The future is blindingly bright for this squad. Pulisic, Reyna, Balogun, Weah, Turner, Jedi, Dest, McKennie, Scally, Richards, damn near EVERYONE showed out in this tournament. If they can grow to hit this level consistently, we will be one of the best international teams in the world
He did an amazing job. Reality check though, the man has never had a head coaching job. Has some good ideas for sure- hopefully he has some influence in the future. A really good assistant can make/allow the manager think it was his idea 😉
I don’t understand some people’s logic. When talking about Berhalter, everyone said the nations league and gold cup were not very important. Then when BJ wins the nations cup it’s like a second coming. It’s so much more important now lol.
Vibes are immaculate. All colors and races represented with this team. Also a young team that the country can get behind for the 26 run. Let’s go for Copa America next summer boys 🇺🇸🏆
who gives two shakes about colors? See the problem is people like you even bring it up in the first place, they're Americans and they're playing for America instead of being sellouts. Why even bring up what color they are? This obsession with race needs to end
McKennie needs to be replaced though, sore loser to starts playing dirty when things don't go his way We need players who play honestly and don't start diving and making bad tackles just because we aren't ahead
Because the Serie A has tougher competition than the Concacaf nations league, I think he should move to a mid table side in the prem, like west ham or Fulham to get more time
I think a bunch of his issues are mental yes he isn't great defensively but we saw him stonewall people against Mexico although they kinda suck. But you saw him lose his head which I get but I think that points back to some of his other issues. I would guess his head is worse away from the USMNT where he is comfortable and has good teammates and support
In my opinion, our first legitimate "Golden Generation" began at this tournament. They always had the potential, but this is the first time we see a team that has this much talent and ability.
They definitely have the potential to be. That term has different meanings for different teams. For a Germany or a France it must include a World Cup title. For a Panama it meant making the World Cup. For the US it means a decade of regional dominance and at least a World Cup quarterfinal. They can definitely do that.
They've always had this talent. GGG in the past just hasn't played or brought all the best players at once and also his old system prevented them from playing like this. It was hold the ball pass around back and fullbacks fly up overlap and hit a cross. Now we've had managers play Gio where he is best at the 10 spot centrally the fullbacks stayed back a bit and we played more free and less rigid because they didn't have Gregg there with his 1000 slide PowerPoint system that is too complex for a national team and hinders what they can actually do. Also we didn't drop back and defend as soon as we got a 1 goal lead we kept going.
I would contest, that since thus is the same core group of players, that beating Mexico in the last nations league final was the sea change for this generation or “golden generation “
These players have a chance to form/create our Golden Generation team. Support these guys through every challenge, I know it’ll be worth it. Super excited about what happens next for U.S. soccer. Let’s go!!!
agreed. I think the chemistry from this group has and will continue to create great achievements. I enjoy rooting for these guys. And it's not been an easy road, which shows why talent alone won't get you there. Even in this game, missing 2/3 of our best midfielders (Adams & McKennie), the USMNT defended their trophy. Only a group effort makes that happen.
These lads have chemistry that I have never seen in a US national squad, they all got each others’ backs, and yet many of them compete against each other on the regular. I guess it is true that iron sharpens iron.
Congrats, boys. Without getting too carried away, my lord...aside from legitimate talent, this team has youth AND depth. It's rare to have both. And somehow their youth also has so much international experience.
With the talent and depth of this team we need to have high expectations. That means at least a Copa semifinal next summer and a World Cup quarterfinal in 26.

I fear it will stifle the progress and constrict the positive culture that was cultivated. Damn.

Any US coach that plays the proper lineup and doesn't handicap his players with a mediocre system is going to dominate CONCACAF.
