I do agree with the meta no longer having intros but I'm sure there are some people who do still have them. Mortismal gaming is there only one I can think off the top of my head. I'm sure more people would have them if it had some good chill music like morty's which is only 5 secs or if it's longer than it has to be good and catchy like the danny phantom intro. The eyecatchers before the episodes are like 10s long
Thebausffs still has an intro, as does Kings and Generals, and TED Talks, just to name three off the top of my head. Where they do occur these days they're usually delayed, often by even as long as a minute+, they're shorter than they used to be too. They act more like a title transitional piece between the intro clip that actually hooks the audience and the main body of the video. If they aren't delayed then they're usually very short (3-6 seconds). Something to note is that video length has both gone down significantly, and gone up significantly. Shorter videos tend to drop intros entirely, as they don't suit the format. Whereas the very long (1+ hour) videos also drop a generic channel intro, instead opting for something unique to that video in particular. The only video lengths that seem to retain them are those around 20-40 minutes long, however there are a few channels that still do them on 10-20 minute long videos. You don't see them at all really on anything below 10 minutes. They're also found more commonly on channels where the video format and genre is aimed more towards the kinds of videos that people purposefully click on to watch with intent or even search for, rather than something that might autoplay. In all honesty, this change in intros happened prior to Tiktok, it's just an optimisation that has occurred as the platform has become more competitive and the editing quality has generally gone up.
There are still musical intros in large channels (IWinToLose Gaming, for example, has one) But they tend to be MUCH quieter than the ones in earlier YT
I think it's still just as common as it used to be. It's just no longer executed in the same way. I think deviation from the meta began way back when intro templates started showing up on youtube for money. Nowadays, I think the art is better appreciated as most intros are usually custom made relating to it's video or commissioned high production stuff. Albeit, having a much more expensive price tag attached to it. UA-cam grew I guess. Fantastic video, keep up the grind! 🦾
Low key just all of youtube has just gone down in quality. Mabye if youtube wasn't so restictive on their platform then people would come back. Also the amount of ads you see on youtube you can skip any ad on tiktok that sort of ties into the attention span no one wants to wait almost a minute before they can watch the video. But its all about the money that is what controls youtube's decisions so it will continue to fall until somthing better comes out. Prolly not gonna happen because every company just want's money.
It's not that there are no intros, just that intro styles have changed significantly. Yes, seems pretty logical if you have data showing that a certain style is ineffective. As well, sorry that Jesus-guy keeps posting his cut-paste religious message. But I guess it helps the metric so may as well keep it around?
