Y'know, this video has got me to thinking that being a furry (as well as queer and neurodivergent) is a major factor in why I've found Susan Sontag's "Against Interpretation" so useful in framing how I feel about art. Analysis of "meaning" is all well and good up to a point, but ultimately, what art means is a matter of experience, of how it fundamentally makes you *feel* in the moment and in its aftermath. Sontag rails against hermeneutics, the idea that we must take art apart so as to derive deeper truths not evident on the surface, and instead advocates for the development of an erotics of art-not in the typical sense of that word (or rather, only inclusively of it), but a language of communicating aesthetic experience, pleasure and pain, beauty and ugliness, texture, negative space, what it means not to interpret art but to feel it. Furry is that. It is feeling beyond thinking, where even the most laboured symbolism becomes something intuitive.

Why is one of the first things we learn is that the cow goes moo? Why, basically, is everything coming up furry? I think it's because animals connect with us on a deep level. For me, to be furry is to be able to enjoy animal aspects and use them. Also, thank you. The one thing I hate more than being misjudged for being a kid is people that look at the worst aspects of something (as far as they know, care, and believe) and stereotype people to it. I guess to be furry is the new “gamer” of the late late 1900s and early 2000s. Or maybe a bookworm when books came out. You get the idea, a new thing that has its ideas rooted in culture being misjudged and deemed to be an immediate cause of every possible negative thing. Also please stop ruining furries with “you know what” art. It’s not funny it’s annoying. Coming from a non-furry. All of it is annoying. You know what I’m talking about, right?
I actually enjoyed this video alot. And hope it does well and that this is a part of a more positive direction for your channel. Not going to lie, I do feel the subject matter is a bit incongruent to your content and place in the algorithm, so I hope your audience is supportive. Cause honestly, I've been a bit critical of the content you put out while I have quietly lurked here. I have always found "Furry Drama and Bad Actor Callout" content to be a bit...well...I'll be blunt, it treats the fandom as a freak show for people to come mock us for their entertainment. It gets views big views, but parading around the worst of the fandom's members just for people to point at, laugh, and collectively shriek "Man, Furries! What is wrong with them?!" emboldened by the fact it's a Furry presenting. After all, if it wasn't okay to do, why are we doing it to ourselves? It's just always rubbed me the wrong way. So yeah, all that to say and make the point I really like this more introspective piece. It made me think about expression in the fandom in a different way. Good on you, seal. Bat thumbs up.
Im pretty sure Fantastic Mr Fox using Animal characters isn't just for making characters that are free. It subverts that thought by using animals along with their lives to show the problems they have. Even if they do what they want, the consequences will come around to show that it takes more effort than just doing to be free.

When you talked about the sond tracks, i could honestly feel different pluses run through my body, like in my legs, or near my shoulder blades. And i do see it as self expression, but more art like, and who you are. Those songs (techdog 3?) did show much, and when you said, tail or fur mostly focused on tail. ( For me atleast?)
Im not a gay person nor i hate them. I know that i used to be a furry and now i left that chunk of my life behind. Honestly, those squeeky sounds hurt my ears. I'd rather listen to "normal" techno, or soft violin, or (big) harp. Yeah, my musical interests are a bit weird. But, we all have different interests.
Right, that's such a good point. Furries, by definition, are such an integral part of children's movies/stories that EVERYONE grew up with- but nobody ever batted an eye at Fantastic Mr. Fox or Space Jam for having anthropomorphic animals. Once furries manifest into a unique culture and art style, only then is it suddenly "cringe" and "perverted". Those who have a distaste for furries genuinely have such a shortsighted view on it without even realizing they most likely grew up with furries.
My mom thinks furries are people who act like animals. I mean, I guess she's not WRONG but she's not talking about the people who make/wear anthropomorphic animal costumes.
12:58 Ima be dead honest 1st time Felt like the hairs (fur mabye?) Around my neck, arms and back stood up. As it progessed i started to feel very anxous-
You lost me at the "being furry is gay" stuff. It's not. It's traditional "queer" in the sense that it's abnormal, but you clarified that you meant it as an expression of sexuality, which is basically dismissing all the straight furries out there, or any furries who aren't specifically homosexual. As a bi scalie, I was put off by this.
Honestly, this video is looking for depth where they might be none. Escapism isn't anything specific to the furry fandom, I'd think it more sensible and accurate to just say "An interest" Some people are interested in cars, some are interested in drawing, some people really like Star Wars and all the attached lore, furries like anthro animals. Well, some do, I feel like the furry fandom has become a dumping ground for queer stuff, which we'll get to shortly. The music is just tones eliciting responses, it isn't specific to tails or fur, one has a sound similar to that of a barbers electric razor, makes your skin tingle, the other makes you want to get up and move. You can twerk without imagining you have a tail. The queer angle is very...awkward and not well thought out, it carries with it an immense amount of vagueness where you can basically point at anything you find interesting and call it queer. Somehow pride, furry, struggle, and queer are all synonymous, despite the fact you can be a complete straight furry who detests cutesy art, struggle all your life and despise any nation of queerness, have 0 pride in anything, etc etc. The biggest problem with the furry fandom is a massive lack of focus, so much so it's no longer a fandom. A fandom is a collection of people who are fans of something, originally, this was anthro animals, now you don't even need to enjoy anthro animals. You could like pretty colors, cute stuff, drugs, dancing, homosexuality, the list goes on, and there are people who will jump up and down and clap at you calling you the most furriest furry that ever existed. This is a shame to me, because I'm actually interested in anthro animals, I'm a dude that sucks dick and it still pains me to know the fandom, or "community" no longer seems interested in the subject matter.
sorry but i did not feel the furry, i just didn't feel fur or tail, nor can i experience emotions similar to yours, i just don't feel the constraints of life and feel like imputing emotion into things is more important than gaining emotion from things and so i cant appreciate the things you have said but i can understand what your message is, and i take that message as a very beautiful one Also when you said pride i instantly pictured the sin of pride from the seven deadly sins, Escanor, not cuz im gay but because he has this whole spiel about pride and stuff

The ending line of "what do you feel?" did not have to go that hard
10:35 Patricia Taxxon mentioned!
Im pretty sure Fantastic Mr Fox using Animal characters isn't just for making characters that are free. It subverts that thought by using animals along with their lives to show the problems they have. Even if they do what they want, the consequences will come around to show that it takes more effort than just doing to be free.
POV: you watch the house intruder break into your home and talk about furries
'Furry' just made me unmask my autism, and just love being a silly little bean :3
How does It feel having your life valued less then everybody else?
@@mrnobody9611 Well, depending on how your question is interpreted, I really don't care how much of a value I have. I am, for sure despite living with my own disabilities, I'm just trying my best to live like anyone in this world. It's something that not many people might be aware to be grateful on the things that they have in the present. I am, while writing the comment, grateful with things. I'm grateful with my family, my friends, how I live through tough times, and trying to be the best version of myself. It's something we need to look back on our things, our actions/consequences, and our timeline of our life. I don't know what you're going through, but I am sure that you're going something that you felt wrong about in your life. But don't worry, we will try our best and mature as much as we can. I hope you have a good day/afternoon/night sweetie. Take care of yourself.

Three words, animation meme music

"People believe in what they want to believe."
Try listening to some of snuffles music
Especially "Won't Go"
I only understand half of the video, probably need to rewatch it sometime lol. Now that I think about it, I really enjoy the sensory part of fandom. Like listening to music, ASMR, or hypnosis. They're all kind of intertwined. Sometimes I get the exact same feeling from all of them. I don't know, but these mediums allow us to express feelings/things that can't be described with just words
I used to love watching fantastic mr fox as a kid, I used to watch it every time I went to my grandparents, and now I think about it, it makes total sense I'd be a furry considering that was one of my favourite movies 😆

I wish Taxxon had a Spotify I absolutely love their work, both music and their videos
They have a bandcamp, where you can pay what you like for their music and you get to keep it forever. Sure, it doesn't mesh with whatever you're already listening to on Spotify but it'll be there when you want to hear it! And I don't have the numbers but I'll bet it supports Patricia more directly, especially on Bandcamp days.
as an autistic person who HATES my hair touching my neck, i don’t appreciate the constant mention of “fur on the back of my neck” how could u do this to me! /j
What a beautiful video, you talking about furry how it intersects with queerness literally made me cry
means alot to know the video had such an effect on you
This is business economics in a nursery rhyme
She sells seashells on a seashore
But the value of these shells will fall
Due to the laws of supply and demand
No one wants to buy shells 'cause there's loads on the sand
Step 1: you must create a sense of scarcity
Shells will sell much better if the people think they're rare, you see
Bare with me, take as many shells as you can find and hide 'em on an island stockpile 'em high
until they're rarer than a diamond
Step 2: you gotta make the people think that they want 'em
Really want 'em, really fuckin want 'em
Hit 'em like Bronson
Influencers, product placement, featured prime time entertainmen
If you haven't got a shell then you're just a fucking waste man
Three: it's monopoly, invest inside some property, start a corporation, make a logo, do it properly
"Shells must sell", that will be your new philosophy
Swallow all your morals they're a poor man's quality
Four: expand, expand, expand, clear forest, make land, fresh blood on hand
Five: why just shells? Why limit your self? She sells seashells, sell oil as well!
Six: guns, sell stocks, sell diamonds, sell rocks, sell water to a fish, sell the time to a clock
Seven: press on the gas, take your foot off the brakes, Run to be the president of the United States
Eight: big smile mate, big wave that's great Now the truth is overrated, tell lies out the gate
Nine: Polarize the people, controversy is the game
It don't matter if they hate you if they all say your name
Ten: the world is yours, step out on a stage to a round of applaus
You're a liar, a cheat, a devil, a whore
And you sell seashells on the seashore
That was different video that somehow managed to name thoughts and feelings that I thought could never be expressed through words. Great video, weird but absolutely great.
Honestly, i realized i might be a furry when i found myself thinking that adding cat ears to a character adds 50% more expression.
oh.
IM A FURRY 🤩!!
Yaaaay, meerkat represent :3
By the way the music didn't work on me.
Always a treat when you upload clappy. Keep calm and furry on :3
I hate the fact that I've become so dog brained that i understand what this means.
i love video essays and this was amazing :)
the genuine thought and passion to your videos is great
subbed 👍
And with 9:49 this video goes into the favorites.
The video is in a nutshell: "I like to look for hidden meanings."
Caravan Palace's music is also really good for this stuff
At least in my opinion
I love glitch hop and dance music
I feel like this video opened up a while nee world to me, as a gay myself, i felt like i could connect to this (P.S. love your avater/character)
Im not a gay person nor i hate them. I know that i used to be a furry and now i left that chunk of my life behind. I enjoy this type of content since it does entertain me out the rest of content creators i visit, see, and watch their videos. But you my friend, are a unique piece of art, and i like the type of art you have come to be. (Pls read this i used my last braincell for this)
The first sound track made me feel like I was getting my Tinitous back with a severe case of type 2 diabetes
10:05 For anyone wondering, that's 'Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F# A# ∞'
Idk about the music stuff, majority of it to me sounds like chiptune or something I'd hear in a game. Is that really what furry music is??

16:23 RIP R2D2
I know one song that makes me feel like my fursona, Proton, it's called Devil Dogs by Sabaton
If you haven't heard of him, Poppa Boì gives a good sound and visual combo that gives it a furry vibe ^^
What about the “All the single Furries” song ?
We don't talk about that-
try some music by Partica Taxxon, their works were built to sound like furry incarnate (And then you state it 4 seconds later)
I really like your furrsona on the screen 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻
where's those audio from the first few minutes clipped from? or where are the quotes from?
Honestly, those squeeky sounds hurt my ears. I'd rather listen to "normal" techno, or soft violin, or (big) harp. Yeah, my musical interests are a bit weird.
But, we all have different interests.
This is a hypnosis video in disguise
22 minutes? Cool

anti furries be like: "fUrRiEs ArE gRoSs" like look at me in the eye and tell me you NEVER had a crush on Lola bunny from Spacejam.
I aint a anti furry but I never had a crush on Lola bunny
Right, that's such a good point. Furries, by definition, are such an integral part of children's movies/stories that EVERYONE grew up with- but nobody ever batted an eye at Fantastic Mr. Fox or Space Jam for having anthropomorphic animals. Once furries manifest into a unique culture and art style, only then is it suddenly "cringe" and "perverted". Those who have a distaste for furries genuinely have such a shortsighted view on it without even realizing they most likely grew up with furries.
The does everyone talk about lola just ????????
Furries are based + I never had a crush on lola
thats just you bro
I feel like furry haters need to see this
3:10 the more i think about this the more real it sounds
My mom thinks furries are people who act like animals. I mean, I guess she's not WRONG but she's not talking about the people who make/wear anthropomorphic animal costumes.

Ima be dead honest
1st time
Felt like the hairs (fur mabye?) Around my neck, arms and back stood up. As it progessed i started to feel very anxous-
At the end. I calmed down
You lost me at the "being furry is gay" stuff.
This is a shame to me, because I'm actually interested in anthro animals, I'm a dude that sucks dick and it still pains me to know the fandom, or "community" no longer seems interested in the subject matter.
woag Clappy Seal good Vimdo :3 One Subcribe gain. +2
sorry but i did not feel the furry, i just didn't feel fur or tail, nor can i experience emotions similar to yours, i just don't feel the constraints of life and feel like imputing emotion into things is more important than gaining emotion from things and so i cant appreciate the things you have said but i can understand what your message is, and i take that message as a very beautiful one
Also when you said pride i instantly pictured the sin of pride from the seven deadly sins, Escanor, not cuz im gay but because he has this whole spiel about pride and stuff
also i feel pure happiness for my existence
HI clapped seal
Furry is one of those words whose meaning isn't determined
Doesn't furry just me you like being or drawing a Humanoid animals? I mean I'm pretty sure simple is that right I'm not a furry so I probably wouldn't know for sure. It's not really deep
anyone else at the start of the video hear "fu" "ni-"
Hey clappy I've got a good video idea for you. Look into anti furries and see why they hate furries and then disprove or prove their given points.
Dude, it’s not that deep. Weebs, comic nerds, Star Trek geeks et cetera all get shit and I’ve never heard them release 45-50 minute on how misunderstood and deep it all its. Someone makes a joke and they laugh. Simple!
@@scumitarop6707 ok but where is this relevant to my comment
just general haters, mostly kids not understanding what they are hating (who have just seen the said hate videos and now want to be the same), the hate mostly coming from misinformation about the fandom (which i can guess was started by Fox channel a while ago).
