  • @sethh8892
    @sethh8892 6 років тому +8

    You should drill a extremely small holes on the sides of the engine compartments, and have oil dripping down into those holes so that the Pistons get lubricated more... doing this would be like normal oil inside of an engine and would keep them running better and smoother and probably faster... then you won't have to worry about melting the freaking pistonheads...

    Rub the cylinders in a bit of disco "banana oil", would give a much cooler smoke effect (with less damage to your LEGO) ... :)

      the flywheel has nothing to do with piston balance, it just simply keeps the crank spinning until the next power stroke

    why does everyone say add oil...oils primary use it to keep things lubricated, as it's metal on metal, not necessarily to keep things cool, as it does help with the latter, that's the point of the radiator and airflow with antifreeze/coolant, all you Lego mechanics out there....

    • @michaelovitch
      @michaelovitch 7 років тому

      Never heard of oil cooled engines ?
      older gsxr motorcycles for example had an oil cooled engine,with a big oil capacity and specific oil galleries and squirters,like an oil cooler,quite huge.
      Oil is cooling down the engine at around 20 % on a standard engine,wich is liquid cooled.
      oil is not only a lubricant,particularly on turbo engines wich are the main type nowadays.

    • @punk105
      @punk105 7 років тому

      michaelovitch I'm just trying to tell people that oiling would only do so much, it would still get hot....and it's not the primary function

    • @punk105
      @punk105 7 років тому

      Isaac it would reduce the friction, but not necessarily reduce the heat...the difference would be minute, and probably wouldn't make much difference, plus at 10k RPMs the oil is just going to be lost.

    • @LithiumChar
      @LithiumChar 7 років тому +1

      Corey Trevor yes good point about it being lost but the heat in that is purely caused by friction

    • @serge933
      @serge933 7 років тому

      Oil does aid in cooling engines especially if it is air cooled, the oil runs through a small radiator though. Either way in this case it could help a little, but it's Lego lol

  • @D_Vice88
    @D_Vice88 7 років тому +15

    dude your not considering plastic material. oils are used to let metal engines endure heat and vibration. if you don't use some kind of lubricant or something to preserve the plastics structural integrity against structure resonating motion, it will just melt at enough friction heat or the structure will fail around the ratio of motion of mass. when you create that amount of force so efficiently you need to contain as much as you create, the idea that lego mechanics can achieve this with plastic materials is the feat in of itself. but theres always a better mouse trap..
