Chargers only have to make 2 cuts and they’ll have money. It’s not as bad as everyone says.

@@ziggzaggzip8241can’t restructure Mack’s contract he has 1 year left, it would have to be an extension, and bosas dead cap would be huge if we do cut him this year and not to mention JCs dead cap hit, it won’t be pretty but we have to cut at least 3 players this year and money next year will be tight

Cap issue is only an issue for 2024, 2025 and onwards we should be set on extending Slater and bringing in more guys Harbaugh wants.
As a Chargers fan who has let this football team ruin every Sunday during the fall for almost 2 decades. The most important part of this Jim Harbaugh hire is that we have finally seen Dean Spanos, open the wallet, and hire an A+, HIGH PRICED coach and the guy that ALL THE FANS wanted. That's a very unlike Spanos decision. Props to Dean and John for making it happen
We forget that WHEN he played, he was known as "Captain Comeback". The dude is never out, never quits, never say die. He goes down standing up facing his enemies (Ask Pete Carrol when he was the USC Coach)

Love what you had to say on this. As a Chargers fan I'm soooo pumped. One thing that always confuses me though is when people say the Rams are more relevant in LA. I've lived in SoCal my entire life and I've literally only ever met 1 Rams fan in my life. I don't ever see Rams jersey's either, only Chargers and Raiders. Nobody here gives af about the Rams 🤷♂️
The cap issue is actually not as bad as it looks. It can be resolved by letting some overrated talent go. If you let just Bosa and Williams go, you no longer over the cap and you actually have a little room. They’re players who mostly don’t play anyway. Lindsey is also unfortunately retiring, but it also helps with the cap
It would be great if they could trade Mack to a contender for a day 2 pick.

Yes, the cap issue is real. What’s going to be left are studs none the less: QB, LT, WR++, EDGE+, SS, FS, LB, TE (#5 PICK ’24) this is a solid core for Jim Harbaugh to develop a team around. Cap casualties: Bosa, Williams, Linsley, others?
All three. Linsley is unfortunately retiring. Bosa and Williams are mostly paid to be at the doctor instead of the field anyways. Just with that, we’re back under the cap. It’s bad, bit not that bad. Harbaugh can turn this around pretty quick
Have to think they extend/ restructure Bosa and Keenan’s deals and cut Williams, Mack
The Chargers could use an upgrade at almost every positional group. Telasco was terrible throughout his tenure.
Bosa seems to miss more games than he plays. Allen isn’t getting any younger & has missed his fair shares of games as well the last few seasons

As a Raiders fan I just want to say I love A.P and and glad he is our couch, but man I wish Harbaugh was not in our division....
Harbaugh didn't "Draft Alex Smith" and Alex Smith didn't have time with Andy Reid..." I think it was Dick Vermeil. Andy Reed was still in Philadelphia at that time. if I remember correctly.
Assuming all four of these guys want to stay here. Is there any way at all possible with restructuring and extensions to keep Keenan, Mike, Mack and Bosa?

Cap issues are not that complicated and crazy as people are making it to be, I feel. Cut Mike Williams, Khalil Mack unfortunately. Restructure Allen and maybe cut Kendricks as well and I believe that Corey Lindsley is also retiring which should free up plenty more cap space.
Khalil Mack will get restructured, he has performed wayyyyy better then hoped. M Dub is gone sadly and probably kendricks.

The two best QB's in the AFC West are clearly Mahpmes and Herbert. Mahomes always had Reed as his HC given the Chiefs the advantage over Den, LV, and LAC.
Herbert had a terrible HC in Staley and still put up NFL QB records and now has Harbaugh for his HC. LAC and the KCC will begin to battle for AFC West dominance against one another.

So charges lost those one score games but I Herbert's career the defense avg total d ranks 30th over his first 4 years that is the problem, Herbert has the NFL record for 3 yrs most game winning drives/ 4th qtr comebacks 13/9 in his first 48 games when comparing to mahomes he had 6/6 in his first 50 games. Herbert also has NFL record for first three years qb total pass yards (1st nfl), 1500 completions, (1stNFL), total tds(2nd in nfl behind Marino), most 300+ yards(22gms 1st in nfl) and Herbert passing O rank was 6th,2nd, 3rd in first 3 years, chargers total D ranked over Jh career is 27th,32nd,30th,26th. No sb winners ever with worse than 25th total NY Giants. He doesn't need too much, he has the record for most gm winning drives/ 4th qtr comebacks 13/9 and that is like double mahomes and Marino in first 50 gms. And I watched his defense lose him like 10 games where he would drive down score and defense would give up the lead in two plays and lose

We will see when Mahomes safety blanket retires. Kelce is a big part of that offense. Mahomes is great for sure but soon we will see how great.

Cap issue is bad if you keep the old guys, i think rip bandaid off. linsley retires , trade bosa , cut mack , cut Williams, cut Keenan rip , cut fox , cut kenrickss thats 53 mill over the cap. Sign Tee Higgins , Shultz , Brian Burnz , Onwenu , CB and resign dicker the kicker. Draft early CB , DL , C , TE then later rounds LB , WR , RB , EDGE and late late T and DL depth. It needs to be semi blown up imo.

"cap hell" is when you're over the cap and cannot re-sign key players. They literally have to cut two guys and the cap is fixed. Stop it.
Broncos don't have a quarterback and the raiders have a first time coach . The chargers are not built like a Michigan team and build more like Oregon . Jim will have to clean house and start over . Even the quarterback will have to learn new code which maybe a good thing as he won't be relied on to pull a rabbit from his hat . I suspect the chargers will struggle similar to Payton and the broncos

When Harbaugh was with the 49ers, he took over an already loaded team that was filled with top 10 picks, failed to win a SB, and then left when his roster fell apart after several awful draft classes. This Chargers team isn't half as talented as that 49ers team was at the start.

He was a loser at UM until he started cheating. He took a great roster in SF who underachieved under Singletary, to a Super Bowl loss. Stanford sucked until Luck’s dad made him go there. When you see what he did a UM, you have to wonder what cheating he did at his other stops.
