Spring Awakening & Hanging with Some Birds of Prey

  • While checking out the property trails and what kind of debris the winter storms have brought down on us - I get to watch some birds of prey being driven out of the area by a murder of crows. Their screeches were beautiful to witness and I don't want to speak too soon but they really sounded like eagles or hawks.
    Let me know if you can identify them for me in the comments below! I would love to be able to confirm. :)

    Hi Abby. I'm pretty sure that's a Red-tailed Hawk. Look up, "The 10 Types of Hawks That Live in Canada".

      Yep- I know their screech well. And this is my favorite app- Merlin Bird ID by Cornell Lab

      Amazing!! Thank you so much for helping to identify - I wasn't sure at all, I really need to learn how to differentiate between birds lol Checking out some hawk videos now. hehe :D

    Spring is very slow to arrive in your area, is that usual?

      Yes for the most part - usually we have a bit of a rainy/muddy season as the real 'spring' moves in and the snows melt. By the end of May we have warm weather and no risk of below freezing temperatures.
