    Hello Aaron, I have the exact same mill and it works great I bought an extra log dog set so I could cut short logs and also clamp a short board to make "Cookies" I also have a machine shop and have built two 5 foot tracks to add onto the ends of the 7 ft tracks one is used for a parking place for the saw head and the other parks my log turner log lift. also changed the engine out for an electric start 15 hp. I like the idea of lobbing off the end log upright and will also change the dogs from square to round pipe they are aggravating to say the least. also will be putting electric winch in place of the manual winch, mine has a tendency to drop and make end about 1/4 inch thicker if i don't keep eye on it. Winch is tight but there is a design flaw in the internal brake of the winch.

      That’s awesome John! I have the same issue with my winch and would like to put an electric one on also. Two brothers outdoors run the same mill also and did the electric winch upgrade. Good luck and mill on!

    Hudson makes a nice mill, I love mine! The reason dogs only point one direction is so they pull down into the rail bed when you are pushing forward with the mill on the log. If you push into the log and something goes south, a dog pointed back towards you will raise the log up over the dog’s pivot axis, pull up on the blade, and possibly lift your saw off the track. You’re better served moving the entire dog assembly forward. Good luck!

      I am very pleased with my mill. I took the stop off only one of the log dog so I can hold a 13’6 log. The tree service that drops logs to me that is the longest logs he can carry. I imagine if you rush your cuts and not pay attention anything could go wrong. Thanks for checking my vid out and commenting!

    Hi Aaron! If I ever get a mill, those mods seem to be very needed and make life easier. I enjoyed the vid! Take care! WST

    When I read modify the mill,my Spidey Sense alarmed and said Warning:Modification VOIDS warranty. I was glad it was the method not the metal that got modified.

      Ya I guess they really weren’t modifications but add ons

    Fyi , once u start sawmilling you'll start hoarding logs. Started with a manual one when I was 18. Now we have a lt40 hydraulic and kiln and sawmill over 100k BF a year. Gotta get a lt70 setup and edger and build another kiln. We've got roughly 10 semi loads worth to mill.

      Oh it’s already begun! I have piles to mill off all different species.

    I am considering purchasing a Hudson mill, and have heard some say they prefer a trailer mounted unit just to get the mill higher so it’s easier to access the boards. Is the ground track ok in your opinion or do you think a trailer setup would be better? Enjoyed your video!

    • @Aaronzap15
      @Aaronzap15  2 роки тому +1

      The trailer set up makes you mobile so you can mill on site where the tree was felled or someone’s property. If it’s set up like mine logs have to come to the mill. Glad you liked the video! More to come once my log yard dries out

      Trailers are the way to go. Well worth the money. If your milling for money. This size won't cut it though. If for a hobby or homested they're great.

      I pulled the trigger and bought the hfe30.
      I was shopping for a bigger mill but this one was in the warehouse and everything else had a 12-18 month wait to to supply train issues. I also wanted a trailor but they also had a wait list. I hope hud son is paying attention to all the videos that show modifications that owner have applied to streamline operation.
      The two brothers have some good information videos I have attempted to contact the Unemployed Redneck because he modified a trailor for his mill.
      He and I own much of the same equipment and I wanted to share an idea with him. He is very handy and I hoped if I plant a thought in his head he might invent something that would help us all.
      I had some major issues with the shippers but hud son was on the ball. Very professional knowledgeable folks that really tried to help me.
      Sadly I cannot find any bolts in my pallet to put the rails together.
      Will call them Monday to see if a box is missing from my load I am brand new at this so will prolly be asking lots of questions down the line. I really appreciate you guys sharing your experience with us I am subscribed and watching for more videos from you. Thanks Again. Aaron's Yard

    I think i sae leveling feet .Where did you buy those?

    • @Aaronzap15
      @Aaronzap15  4 місяці тому +2

      They are levelers for the rail. They are bolted to 12” steel beams. I made them from 3/4 threaded Rod. I used a friends mag drill to make the holes perfectly in line

  • @colindavies9493
    @colindavies9493 2 роки тому +1

    How was it mounted prior to getting the I beams?

    • @Aaronzap15
      @Aaronzap15  2 роки тому +1

      I bought the sawmill new so it was never mounted any other way. A good strong level base makes your product off the mill better!

      @@Aaronzap15 agreed. It’ll be a while before it’s in its permanent place so I’m looking at a variety of ideas until then. I may bolt on a few short trailer jacks for leveling until then

    Aaron, I just posted a new vid of a problem that's probably going to rear it's ugly head on yours. Also email me I can give you some dimensions on the round stock to save you from doing it 3 different times like I did 🙄 my track has several pre drilled holes for the dog assembly. I moved the dogs closer together than the factory setting.

      I’m going to watch it tonight after I put my kids to bed. I would definitely like to know the size so I can fix my log dogs. What’s your email again
