    It's uncommon to stay connected to a childhood friend, it's rare to go into a business with a childhood friend, and it's unheard of to be in a business AND maintain such a close friendship that these two have. Rhett and Link are not only wildly successful as business owners but also as people in general. Pay attention to their insight, they've got it figured out.

      Indeed - I'm very lucky to be in a similar situation and sometimes I don't even understand how lucky I am. I'm (at almost 50 years old) still best friends with many of my teenage year friends and three of us run a company together. Maybe that's one of the reasons I'm drawn to R&L.

    Hearing link say he felt like a sidekick hurt, he's so important to the operation and he is absolutely 50% of the team, just because Rhett is more confident and a comfortable force doesn't discount Link's contributions.

    It's interesting that Link sees it as starting with him as the sidekick, when Rhett describes it as Link was being entertaining and Rhett went to help. It seems like Rhett might not think it started with Link as a sidekick.

    Every workplace "leader" should be introduced to Rhett and Link. How these two treat each other and their team of people is incredibly rare. To see the respect and love that they have for one another, it's really sweet. They're good guys to their cores and they've made an awesome empire with GMM.     I really appreciate how all four of them, including Ian, are so different and mature in their own ways. Anthony is very emotionally attuned and aware, Ian is an emotional anchor, Rhett is very intellectual and analytical and Link is chaotic but has a unique sense of empathy. Their different lives and perspectives have brought out the best in them. Especially the entire smosh debacle, which matured Ian and Anthony a lot but in different ways

    "You never get to a point where you don't have to talk through things" is a statement that really resonates with me.     Its the way they both never have anything negative to say about each other like not even as jokes
    They care about each other so much and it shows even without them trying
    They r genuinely the most wholesome duo in entertainment history and buying smosh was just such an amazing act of kindness honestly from one creator to another
    Like they gave them complete creative control despite being the owners
    U can really just see how kind and genuine rhett and link are just seeing them makes me happy

    I love Rhett and Link together, but seeing them interview separately was actually really lovely too. It's wonderful to see how they talk about one another and how wise they both are. It's quite clear they have such a strong bond and friendship together and both lift each other up in many different ways. Also, lovely to see Anthony interview them seeing as he closely relates in a lot of ways with his friendship with Ian. Honestly, Rhett and Link are absolute heroes for fostering SMOSH when they needed it the most. They're both just such lovely guys & it was really sweet to see Anthony thank them personally. Proud to have been a fan of Rhett and Link for many years and will continue to be a fan for many years to come.     Rhett and Link were a lot older when they started their channel, that’s why I think they were able to communicate a bit better to keep things together. Goes to show the mind is still developing from 20s to 30s. And I’ve felt it for sure.

    As someone who follows GMM, it's so lovely to hear Link's fear tried to take over and Rhett made sure it didn't. As someone with extreme anxiety, what they both had to say about it was really inspiring and something to learn from. So nice to learn more about who they are as both individuals and a duo.

    I don't think it gets shown enough how incredibly wise and savvy both of them are in their own rights. Link is 100% correct. Having navigated children, marriages and knowing how to properly communicate through other challenges meant they came in strong to UA-cam

    I love how well Anthony vibes with both Rhett and Link. You can tell that they all mutually respect each other but at the same time you can see the mentorship in place. Anthony, even though he is the interviewer in this episode, he still asks for advice from them, and it's so visible how much he looks up to them. By far my favorite interview ❤

    Why are Rhett and Link such healthy individuals?! I am a fan of them, and to continuously hear them speak so eloquently about their relationships and their feelings. They have seemed to let go a lot of toxic masculinity and it's so refreshing to see/hear.

    Rhett and Link basically raised me. I’ve been watching them for half of the time I’ve been alive on the Earth. And Smosh was such a huge part of my childhood. This interview was incredible and heartwarming and I’m so so so excited for watch Smosh with Anthony and Ian together again 💕

    When Link said, "in my heart of hearts, I never felt like Smosh was ours", my own heart lit up. I had imagined how Rhett and Link might comment to that point weeks ago when the news broke about Smosh being bought back. That is exactly how I thought Link would respond. I think I watch too much GMM lol

      Cute. I'm also married to my best friend, like actually married in my case, but it doesn't really make too much of a difference when there is love and commitment, life doesn't provide us with enough good representation of relationships that can stand the test of time,.. no matter the type.

    I really find it so weird how we gravitate toward familiarity without even knowing it. I mean Anthony and Rhett seem so similar and they both found this lifelong best friend even with having ups and downs and now own businesses together and they all work together. Really is such a small world, you are the sum of the people you surround yourself with

    Proof that successful friendships need as much communication as successful marriages. Needs can be both romantic and platonic. Link is so insightful and emotionally aware. Rhett is a good balance in his spontaneity and rationale. I'd kill for a friendship like that. No wonder I resort to Smosh and Mythical for entertainment.

    side note: rhett’s solo music project “james and the shame” is amazing and deserves so much more recognition. highly recommended listening for anyone deconverting or who has religious trauma. 10/10 will make you cry and feel less alone

    I am a big fan of GMM and Smosh. Grew up on them both. To have Rhett and Link help save Smosh and then sell it back to Ian and Anthony is special. They are all UA-cam legends!

    it makes me so happy how all these og youtubers are like a family they’re all genuinely rooting for each other and constantly supporting their endeavors it’s so heartwarming especially how you can tell everyone from that era got into this purely for the love and joy of it (and that’s not to say there aren’t still creators like that but admittedly now that this has become a career there are a slew of people in it for money and/or notoriety over love of creating)

    I always knew Rhett and Link were talented, but I always payed attention to the business aspect, not the personal. These men are extremely emotionally talented, balancing being a father, a husband, and a best friend full time along with a job where you have to be professional with one of those people, and stand up for yourself against someone you love when it comes to business deals.... wow. They have found the magic mix of friendship, family, romance, and business. Round of fucking applause guys, i've been watching GMM since I was eight, im now 17. My internet dads fr, I love them.

    I love the duo dynamic, because it's usually they are genuinely friends and they play off each other, and tell each other the truth like it is. It's hard to be just you in a world that has a lot of more interesting thems, but to be us, is like easier because we have someone to pick us up when we don't think our ideas are that great. And then they are married so ultimate happiness

    I freaking love this. Creators supporting creators, really makes an amazing duo to give you the confidence and strength back to do what you love and having ppl support you and believe in you.
    I relate so much working in the game dev industry, the community becomes your family and is so ingrained in your personal life and passion so it’s so wonderful to see that click when you’re finally where you want to be, with your crew backing you up and having your back. It’s so easy to get burned out when you invest so much of your own personal time and energy so having ppl onboard to help steer the ship in the right direction is going to make you go miles, no doubt ❤️
