Today, I'm reviewing one of the best dog toy in the world! Yes, you've probably heard it, it is the Kong Dog Toy! I think Kong is the perfect toy to give my boys their mental stimulation, keeping them busy while having fun at the same time! We humans can do plenty stuffs when we are bored, while couldn't do much when they are bored. And as you know, boredom could lead to many bad behaviors. So this toys is kinda a must have toy! In this video I'm using Kong Classic and Kong Extreme, which are two of the four types available. In this video, I am going to explain what you can do to make your dog love this piece of rubber, from playing fetch to stuffing treats. With this toy, you can now sit back, relax, without worrying your dog/pup running around the house! For my next upload, I am going to show you the effective way to stuff a Kong, so your dog can have fun for hours!

Take some of their kibble and mix with water, put in Kong and freeze. When ready to take out of freezer, spread a little peanut butter or cream cheese on the opening. It's good to have a few Kongs
Mine demands I stuff it with real chicken meat, or he won’t touch it (I wouldn’t either if stuffed with kibble). I normally spread pâté on the opening.

@@souldreamer9056 i have a chihuahua and i have found that often, when he is being too picky is because i am feeding him too much amount so now i weigh his kibble and he will eat everything and anything i give him. He is a healthy weight as per my VET.

My mom recently got a new dog. Another black cocker spaniel 3 days ago, and she's about 8 to 9 weeks old.
I convinced you to get one of those Kong toys, in the shape of a gourd, though I convinced you because it would have been durable enough. but I need help on getting her interested in it.
First, give her the kong with her fave treats inside or with wet dog food. Do that for a couple of days so that she starts associating the Kong with delicious food. Praise the dog while she is playing with the Kong. If no interest, make sure the Kong is the right size for her. If in doubt, size up! A size too small will be hard for her to take the food out and will discourage her and a size too big will be far too easy to get the food out. If still no interest change around the food inside, give her her favorite until she learns. Now after a couple of days, start freezing your Kong. My chihuahua showed far more interested in frozen Kongs than not frozen. I fill the kong with wet dog food first, then kibble mixed with water for a while (kibble becomes fluffy), then wet dog food as a finisher and freeze overnight. My chi spends around 1 hour with a size S classic (red) Kong.
I saw a different video which suggested getting around four of them!! That's a bit insane i think... But they out them in the freezer so the food is more solid. I'm just a bit scared the frozen food will cause damage to the tongue

Just got a goldendoodle pup. Never used a kong. I could see how the dog could get to the food close to the hole but doesn't wet food stay stuck in the kong further from the hole where their tongue doesn't reach?

Yes! but Kong Toys aren't interactive toys, use them when you are busy so your dog still has a job to do.
My dog was the same way for years, she stopped playing with toys and hates squeaky toys. I picked up a Kong toy shaped like a normal ball with small ridges and she loves it. The ridges make it sound like it still has treats when it rolls so she continues trying to get more out. Got it at Marshall’s for $2 too!

This is a long comment/advise so if your in a hurry you may want to skip it or come back later :).
This information is from the trenches so to speak not all of its from the laboratory as far as the breakage ability etc.
Some have asked what are the big differences between the Red Classic and the Black Extreme Chewer?
Here are a couple that you will notice. I have a Labrador and they have an extreme biting force. Therefore, I prefer the Extreme Kongs.
You will notice the large entry hole edges and the center lines all the way around where the Kong flexes start to show signs of either semi acute to longer term wear.
I prefer the XL to XXL Extreme Black ones for a 40lb and up Its the way to go hands down. However, they are not cheap and the extreme ones are sometimes very hard to find. A very good deal would be a price point on $17.00. Regular price seams to be around the $25.00 -$26.00 especially at Tractor supply and only if they are in stock. You can sometimes get them at Pet Smart. I have never bought more than three to justify paying to have them shipped to me.
Here are some ideas, if your dog does not have either any allergies or contraindications to the mentioned ingredients.
I have about twenty of these that I have accrued over a four year period. Ninety nine percent of the time the Kongs are served frozen. That allows them to be harder to consume which takes on average 45 minutes sometimes 30 minutes with easy to access ingredients.
1. Canned salmon, canned peas and canned carrots. Drain off ALL the water which will cut down on all the squirting plus some sodium. Mix thoroughly in large mixing bowl and stuff the Kongs completely full and freeze.
Or
2. Bananas then freeze.
Or
3. Their Kibble with some bread and water then freeze.
Or
4. Kibble and a little peanut butter then freeze.
Or
5. Pumpkin then freeze.
I have timed it multiple occasions and the freezing extends the amount of access time by of at least 15 minutes and allows them to be prepared ahead of time and they can be used on the fly which is an extreme advantage.
If you have an income that doesn't support buying all of them at once as I had, just start out with 1-3 and work your way up. But my advise would be pay a little more for the best (Extreme's) and you don't run the risk of two very very undesirable things happening. Your dog(s) possibly breaking off a piece of the Kong and ingesting it and/or you having to replace Kongs that are worn out or destroyed if there are dogs out there with that kind of power.
It may be the wrong sizes selected in those cases. You have to remember not to buy to small of a Kong because it's a potential airway obstruction and your giving the dog the mechanical advantage. Here's what I mean. What is harder for an adult human to chew a grape or an apple. We have to work at apple to get it down to where it's manageable.
As far as cleaning the Kong I use two methods. Remember, you don't want all the many pathogens that are in a canines mouth growing in the 2 1/2 gallon zip lock storage bags that you will have to store them in in most cases.
Using hot water from the sink sprayer. Spray the inside and outside off thoroughly. Especially if it's been outside where it will have dirt, most likely hair and tons of saliva on it. Very important step to not over look. It's not fun work but when we take on the responsibility of taking care of one of God's most precious creatures we can't be "Steve and Susie Slacker" if you get the point.
I take boiling water from my wifes counter top tea kettle which boils water in about 4-5 minutes (available at Target I believe) and pour that over top of the Kong while it's in a mixing bowl and leave for about 20-30 minutes which gives plenty of time to kill pathogens.
Or put in dishwasher.

@@PawtyTime I wouldn't leave any dog unaccompanied with a kong - certainly not for long periods of time. I wouldn't leave a child unaccompanied with any toy they could conceivably choke on and I wouldn't put a dog at risk either. I'm honestly not being dramatic - these things happen.

From what I have read “Puppy Kongs are much more malleable than the Kongs designed for older dogs, and they have super soft rubber, making them excellent chew toys for teething puppies”
