Beautiful Mooney, congrats!!
Tom, forgive me, but where does all the cash come from?!!
Probably works for it.
Probably works his ass of … doesn’t seem like the lazy one 😇
Came to ask about the Sidewinder :) I have a '64 E (I'm in VA, we should fly sometime!) -- do you like the Sidewinder tug? It's $2200 and seems crazy overpriced, but I really want one. Impossible to find used. Thanks, Tommy!
It’s super convenient. It belongs to a buddy of mine who has a Mooney parked on the ramp so never uses it. It’s expensive but well built.
Is there a difference between the Super 21 E and the standard E model? Nice plane btw
Earlier models are all super 21s I believe. They stopped production in 1968 and then restarted in 1969 when they changed it to the chaparral I think at that point the biggest difference was electric gear
She's a beaut, how long did it take to master the landing. I fly a old 172 lol
Honestly not that long. Just need to be disciplined about your speeds.
What are the downsides? How much is an annual?
I do owner assisted annuals which saves me a bunch of money. There are additional costs associated with having retractable gear, etc. but with the manual gear it’s really not much more than any other annual.
What tips do you have for new, low time cessna 172 pilot jumping into an M20E? Outside of transition training and endorsements of course.
Great panel layout ... thanks for the walk-through. Question: was the bottom section (where the toggle switches and pull levers are located) resurfaced, or did you have a new section fabricated? That section (which is metal) on my '67 M20F is aged ... I've tried buffing it out, but it doesn't look as good as yours.
It’s kind of funny I probably weigh as much as him and his wife so with me and a big friend and some baggage there is no full fuel, but this guy with him and his whole family he can probably get very close to full fuel I’m mean I have pants bigger than both of them so why I say baggage look out.😂
Happy for you on the newer Mooney. It's sweet! Keep that great content coming.
Well thought out and laid out panel. You'll really like the GFC500 when you install that, try and get them to place it somewhere reachable for both pilots. You may never need the "magic blue button" but your copilot may. Also recommend the Garmin GTP-59 Outside air temp probe. This will give you three more tools on the G5's, On your AI, it computes TAS and shows it top left, when on the ground you'll get DA bottom right. On the HSI, HW & CW top left. And if in the mood to spend just a bit more money... the CIES calibrated fuel senders in the tanks that may feed to your engine management, so you know exactly whats in the tanks. I added those items in my plane, love and use them every flight.
Thanks for the walk around.
Couple of questions:
What is your useful load?
How hard is it to find parts?
950lbs and not too bad for how old it is. The engine is popular as well so a lot of mechanics are familiar with working on them.
Nice walk around Tom, a few more bells and whistles compared to my Peabee😁.
I'm 5"10, 165 lbs, fly 787's and can't afford this airplane
What is wrong with a Cherokee!? lol sweet plane man, congrats. I bet your looking forward to that autopilot 👍🏻
Mine sharing the hours/pricing/etc for the gfc autopilot install
Welcome to the club of the GTN 750 in a Mooney, I love it in mine. I have noticed you are just 1 step ahead of me in the training department.
I'm so jelly. Congrats man!
LOL on the ending comment! 😂
Gosh your eyes are so pretty.
Nice job, thanks.
The only problem with this airplane is that I just wouldn't fit in it. At least comfortably. Otherwise, pretty ccol! Cherokee driver.
I’ve got a hanger buddy who flies a Cherokee. I need to measure the cabins one of these days to truly see the difference.
6ft in the back of an E hahahaha
I enjoyed the tour around your Mooney up until your Cherokee comment. I own a Cherokee 235. I forgive you bro. Great content. I look forward to your next.
Haha. I figured that would stir up some shit.
Friends do let friends buy Comanches though!
Of course.
Mooney's are nice planes!
That's so awesome man, congratulations on a sweet plane! I was on hour 8 of a 10 hour drive to go look at an almost identical set up to yours when the seller texted saying it was just sold for full asking price. I don't blame the guy at all but it was still a kick in the nuts driving that far to not even get to see it.
That rough…
Do you mind disclosing the price you paid or what it was listed for? I am in the market for an m20 but the prices vary so widely. Id like one similar to this set up.
Once the autopilot is installed it will be worth about $120k
@@Tommyflies OMG lol way outta my budget. Im looking around $70k. Your M20 is so sick though! what did you list the last M20 for?
@@MarioLoco03 I own the airplane with one other person which helps. My last one was worth about $60k. If you look hard enough, you can get into a nice Mooney for under 70.
@@Tommyflies bravo dude. The last one was pretty cool too.
