Loved that first boxes frame that was almost wall to wall capped brood, awesome Queen! I also noticed a couple other frames you pulled from other hives looked almost wall to wall pollen (pollen bound). Honeybees only use fresh pollen so if they fill a frame full of pollen that gets old it can be removed by flushing it out with water from a garden hose and not do much damage to the comb. Good video !
@@Bowhunters6go8xz6x yeah I will sometimes pull those frames of solid pollen out and store them in the freezer for later use. Works perfect for making splits. They bees will work it as long as it's not moldy. Gives those new colonies a good boost of resources.
My bees have chewed the same types of areas in numerous boxes.., I think they do it for ventilation, & those colonies havnt bearded up this summer like the others
@@rainmaker3700 fortunately for me the black bears haven't quite moved into my area. There have been a few spotted in the next county over but not really here.
Yep, we like it when they look like that, Congrats.👍
Nice new comb!
Good to see new comb

@@illumi-Nate I wish they would quit lol. Most have a vent in the shim on top, I didn't even notice if that particular colony did or not
How do you keep the bears out of the hives??
