1:00 in and thats the white leaver i was talking about. It may be pushing up against the capstan.

I had that happen to me before. If i remember right the white plastic leaver that operates the pause is out of place and its rubbing on the underside of that round capstan. You'll have to remove that to easily get to that piece.
