This is the first video showing a keris made by a foreigner. I was touched to see it. As a Javanese, I know that the keris is not an ordinary weapon. In ancient Javanese belief, the keris is forged by undergoing special rituals by the master (Empu). Before forging the metal blade, empu fasts, does not eat, does not drink, and does special meditation. Doing purification of the heart and mind then choose a special day to start working. On every Javanese New Year's Eve, the keris is washed with a special ceremony. Prayers and mantras are recited while washing the keris with holy water and sacred flowers. Because it is treated very spiritually, the kris is often inhabited by spirits. This spirit then makes the keris into a more powerful weapon. Thanks for the beautiful video. It's an honor for us.
Tidak terbayang, Bagaimana Orang Indonesia Jaman dulu membuat Keris dengan Cara Tradisional dan membuatnya sangat Bagus , melihat Anda Saja membuat Keris dengan Peralatan Modern terlihat cukup sulit dan ada beberapa kegagalan, Luar biasa nenek moyang Bangsa Indonesia khususnya Orang Jawa, tetapi saya sendiri adalah orang Melayu Indonesia , Nice Work dude 👍

As an Indonesian, I'd like to thank you for investing your time and energy to make this beautiful relic. Your keris is really a masterpiece of art! 🇮🇩🇰🇷
I appreciate that you held the keris at the end properly in the demonstrations, wielding it like a gun with the pistol-shaped handle and stabbing with that added support rather than holding it like a traditional knife/dagger! It’s clear you did your research, your craftsmanship is beyond praise!
I seldom watch blade forging videos but now i know that a blade is consists of hundred layers of metal itself. And to see thousands of layers of metal smelted into such thin on the edge to medium thickness keris blade in the middle is amazing.

I ever read an article that said the wave of the keris in the ancient methode, didn't come from manualy bending it. Instead the blacksmith at the ancient time using different thickness of coating to the sword similiar to the coating on katana blade. So when the sword is heated and glowing, it will create those wave when the sword is put into water. They repeat the coating and heating process several times until the sword become perfectly made
keris done by forgein metal layer by layer until become 1 blade. get 7 pieces of metal then start hammering.. also keris blade that done layer by layer is so that poison can be pour/smoke to be absorb at the blade.. keris is a type of dagger not sword. and use for slice/ thrust at enemy . next, let poison do the job. wave of keris also have meaning, every waves stand for hierachy of user. example, 5 waves use by normal people while 7 use by general/ royalty ..
We are Javanese people, make this weapon like a Jedi with his lightsaber. It was a spiritual weapon. But I'm glad to watch your work in this weapon. Matur nuwun.. 🙏🏻🇮🇩
very nice job... superb workmanship. some tips about keris, the tang should be cylindrical. cause, the hilt must be turn-able 360 degree (interchangeable for right/left-handed users just by twisting the hilt position) and also for ceremonial purposes. the lower part of the blade (between blade and hilt) is called "cicak keris", means "lizard of kris". so it must have the outline shape of a lizard if we look from top/bottom (got head, belly and tail) and separate from the blade (like habaki but hold still) lastly, keris usually not sharp. it's a stab weapon and be used to cause slow painful death. the wave cause fatal damage to the victim. overall, superb job, sir.
one more thing, keris is a supernatural craft and the making of itself have many rituals, so then a spirit could be possessed of it. A keris can stand vertically (without fall).
Actually, this Keris are used more for stab people's, not to slice people's like sword. Hai 🙌I'm from javanese tribe, indonesia 🇮🇩😊🙏..."keris" in our tradition is not just for a weapon like sword,it's an traditional art,and have a lot of philosopic meaning, and for symbol of status too..there are some traditional ritual before making a keris, probably to comunicate with our ancient ancestors, soo that the keris become more powerfull n look more beautiful n has a soul within...almost every old keris in java has a secret power that can't describe with a science n logic,so..not every man can't "having" or "maintain" a keris..some of them must have a knowledge about keris before they have it,because every old keris have a soul...thanks you 😊❤🇮🇩🙏
And now you know how hard difficult Javanese Keris was made without CNC and it contains about more than 4 different metals in one blended metal just by hands.
I'm Indonesian... 🙏🏼🙂 Really hard and nice work ! A lot of effort, but beautiful result... Even though it's not "a real" Keris, different metode of build and other technical craftmanship, but still... it's a piece of art by your good job. well done... nice... ✨👌🏼✨👍🏼 honest thank you for making our iconic traditional weapon... take care... God bless you... ✨🙏🏼✨

Thank you for making this video 🙏❤️, although we doit differently here in java,. But again my deepest respect , love and gratitude, and again I say thank you....... 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I am indonesian javanese. Very impresive work using modern technics and workshop. Real ancient keris were made start from stone from meteorit iron. Imagine how long a keris can be finished. Maybe a year and more. That is why javanese keris is so precious.
I am Indonesian. Sepengetahuan saya keris bukan untuk ditebaskan tapi ditusukkan. Keris : ora kena kqnggo ngiris.
Back in the days, Keris is a must for every Javanese male. Now, mostly foreigner ordered Keris from Empu (Keris maker) as a souvenir. Hopefully, your video can make Indonesian youth aware and love Keris as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity (UNESCO-2005). Thank you for your effort to make Keris. I really apreciate it. Rahayu...🙏
There is another unique-shape-and-utility sword from Java, West Java to be exact. it's called Kujang, Sundanese's traditional short sword. Please make them too!
Wow.. what an awesome job you have there.. bravo.. 👏🏼👏🏼 It's just a suggestion; could you make it smaller? Javanese Kris is a concealed weapon (that's why we wear it on the back) and it also will show that the owner is dare to have a close fight as the Kris is meant for. Thanks for introducing the modern way of making Kris.
Keren......
Hello~ West Java! Thank you so much! The other guy also request to make Kujang haha Now I stop making contents but someday I will restart. At that time I will try it 😊🙏🙏🙏
I've always liked these swords! It's a very beautiful and you did a masterful job making it!!! Maybe on your next sword you will think about doing a ladder Damascus on the next sword you make. I think it'd look great on this type of sword to look like tiger strips with as much as tigers mean in the Asian culture Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Wow, very good result, I'm impressed 👍. But i don't know how javanese kris can stand on it's tip. This can be done by anybody without mystical power. It is told that javanese kris is engineered like that.
The keris is a cultural heritage of tribes in Indonesia, especially Java, Bali, Madura. I am an Infonesian, very impressed with you making works like the keris masters in Java. Extraordinary.
The manufacturing process and the final result are similar to Javanese kris. but in terms of size, Javanese kris generally have a length of no more than 30cm and some are even under 10cm. Because the real power of Javanese kris is not in the goods, but from the magical power that is filled by the master of the keris maker (EMPU)
Hope one day, you come to Indonesia, and take lesson how to make Keris with good way from our Empu (Keris maker). Because there are "pakem" (procedure) to make a Keris. Empu will teach you about dapur (shape), pamor (motive), etc. FYI, Keris made from mixed three materials, that are iron, nickel, and steel.
Thank you for watching and detailed explanation! I also hope too. It's a just replica. If I get a chance to learn the making method, it will be cool and great honor to me. 😚👍
Some also have uranium in it there's a story my grandfather told me, they used to hurt people without even touching them they only pointed the keris to the victim so the only explanation is theres radiation on the keris itself that can cause death which is the uranium well that's my theory for modern thought xD but what exactly it is still a mystery even for me a native Indonesian haha well I'm proud of Indonesia great country with culture and mystery xD
Thank you to make javanese keris. The iron and carbon can recorded the wishes from the owner. That why keris should more iron material and less steel. So it can recorded wishes well. and the arc is the symbol of wishes. The 13 arc is to ged rid bad luck.
My Great Grandfather (Mbah Buyut) used to make Keris as his daily job before he pass away. When I was a little boy I used to watch him making a Keris. I would say that your method is very different than his. Yours is way more modern. But, if Mbah Buyut still alive I bet he will enjoy watching your video. Thank you Sir!
can you make a KUJANG CIUNG knife from damascus metal, with a modified handle because the original looks easy to come off, I'm very curious to see the results.
keren banget, tanpa d campur nikel pun, pamor nya bs terlihat, jarang bgt orang asing yang bikin keris hampir mirip sm kris indonesia, biasa nya mereka mirip keris filipina
