look like thanks for watching buddy
Because of it’s surfability and outfitting improvements, would you recommend the R2 over the rewind? I love my code, so I ordered a rewind in October, knowing that it probably wouldn’t arrive until March. My local shop has a small R2, in stock. The dagger order has yet to arrive.
Very hard to choose both are so good I really liked the R2 the way the bow blasted up and over and the tail was so fun to play off of but dam the rewind just seems perfect at everything
@@WadeHarrison I am so torn between this and Ripper 2 (I only have size 9) so probably less of an issue for me and its certainly bigger than my Axiom 8.5. Bow is better on Ripper 2 but prefer Tail on Rewind, life choices Ha Ha
@@stuartreedsadventures really dude either one of these will be a really good choice ripper just more carving then the rewind and the rewind little smoother off rocks
How do you like the large rewind? 9foot four is pretty long? I’m considering selling my large ripper for comfort reasons but i really love it’s speed. Is the large rewind a fast boat? I’m 6foot4 200lbs. Thanks!
Rewind is def the closest R2 comparison we’ve seen yet, but as you show here, they are far from the same. Those R2 scratches have us salivating; proof it’s been out. Let’s see some on water footy already! 😎

The ripper 2 is so good
“You’re killing me, Smalls”. Let’s see that boat on the water!
Hahah I do need to edit that footage at some point

I’ve been paddling a rewind for a year and want to try something else - will the tail on the ripper 2 be a pain for me?
The ripper 2 medium is easier to get down over the rewind
@@WadeHarrison did you find yourself getting backlooped / bogged down in holes in the ripper?
Any idea how tall your buddy is? Just wondering what it's like for leg room. Also, can I ask what your weight range is to use as a comparison?
He is 6’1” my weight is 175lb

There’s only medium R2s available. It will be a race to see which boat arrives first, a small R2 or a small rewind.
Have you ever had the opportunity to try/review a Prijon Pike?
I’m working on that so hopefully soon
yep looking at those rails it definitely doesn't look as rock friendly in low water. Such a beautiful boat though...gorgeous lines.
Yup
I wear size 9 shoes and have plenty of room for my Astral Rasslers in my Medium Rewind.
Me too
Which did you prefer to surf river waves?
Oh by far the ripper 1 or 2 the lack of rails on the rewind make it side slip left and right a lot during surfs to keep the surf
Whats the foot rooom like in the Rewind with size 13 feet?
It’s very tight and have to stay pointing forward and this is the medium rewind by the way

Had a go in the large ripper 2 felt it was very slow due to all the rocker bought a large rewind instead
Really can’t go wrong with a rewind

Rewind was a fun one to compare too it’s the top HalfSlice right now it really does do everything really good
All the comparisons!!
Put that thing in some water already
😂
This is the exposition and rising action though! lol XD I'm also excited to see it. 🤟🏼
I know, right??!! LOL!
Pyranha never misses
They have been nailing it past few designs
not lately, but they've had a few duds in the past.
