    Too many reviews of expensive bikes, in motorcycle journalism and on the internet, and not enough like this, that might get more people into motorcycling - the lifeblood of its survival.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  5 років тому +25

      Yer the 1000cc bikes get the views that's why people stick to the larger stuff but it's of no help to new riders at all. These won't get as many views but are far more useful to people. Glad you appreciate that 🙂

    • @monck552
      @monck552 5 років тому +7

      Correct. The average age of a U.K. biker is now 47, and they are generally better off than younger/newer riders, hence the relatively healthy sales of more expensive bikes. New blood, interest and money is what's needed for motorcycling to thrive.

    Passed my CBT today at age of 60 on one of these which the test centre had. Never seen one until today and guessed it would cost about 3,500 and was amazed to find out it was 1600! I honestly wish I hadn't ordered my Honda CB125f at nearly 3k now. It performed flawlessly today.

    Just brought a year old one of these for my partner. 900 Miles on the clock. Paid £1150 for it. Been riding years myself, sports bikes to roadsters. Well I was really impressed, build quality and smoothness for a Chinese 125 cc. She hasn't done her cbt yet, so I took her out on it. You couldn't even notice the difference being 2 up, still pulled really well, took the twisty back roads nicely too. Only thing she said was being on the back didn't feel as safe as my triumph. Popping to town I'll definitely be pinching this 👍
    Great vid, helped me choose one of these for her to learn on

    I do very much like the 125 Chinese bike market that exists in the UK - Lexmoto and Sinnis are great examples as to how bike companies should be: Their official pages promote riders of their bikes and celebrate the custom/modding scene of their bikes; they have an official supplier of parts so if something goes wrong or you fuck yourself in a crash, 3 minutes of ordering stuff online and a few hours in the garage can have your bike looking as good as new; and they always learn from their customers and what their target audience wants

    Average cost for me to refill my 125 cruiser is £15 i can get anywhere between 150/170 ish miles till i need to refill again and thats mainly city riding. Cruisers are meant more for comfort of riding than speed. There for they are generally better for those who have joint or back issues. As for the mirrors ive just re adjusted mine abit so they arnt as wide and they still work well.

    update for the 2023 E5 Hoodlum, don't know if it's the same for older models: the wheels are spoked on the Hoodlum as opposed MAG on the Michigan. I got the Hoodlum because after nearly 50 years riding bikes and 43 of those on the road, MAGs run better offroad than spokes, also spokes run better on tarmac. My intended use is strictly on-road.

    A negative mark is the lazy speedo. Even Euro makes do it. Metric on the outside, British on the inside. I tried this format on an insurance bike. The dual readouts are hard to use if you want the inside one. So you HAVE to use the outside one.
    One of the reasons I went towards a Honda - give me what I expect.
    I have combo brakes and doing a U turn when the front starts to brake means the front can wash out slowly on gravel. I may split the brakes up.

      If you reliability is no.1 for you, go with one of the big four. These bikes are cheap yes so you can't expect a 4k Honda for 2k. Now saying that you might still get an issue with a Honda and you might not for the lexmoto. It's kinda the 2 sides you have to balance.

      @@peterryan7827 I've had mine for a few years now, and if they are looked after these bikes should be fine. All bikes are going to need annual servicing and running repairs/inspections to be reliable. If you do the work yourself, then parts are nice and cheap. Great if something breaks, but might mean things don't last as long as you might like. Some mechanics don't work on Chinese bikes, so probably worth chatting to your local one to see what they recommend. My normal garage wouldn't even put a rear tire on it recently.
      As spicy says, a big 4 bike might be a safer bet, but there is a bit more range of styles from the chinese importers if you want something more interesting.
      Then again the centre stand broke off my Honda PCX and I had to have the engine casing replaced under warranty (excellent place to bolt a stand). So if you want trouble free transport, motorbiking might not be best. But it is the most fun - short of flying.

      A fuel switch is used to turn the fuel off when the bike is standing. Most EFI bikes don't have them however as simply they are not needed, the reason for them being on bikes in the first place relates to bikes with carburettors. I don't remember the Michigan I had for review having a fuel tap however.

    I wonder if Chinese imported motorcycles will be treated by Europe the same way as e-bikes (as of July 2018) that is by applying swinging tariffs (currently up to 86%) as part of an anti-dumping measure?
    Today, importers have to factor in UK duty, freight costs and HMRC VAT and now anti-dumping duty costs typically moving a factory price of say £2000 to nearly £5000 to protect European manufacturers!

      Where did i get that price? It was the price at the time this video was made in 2019. The reason the price has changed is this was a euro 4 bike, now we are under euro 5 and for that reason the new one costs more.

      That kinda depends in the yard stick you hold it up to. It's a 125cc so yes very little power and it's a cruiser style that isn't designed for speed, hence the name.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  2 роки тому

      I did talk about the Hoodlum in the video. This is how Chinese motorcycles work, a factory in china make the bikes and people can buy them branded in factory to their brand with small changes and sell them as totally different brand and model bikes. It is a very common thing to see, just like on amazon you can find say the same water bottle with 10 different brands.
