It's about 4 hours for me as well, coming from the opposite direction. :)
The lull in February is something I have experienced too; pretty much every year I've been making content. I get it's a shorter month, but that doesn't seem to account for the level of the drop off!

Great update. Definitely keep the features on what you’ve played and what’s new in the house. It’s good to get a look at games that I might otherwise not know about.

Haha! Yes, it rains here all the time, so I make sure to get the expensive caulking. ;)
My shelf of shame challenge is going well. I've got a flexible list of 10 games to play as well as a few companion books so I can learn more about the history behind some of those games. I"d probably more accurately call it the "Play more, buy less challenge". I've played Skies Above Britain and Churchill (solo bots). Next up is Ben Madison's Gift of the Nile. The buy less part of the challenge is kind of iffy. I picked up Gift of the Nile and a used copy of Enemy Coast Ahead: The Doolittle Raid. I did end up selling a handful of games that I was done with or I knew I would never play so I've actually come out ahead as far as cash in hand. At least that's how I justify my addiction.
Sounds like great progress! How is Churchill with solo bots? I've always been interested in the game but just figured I'd only rarely be able to get a group large enough to play it.
@@ZillaBlitz It was decent but after I was done I was really itching to play FtF with some real opponents. The official bots can sometimes feel a bit predictable after a while. I kind of ended up making decisions that I felt were more appropriate for the situation. That being said, I came in third and it wasn't even close, but that might be because I thought I was in a better position early on and started "cooperating" with the AI more than I should have. I also tried a fan made interpretation of the bots in an automated excel spreadsheet. It made things go quicker but sometimes felt even more random. I'll have to give it another go in the full campaign.
So good to see your channel growing, so well deserved.. still miss the football manager series

Always enjoy the updates, just to see how the channel is fairing and what's on the horizon. My shelf of shame is MBT, I have even moved it away from Panzer and still ignore it. Lot of new games to play, which is more time consuming, reading rules etc. Spent last three days finally playing Halls of Hegra, all I will say is fairly brutal. Poor mobile phase and your doomed before you start even with a good start, game goes south once the siege rounds start. Although failed to win any of my attempts, thoroughly enjoyable game.
Thanks! Yes, I really like Halls of Hegra but if the initial start is bad, you're hosed. I've stuck with it and played out an unlucky starting roll twice but it was fairly hopeless in short order. It almost feels like you need a good roll in that initiation phase to have a chance. Good luck with MBT!

Yes, I think it'll take time for the audience to grow with them, so just have to be steady and patient. Tabletop will remain the main focus. :)

Interested to see you're doing WDS North Africa, l'm about half way thru operation compass battle of the camps in that one,think you'll enjoy playing.
Oh, very nice! I just updated to version 4.02 (I think) last night, so I'm about ready to dig into the tutorials more. I'm looking forward to it, good luck with Operation Compass!
Would love to see a video on Pax Pamir (after you feel confident in it). Like a half teach/half playthrough thing. Rally the Troops is a cool interface, because you can pull up a completed game and step through it turn by turn, and use that to explain the actions you took, but maybe what went into that decision, and you don't have the pressure of recording it live. Or maybe it's easier to record a quick segment each time you take your turn and then stitch it all together after. It's a long game, so it might be a lot of work either way...still that rulebook feels super dense with a lot of exceptions.
I was just thinking about something like that with The Shores of Tripoli, using Rally the Troops, but I could see it working really well with Pax Pamir, too. I think the game length would be okay if the video were broken up into different segments. And yes, it could be done After Action Report style or as the game is going along, breaking each move up into its own video and then stitching them together at the end. It'd also be fun to record a two-player game like that, with each player recording their thoughts as the game is being played out.

I've played Cuba Libre a couple of times and A Distant Plain once, so starting to scratch the surface. I've really enjoyed the games I've played, although I'm still mostly bumbling around in that space between understanding the rules and not having much of an idea what I'm supposed to be doing. :)
Loved the update this month and I'd suggest keeping the new features. Glad to see WDS sent you some games and if you need help or have any questions feel free to ask me. Be really curious to see your opinion on the Eylau game as I only have one introductory Napoleonic board wargame despite having a host of PC ones. Need to correct that!

I agree, wrapping your head around faction dominance and the overthrow rule are key to understanding the game. When I finally became more comfortable with those twin concepts I was finally able to start settling in to the game.
It's not complicated, just very subtle.
We can revisit it if you want when you come back for your jacket. No rush, I'm not making another Goodwill run til next week! 😂

Shelf of Shame- I was in the middle of Salerno 43 so no Shame there. Now that its finished, I randomly grabbed Panzer Grenadier: Airborne from Avalance Press. I picked this up in 2006 or 7 as a courtesy purchase since we gamed at his store that day. I served in the 82nd so Airborne was all I needed to see. I have never played it so here we go.
Is Avalance Press still around? Guess I am heading to Google

If you will be playing Crusader Kings III on your other channel I will definitely be watching. I've owned that game (and CK2) since it was released but have always been too intimidated to dive in. If i can watch a series of your play-through videos I can see that changing. Your enthusiasm and how you concisely explain things along the way make it very easy to learn the games as I watch. I often find your videos better learning tools than most How-to explainer videos. Keep up the good work.

You will really enjoy the WDS games. They are just like the traditional hex and counter board games without all the book work. I keep about 4 of them going PBEM.

Hard to say ... I have about 30 of the WDS games. Right now we are playing 1814 Gathering of Eagles (Napoleon's 1814 campaign), Gettysburg Campaign; Antietam and a WWII squad level game called Eagle Strike. I have been gaming since Christmas Day 1958 with AH Waterloo.
I ve played a lot of W.D.S. games.
The Panzer Campaign Series scenerios can be a bit lengthy. Of the four Campaign games I played played, I liked Smolensk 41 the most. Has some good short scenerios.
W.D.S is still working on an expected release: Panzer Battles Moscow.
I ve tried a few Squad Battles games. Advance of the Reich was my favorite.
On a side note, I just purchased Commands and Colors Napoleonics from Amazon. This is the core game. It covers the Peninsular Wars. It's currently unavailable from GMT. They may reprint the core game as it was hugely popular. GMT still sells some of the Expansion games.
The Wings Span game looks like fun.
