When you're shooting at the tail of the helicopters like ya show in your video, you're shooting at the "tail rotor" till it breaks apart! Once it breaks apart, the helicopter looses tail rotor "authority" or torque, & the bird looses control, goes down, & crashes! Thanks for showing your video with us! It was awesome!

The problem with shooting the gunners is that there's never any gunners on helicopters in online. Especially buzzards. this method kicks ass.

Theres this thing called a "Tail rotor" it stop the main engine from spinning the helicopter around problom is its very weak to bullets and if you shoot it enough than it breaks then theres nothing stopping the heli from spinning out ur welcome
Fun fact: You can also shoot the rotors off of a cargobob and it will spin out of control as well. I discovered it when a police chopper rammed by rear rotor. I spun out of control and hit a telephone pole.This trick also works on prop planes.

I tried to shoot the tail and I got one down but it was so difficult. You have quite a good aim.
Who uses auto-aim? Takes half the challenge out of it.

Wow, can you read? I said "its like saying gta is garbage and your username has gta in it." I used it as an example so its obviously isn't in the comment section. "It's like" is a common way of comparing something to another thing so you epicly failed there big time. The reason why I said "fail" was because the post was about shooting/aiming and he argued that not everyone is good at shooting which is true, but his username has "shooting" in it. Understand now? You seriously need to read very carefully before you comment.

I have perfected shooting the helicopter pilot. Basically, I play with auto-aim on, which means I immediately target the gunner on the side. However, you can still manually move the controller (I use PS3) and crosshairs when you are using auto-aim. So. I basically aim for the helicopter, which puts me on the gunner. I THEN move my crosshairs about a half-inch or so on the screen to the right or to the left (depending on which side the pilot has the gunner facing). Once I have that mark moved, I'm basically targeting the pilot. Usually I have to shoot a few times, because it doesn't really target his head--it targets his body, which is in full body armor. But it doesn't take too many bullets to penetrate the armor and finally "kill" him. I can take down a helicopter in one go with Special Carbine gun with this method. Don't even have to bother with gunners, usually.
It also works to shoot the spot where the centre of the propeller meets the chopper, it's just as fast

Took me 100 and 5 rank to know about shooting the tail of the helicopter. Quite useful in Casino heist, but becareful cause the falling Heli may destroy the Heli on there.
I use a sniper for the Tail Rotor, normally takes 2 shots and the prop will explode. but I like this was as well.

You don't have to unlock the rocket launcher because you can use a cheat code to get weapons. The cheat code is triangle, r2, left, l1, x, right, triangle, down, square, l1(x3) on ps3. On Xbox it's y, rt, left, lb, a, right, y, down, lb(x3)
The best weapons for this are : THE Marksman pistol which is about 1-3 shots on the tail rotor OR The Heavy Sniper which is exactly 2 shots on the tail rotor

The easiest way is to shoot down the tail rotor and they will go "Mayday Mayday! We are going down i repeat we are going down!"
I found this method out on accident but I dident know you could shoot it with an LMG or an assault riffle,I thought you could only do it with the death machine

if u have a first person view up use the mini gun and aim just under the top propellers. if you do then the engine will fail almost instantly.

One time, A player was using the anhillator to kill me but i used the heavy sniper rifle and shot the propeller at the tail and the heli basically crash landed.
Every time I am sniping,if some one flys to me I snipe anywhere on the helicopter and shoot it once it will explode
i did this because i used 2 play cod 4 and there was an attack chopper kill streak and to take care of it people just used heavy machine guns against the tail and i was like o ye that makes sense
Another way. Use any character (use micheal perferably) use the heavy sniper. Only two bullets. Less time.

Could you use a standerd pistol to shoot it down? (like the propeller?)
i believe it wont be as quick. since Handguns bullets' penetration is weak when compared to another gun.
You can also use the minigun to shoot the tail.

I had trouble with this part so I skipped it. But how do I switch my view? I find that I couldn't get out of the 1st person view when trying to shoot down the helicopters.
The funniest thing is you can sometimes hear them say MAY MAY DAY MAY DAY AAAAAAAA or it would say WE GOING DOWN
i shot a helicopter over the prison with one shot from the heavy sniper it exploded from one shot i don't know if i hit the fuel tank? but i've never been able to do it again

U can also shoot the back blade with a heavy sniper
On the police maverick if you shot the back rooter with heavy sniper the rooter falls straight off

the helicopters go down when you sot them in the tail because they are keeping balanca with it and when you damage it,the helicopter cant keep the balance and it falls down
Use the heavy sniper to shoot the helicopter tail and with only 2 bullets he is down. Or the mini gun
