*Swoon* Julian Ovenden is a marvelous combination of tenor voice and superb acting skills and amazing energy. Such a shame he's not on the cast recording. :-(
This is the first look I've had at this show - and it makes me want to see much more of it. I'm sorry to read above that Ovenden had vocal problems during the run because he is brilliant in this number. I love the rhythm of the verse and the powerful melody of the refrain. This number has the wonderful Yeston sound.
THANK YOU for posting this! Earley is a fantastic singer and gives a very competent performance on the cast album, which I'm very thankful to have. And yet, I've always felt that Ovenden's voice has a certain quality and gravitas that seems more appropriate for the role, as confirmed in this clip. Until now, the only available record of his performance has been via the official promotional video, which only contains a few brief snippets. So I very much appreciate being able to experience something more substantial.
If you have any other Julian Openden videos from "death takes a holiday", please consider posting them. I saw the show both with Julian Ovenden as well as Kevin Erley. Not to take anything away from Kevin's performance, but Julians voice and energy was phenomenal. I really appreciated the two videos you've posted from that show I regret that was never a cast recording with Julian on it.
Thank you for this treasure! I fell in love with Julian's performance of "I Thought That I Could Live" and this song is also wonderful. Seconded to Octavia - is there any chance to see the full record? I'm dying to see Ovenden's version of Death. Anyway, thank you VERY much!
Beautiful! And he sings well, too!
He is beautiful and sings beautifully

You forgot that he is absolutely handsome to boot too
This man has all the best cards. And everything in spades. BRAVO! The character knows all there is to know and has never experienced anything.
Es guapísimo y lo hace de maravilla!
All of the numbers from this show are hauntingly beautiful.

To Star Sky: Agreed---he and the song are very good. Thanks for the perceptive comment.

To D. March: Thank you--well said, and glad you enjoyed it.
I loved this show. Saw it quite by accident on an impromptu trip to NYC. Great cast
And he plays the piano beautifully as well.
This number is just absolutely adorable and funny…I just wanna give Death a hug.
Looking forward to seeing him in South Pacific on my birthday in chichester next week
Thank you very much for posting.. if you have ' More and More' please post it..it's so rare to find these amazing things
Outstanding!
Thank you thank you thank you
Loved it!
I have no idea why this show did not move to Broadway. One of the best shows I have seen in years.
Um…probably because the premise would not have attracted many people.
For anyone who doesn't know of the title death takes a holiday, it's this really melodramatic old movie and it's great
I saw it with Kevin Early who was excellent. Its running now in London. I liked that production even more. Hope one day for a full B'way run.

Does anyone know the lyrics?
SO WHAT IS HE DOING THESE DAYS??? DID HE GET HIS VOICE BACK???
Oh yes, very much so, and he has done musicals, plays and TV ("Downton Abbey") since.
Is there any way to get a copy of the whole show?
This is a musical???????????
