Phenomenal. You just made like 8 house tracks. I love your taste and your playing. I also grew up weaned on NY House music, reggae, salsa and classics and it has made me the bass player that I am (nothing like you but working on it). Happy New Year.
right, Mark Adams! Steve Washington was another member of the group. I think I remember seeing an old Soul Train clip of Aurra and Mark Adams was thumping his bass with that unique sound and playing style of his.
This is great. I made a bit of a garage homeage using parts of your base line. Not going to monetize it, just for my DJing and some friends to hit the clubs in sthlm since garage and uk house has a revival period here right now! cheers
Thanks a lot man. Actually I learned to play bass playin' every track off Jb's "Startime" 4-CD set. James Brown is my number one inspiration for the feeling of funk. I'm planning on play alongs for all those tracks but I'm having quite a busy schedule these days, but holidays are comin' up, I'll take some time to post a coupla JB songs :) My favorite's gotta be part 2 of Make It Funky though. Relentless ! And BTW, Theo Parish is the man... I'd love to see him live one day.
nice one. I love deep house and playing bass. always thought of playing deep house basslines like that. I gotta practice a bit to do it that tight though =) keep up the good work m8!
Very nice man! I would love for you to lay down some wicked basslines in Deep Soulful House tracks I am working on. I love MAW, Soulmagic, Grant Nelson, and yes Gene Perez is sick! Louis Benedetti used Gene on a few of his productions. Much Respect, Theo :)
The bass from Slave was Mark Adams (then later Buddy Hankerson). I think maybe Stephen Washington came to ya mind because of their lead singer, Steve Arrington ? ;)
You are an incredible bass player (I checked out some of your other videos too). You can handle any style and you've got a good feel to your playing. I'm an admirer of great bass playing (James Jamerson, Bernard Edwards, Gene Perez, Louis Johnson, Marcus Miller, the guy from Slave (his name escapes me - Stephen Washington?). Do you do session work? If not, you need to!
this is true i am actualy realy into house basslines ... most of my pod casts are to get rid of greasy slappers ,,, it all happened for me when i saw the winner family in london ,,, after that show i had to learn house bass ,,, i am in no hurry hopfully i will get arround to some outragous gospel house ,, but i am still looking and learning ,,, if u look on my webb page look for ,,, ibiza house THE ONLY ONE by The red imperial player,,,
@smurf1983 Thanks for the comments bro, but actually I don't play like Stuart Zender in this video, it's closer to the style of Gene Perez. Look him up ;)
+CoolColJ pbass sounds rounder and deeper than jbass. jbass is twangy. check out all the classic motown and meters records -thats a P. Chic's Risqué is a P also and many others.

Just seen the Deepchord mix of Juan Atkins "Starlight" is on top of the related videos. Give it a listen, it's doesn't get any better than this.
Thanks again dude, really wish I had some more free time to do some more videos... :)

Definately hear the Gene Perez influence
@MacondoGroove thanks a lot man. I really don't like the theory buff thing, but if some brothers can dig somethin outta this shit, then it's all good.

yes, it's an improvisation on a house vamp I produced.
@smurf1983 Thanks for the comments bro, but actually I don't play like Stuart Zender in this video, it's closer to the style of Gene Perez. Look him up ;)

PPleaasseee gimme more time :D
Don't worry, I do ;-) But not with house sadly... It's still more of a DJ-based music.
What chords are you playing ?
what bass guitar is that?
+CoolColJ precision bass assembled from ebay parts with an EMG pickup :)
+SlikkTim Interesting I tought it would have been a J bass, since it's so round an deep sounding
+CoolColJ pbass sounds rounder and deeper than jbass. jbass is twangy. check out all the classic motown and meters records -thats a P. Chic's Risqué is a P also and many others.
