Markets look like 2015-16. Probably going back to all time highs, but will probably go sideways until fed signals rate cut, Recently sold 25% of my $285k portfolio comprising of plummeting stocks that were recommended by certain financial UA-camrs, quite devastating!
not their fault, the stock market seems to be more of a casino for gamblers now than a place for investors. even if you were averaging down on ailing companies, its your duty to properly research, buying the dip does not guarantee a rebound
The issue is most people have the “I will do it myself mentality” but not skilled enough. Ideally, advisors are perfect reps for investing jobs and at first-hand experience, my portfolio has yielded over 350%, since covid-outbreak to date, summing up nearly $1m.

Same thing I keep saying. Choose quality stocks and follow them up keenly. If you're not one for such complexities, then work with an Adviser to grow your portf0lio. You can't go wrong with a seasoned CFA. Things will become bullish in no time and the diligent inveestors will smile to the bank. Don't forget the last quarter of the year is upon us.
You're right, I and a few colleagues in NY work with a CFA who prefers we DCA across a number of prospective sectors instead of a lump sum purchase. Following this, my account grew by more than 40% in this 4th quarter.
As a passive investor, is it wise to buy market tracking index funds and ETFs from companies like Blackrock, Vanguard and State Street, even when they're at all time highs? I want to invest around 250K given the current market rally. Thoughts?
The key to big returns is not big moving stocks. It's managing risk in relationship to reward. Having the correct size on and turning your edge as many times as necessary to reach your goal. That holds true from long term investing to day trading.
Even with the right technique and assets some investors would still make more than others, as an investor, you should’ve known that by now, nothing beats experience and that’s final, personally I had to reach out to a market analyst for guidance which is how I was able to grow my account close to a million, withdraw my profit right before the correction and now I’m buying again

Henry, would you ever roll a call option which you bought? If the Kaul option is in money and you think it is still gonna go higher, but you’re running out of time.? And what about the opposite situation when the call option is losing and you are running out of time?
Iron Condors are quite difficult to manage, rolling the entire trade may not worth it. I usually roll the untested side and make it a butterfly to minimize losses. For instance, XYZ is $100 and you setup iron condor 85/90 puts, and 110/115 calls. If XYZ runs to 120 and stays there, I would roll both puts up to 105/110 for some credit. Now you'd have puts 105/110 and calls 110/115. You are still losing but at least you minimized the loss. You can try broken wing butterfly, like roll puts to 100/115, but you are risking too much in case XYZ suddenly drops.
Henry, you have a good student here, I have rolled TSLA 250 puts about 3 times and finally paid off now, same thing for NVDA several times to protect my capital and collect extra premium
Hi, I sell calls and puts for income since 2020. What if I want to roll but I’ll take that loss and the new position I open is on another ticker? This will help on taxes instead of creating a wash.
Couple of comments and questions. I mostly do credit put spreads. When I get into trouble, I roll down, out and spread. This has earned me credits, lowered strike price and bought me more time. So far it has worked. Thoughts? Also, if u are at max loss ITM on credit put spread….is there any logic/ benefit to rolling deeper in the money to keep collecting credits as your max loss would not change? I am working on simulations on this, but don’t have a conclusive answer.
Thank you Henry! May I ask how to save a credit spread option trade when the stock is in the money? I have a Tesla credit spread that expired on 11/22, but both the Short and long legs are in the money now… so if I close now, I will lose all the money for the trade which is about $2,500. Do you have any advice or idea what I could do to save the trade? Thank you so much. I would really appreciate your advice.
Is it a good strategy to sell options a little in the money to get the higher sell price and then implement the roll strategy when it becomes out of the money. Is my thinking flawed, better to sell options out of the price and how far out of the price?
Thanks Henry! Last month with SMH rolling my call spreads reversed a position that was $3k against me... Last week same with MSTR...I rolled it and waited for the retrace back OTM and got out at a profit...meanwhile when you roll you collect bigger premiums too... don't get me wrong of course you have to closely manage it and sometimes you still may lose. But people who just buy and hold either stocks or options are missing out on this hugely important strategy. One more point, selling on Friday seems better too because the theta burn seems higher into Mon & Tuesday......Cheers
Thanks Henry! Great stuff as always. Would you consider making a video for people with smaller accounts like $10K? How can we run the wheel strategy without putting a huge chunk of our portfolio into one trade? Should we run credit spreads until the account is bigger? Thank you as always =)
Thanks for this video Henry! I don't have access to Robinhood in Canada so I didn't know Robinhood had 1 button to roll. But you confirmed my question that I need to buy back a covered call and then sell it again. Which is the same as rolling. Thanks again!
question. after we close the current position and decide to roll the position at a different strike, do we still get to keep the original premium we collected?
Yes, you keep the original premium. But remember sometimes u don’t always get a credit on the new expiration date sometimes you have to pay to roll it. Depends on how far u roll and the price u pick.
Unfortunately, not all of us were financially literate early, I was 35 when I finally educated myself and started taking steps. I went from $176,000 in debt with zero savings or retirement to now, 2 years later, fully debt-free and over $1000,000 net worth. I know that doesn't SOUND like a lot, but l'm incredibly proud of it. Now I'm fast-tracking my wealth building (investing $400,000 annually) and don't owe a dime to anyone. It's a good feeling! Thanks Charlotte Miller.
She is my family's personal broker and also a personal broker in many families I'm United States, she's a licensed broker and a FINRA AGENT in United states
I'm surprised that you just mentioned and recommended Charlotte Miller, I met her at a conference in 2018 and we have been working together ever since.
The trouble with rolling is that it ties up your collateral and you can't collect premiums during the extended time. How do you decide when a roll is worth it versus the opportunity cost of the next cash secured put?
You might consider letting the 12/20 expiration play out a bit. You can always roll it later. I'd roll the 11/15 and 11/22 now if you can. In the meantime, TSLA may self correct to the middle of the Bollinger bands by mid December since it is extremely overbought right now. I had options on TSLA that I sold when it was 240 for 270 (expired this last Friday, 11/8)... so I made about $20,000 and lost out on about $60,000 of potential gains. (ouch) But I'm considering selling cash secured puts at around $260 for about a month out since I think it will correct down... and if it doesn't I'll just pocket the premium. And, if I get assigned then I'll happily buy into TSLA again. Elon is going to be selling to divest himself if he gets a cabinet position which is going to make TSLA dip quite a bit in the short term. So watch for that if that happens. Long term, TSLA is golden. Such great potential. But short term is going to still be a volatile ride.
You mean sold calls with the cover calls strategy? In that case try to keep rolling your contracts in the beginning of the week, to collect premium. But mostly likely you will lose your shares unless Tesla gets back down the gap between your strike and Tesla stock it’s big
What I do in these rolls when I dont want to lose my shares is roll it to the next week at the same strike while simultaneously buying some new shares to cover it at the same time. Your breakeven on the rolled calls will be higher than the ones you just bought thus guaranteeing you will not lose on the trade. Even if the stock tanks after you bought those new shares, they will still be sold ( called away) at that higher rolled breakeven. Had to do this several times with Nvidia.
This strategy would need more explanation because there are immediate questions. How many new shares are you buying to cover? If it's a large amount of shares relative to what's going to be called away, how much of your account is cash sitting around waiting for these situations? Or do you have a large cash amount that flows into your account on a weekly/monthly basis that you let sit for one of these situations and if the situation doesn't happen, then just invest normally? Is the return on this strategy truly better than if that cash was invested in the first place?
I love selling covered calls, but in a bull market if everything's going up and something explodes like Nvidia or recently pltr it becomes hard to roll out your covered call and raise the strike price high enough to keep up plus you're will get more money potentially if they get taken away but you're tying up your money sometimes for three four extra months and if the stock price drops then the shares will not get called away but you did have the right to sell them at the higher price cuz you had them tied up in too many covered calls and I have done that so I know sometimes that doesn't work
While rolling options can work, people need to understand that the initial premium you collected will be lost when you close out the option. Bottom line is you need to be okay selling a position if certain situations.
I hav😂e question, i sell put enph 70 last week, rollthis week and today roll next week 70 too, i always het premium (&&), mean i take more money, but why i see p/l ytd is negative, thanks
I'm new to trading, and I've lost a good sum trying out strategies I found in online tutorials. I would sincerely appreciate any recommendations you have.

I know Bridget Lee Wade. as a popular crypto experts' people talk about, her transparency in the crypto community speaks for her, I attended her seminar in Brisbane last year.
You didn't cover what to do when you are assigned a put and its a good distance below your original sell strike. What calls do you sell to make some credit without locking in a loss on the stock when the stock finally turns around?
To say 'rolling options to avoid losing money' is a misleading statement. When you roll, you essentially close out the current position (which will lose money) and open up a new position. On an uptrend market, it is not wise to sell covered calls as the price can run away till the cow come home. e.g. TSLA, NVDA, PLTR. Not wise to sell covered calls for these stocks IMHO.
Genuine questions. New to options. If one rolls, and give up some of the prior premium, is that what you mean by losing money? Could one also see the roll as avoiding needing to give up 100 shares and at least getting some premium?
@@msdinba Yes if the price stop climbing or reverse course. For stocks that are continuously rising, like TSLA now, you lose money on the way up while selling covered calls.
@@mrmaschinaadventures While it's true that you keep your position alive while the stock price continue climbing, but it'll cost loads of money when you roll it, which is essentially buying back the original call at a very high price, then sell another call that is further out, and maybe at a different price. Ultimately, if the price of the stocks continue to climb at your next expiry date, you continue to lose more on that call.
My friend, yes you are closing the call at a very high price but also selling the new call at a higher price at the same strike...it's a wash, in fact if it's a credit it's an addnl gain even at a higher strike...I've done it several times...you are clenching more credit which buys you more time....of course if it doesn't reverse then you lose ...Cheers
Many stocks have run away from me lately, making rolling impossible without paying a major debit. Still, I pay those debits depending on the case. PLTR, APP, POWL, AGX, TSLA, MSTR, and COIN all have run way beyond strike prices. This is the downside of covered calls. When you have a runner, the CC was not a good bet.
I don’t know what you mean by losing money with a runaway covered call if you mean, you could’ve had more gains If you never sold the call on your stock then I guess that’s true but are you saying you somehow lost money on a covered call cause I don’t think that’s possible. The price goes up. That is a risk profile of a covered call. You are capping your potential gains so there’s no way around that. You have to live with it and not be killing yourself. You could’ve made some more money that’s part of the game if you knew the stock was gonna shoot, you would’ve done a bull spread or something Else.
My TSLA cc is ITM so I need to roll this up and out. I've checked and if I roll this to 2026, I get a much higher strike and a credit. So this looks like a good way to "defer" the loss (if it expires ITM) to a later date.
@ you can roll out 12 to 24 months for even or maybe small debit or even a credit. But then you turning the stock down into dead money. I am doing this some what for stocks I am certain will be going up. For example on Tsla my cc is at $230 for March and now the stock is over $300. I can roll out into early 2026 at $300 strike. I consider getting the $70 gain a good return. I will lose out if Tsla still runs and of course if Tsla declines then more options may become available. Good luck.
Spent my whole life in the airline business. I don't trade them anymore. Too much can go wrong very quickly. We wake up tomorrow with another covid panic AAL (and other airlines) will be down 50 percent.
What about rolling one that’s out of the money like a lot of people are it doesn’t help if you’re in the money you gotta remember. Most of your listeners are small investors
I have been selling calls on my PLTR leap for a year now but my problem now is my June 2025 leap has a $4400 profit but the last call I sold is a $33 strike and when I roll now out and up I can’t get a profit at 35 strike and don’t want to lose my big profit on my leap
Sometimes with those trades it might just be time to close the whole thing and take the profit, or if you think the leap will keep running just bite it and close the short call with its big debit, its not fun when you cap your upside profits with certain strategies and then something blasts off, but its the game being played so you have to decide. Most likely its better to decide and take action before possibly getting assigned on the short call then having to decide under pressure.
If your roll requires you to buy to close at a higher price than you originally sold the option for, then yes, you now have a realized loss on the books, even though you collected a credit for the roll.
@@macman231how does this make sense im new at this and when i rolled i realized 6k in losses. this is my scenario i had 24$ strike price on intel call, it went in the money i rolled to february with a credit of 2,000 and then it shows 6k loss on my realized gain section , why would i keep rollin if in going to loose money doin that can you explain?
Possibly because selling puts every week or every month will bring in a ton more premium than just selling one a year out, go look at the premiums and do the math.
Why would you keep using that platform if they won't even allow you to roll a short call out and up, that is crazy especially with the size of your account.....no way would I be on there.
👉 EXPLAIN ROLLING CREDIT SPREADS. It's basically the same thing but having a vid that I can send ppl to instead of me having to keep explaining it would help greatly.
Yeah you better do a video on rolling options cause I know your ass is getting smoked and you’re losing out on soooooooooo much upside Mr. Covered Calls

Thanks for this video Henry! I don't have access to Robinhood in Canada so I didn't know Robinhood had 1 button to roll. But you confirmed my question that I need to buy back a covered call and then sell it again. Which is the same as rolling. Thanks again!
How about wash sale situation?could it be hit for a losing bet? For example, sold $nvdl $85 Dec 6 call a week ago, but it soared.
Uncle Henry, can you show how to roll a deep in the money credit spread? Thank you sir
This year will only tear up elizzarda invest, the rest of the projects and no hope)
How do I watch you trading live? Do you stream on UA-cam or twitch or something?
In my private Discord community. Check link in my description
How far out you usually sell covered calls?
Can you roll positions on a Put Credit Spread?
question. after we close the current position and decide to roll the position at a different strike, do we still get to keep the original premium we collected?
Yes, you keep the original premium. But remember sometimes u don’t always get a credit on the new expiration date sometimes you have to pay to roll it. Depends on how far u roll and the price u pick.
@@MemeTimeBetch great thank you
How do I get your discount?
The very first time we tried, we invested $1000 and after a week, we received $5500. That really helped us a lot to pay up our bills.
I'm surprised that you just mentioned and recommended Charlotte Miller, I met her at a conference in 2018 and we have been working together ever since.
I'm new at this, please how can I reach her?
she's mostly on TikToks, using the user name
Thoughts on rolling out the same strike just more time?
The trouble with rolling is that it ties up your collateral and you can't collect premiums during the extended time. How do you decide when a roll is worth it versus the opportunity cost of the next cash secured put?
Have a few 250-265 Sold calls on TSLA with this recent blow up to 322 whats the best play for rolling them? Expiring 11/15, 11/22, and some 12/20
Following!
Mine have been rolled to 2026 already. Strike price from 280 to 400

If you roll a call option up and out, won't the overall trade still be losing if the stock price stays above the new selected strike price?
What I do in these rolls when I dont want to lose my shares is roll it to the next week at the same strike while simultaneously buying some new shares to cover it at the same time. Your breakeven on the rolled calls will be higher than the ones you just bought thus guaranteeing you will not lose on the trade. Even if the stock tanks after you bought those new shares, they will still be sold ( called away) at that higher rolled breakeven.
Had to do this several times with Nvidia.
Do you profit with this Strat or just ensure you don’t lose shares? What the overall profit or loss?
This strategy would need more explanation because there are immediate questions. How many new shares are you buying to cover? If it's a large amount of shares relative to what's going to be called away, how much of your account is cash sitting around waiting for these situations? Or do you have a large cash amount that flows into your account on a weekly/monthly basis that you let sit for one of these situations and if the situation doesn't happen, then just invest normally? Is the return on this strategy truly better than if that cash was invested in the first place?
I love selling covered calls, but in a bull market if everything's going up and something explodes like Nvidia or recently pltr it becomes hard to roll out your covered call and raise the strike price high enough to keep up plus you're will get more money potentially if they get taken away but you're tying up your money sometimes for three four extra months and if the stock price drops then the shares will not get called away but you did have the right to sell them at the higher price cuz you had them tied up in too many covered calls and I have done that so I know sometimes that doesn't work
Can you or do you have a video on the tax side of options?
While rolling options can work, people need to understand that the initial premium you collected will be lost when you close out the option. Bottom line is you need to be okay selling a position if certain situations.
How do you roll a deep in the money call options for Tesla. I did a covered call for Tesla at 285 with a 11/29 exp date

Been watching your videos for a while, I love your way of explaining relative option strategies based off of what the markets doing. 👍
How many times can we roll over options like that?
Deep in the money c.calls at or below your cost basis, expirating far out can be difficult to roll.
not for cash accounts :( right?
Great video bro! You’ve helped me out so much on my options journey. Thank you for your videos
Can't find the link to the Discord server?

What if you're losing money on the option m
Fantastic video! Thanks for sharing
excellent.. thank you and absolutely the best life has to offer to you and yours.
It’s like you read my mind. I can’t wait to see this video.
No it's not a misleading statement because by rolling, you are collecting additional premium keeping the position alive....
Guys should i invest in tesla😊
Thank you

I look forward to your videos every day man, good stuff
Many stocks have run away from me lately, making rolling impossible without paying a major debit. Still, I pay those debits depending on the case. PLTR, APP, POWL, AGX, TSLA, MSTR, and COIN all have run way beyond strike prices. This is the downside of covered calls. When you have a runner, the CC was not a good bet.
Ugh, same. @henry any tips or tricks for when this happens?
roll out. my tsla cc has already been rolled to 2026
I don’t know what you mean by losing money with a runaway covered call if you mean, you could’ve had more gains If you never sold the call on your stock then I guess that’s true but are you saying you somehow lost money on a covered call cause I don’t think that’s possible.
Good luck.
still not sure how its basically free money at 9:00
Spent my whole life in the airline business. I don't trade them anymore. Too much can go wrong very quickly. We wake up tomorrow with another covid panic AAL (and other airlines) will be down 50 percent.
Of all the different types of Options, which one do you most frequently trade?
Thanks for the input
even tho you collect a credit do you actually still realized a loss???
If your roll requires you to buy to close at a higher price than you originally sold the option for, then yes, you now have a realized loss on the books, even though you collected a credit for the roll.
@@macman231how does this make sense im new at this and when i rolled i realized 6k in losses. this is my scenario i had 24$ strike price on intel call, it went in the money i rolled to february with a credit of 2,000 and then it shows 6k loss on my realized gain section , why would i keep rollin if in going to loose money doin that can you explain?
If I want to get assigned anyway why wouldn't I sell a put a year in advance to get the most premium possible?
Possibly because selling puts every week or every month will bring in a ton more premium than just selling one a year out, go look at the premiums and do the math.
Well early assignment kills rolling
Roll it whoa
Why would you keep using that platform if they won't even allow you to roll a short call out and up, that is crazy especially with the size of your account.....no way would I be on there.
I have two 245 calls sold on Tesla expiring on Nov. 29, how cooked am I chat ?
i wish i saw this video before letting 900 shares of HOOD get called away.
