Simone Biles is the most decorated American gymnast of all time and has been the most dominant athlete in the sport since 2013.
She has a combined total of 30 Olympic and World Championship medals and is expected to add a handful more at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
But sometimes we forget she's only human and even the greatest gymnast of all time struggles with performing certain skills from time to time.
In this video, we'll take a look at skills Simone Biles eventually stopped performing.

Simone was like “well, this skill doesn’t work for me, so I’ll just do one that’s a lot harder” 😂😂❤️❤️
Yeah right?
True!
I think adding the extra skill definitely helped her control the energy she’s generating. That stretched position was pushing her further into the corner. That height she garners with the tucked position really benefits her here because she can lose some of that energy projecting her toward the corner in the air before she spots the floor and prepares to land. It’s truly genius coaching & a badass strategy on her part. It’s even more incredible when you see the two skills compared back to back!
Simone and her coaches perfected the balance between difficulty and adaption to her body.
Especially with other gymnasts. Jordan chiles almost quit, but she moved to simones gym and now she’s a top competitor for the Olympics.
Her coaches are worth top dollar. Having a good team matters. Sometimes I wonder if Gabby would have surpassed Aly in 2016 if she trained with Chow.
Gabby very likely would have. Chow would have gotten her the Amanar ready, and he was an excellent beam coach as well who would have improved her confidence there. She was very close to Aly at the Olympics
In my opinion, no, but we’ll never know. Regardless, Aly deserved her spot. She worked for it and earned it.
The barani is kinda iconic

The moors, only to see her doing "I" & "J" elements in the same routine
She could reach a 7.0 start value. Insane.
She definitely had too much power on the moors. She could definitely do the triple double layout!
@@gymnasticsmasterclass she could reach a 7.0 just by replacing her full in with a double layout (which she definitely can do) !!
I’d rather see her debut another new element or combo. Maybe the triple pike she showed in a training video or the double layout + double salto combination. But those were just training videos so I know it’s not realistic to think those could be done consistently in competition. Still I hope she sticks around for another year or two after Tokyo because as long as she keeps getting better I’d love to see her debut a few more skills.
@@samuel5916 for the double layout+ double back she would get 0.2 CV, I think it's not worthy enough for anyone to compet it
I love the Barani. If someone connected the Barani to an immediate leap or jump or twist or turn, it would become my favorite combo.
There is no question that Simone CAN do these skills. Points are the name of the game and I agree with the strategy to go solid to avoid deductions.
Imagine if her last tumbling pass was the moors instead of the silivas
That's like out if this world difficult but also its Simone so
I rather have Simone happy with her routine, it’s her decision.
don't forgive the 2 1/2 twists+ front layout on floor, that she changed for the double layout in 2014 (another skill she stopped perfoming alongside the Chusovitina), and the half on half twist on vault, that she changed for the cheng to clinch the olympic and worlds vault titles, another skills are the ray and the full in dismount on bars, that she changed for upgrades in her bars routine
I’ll be doing a video specifically for combos soon.
Regarding the Lopez and Full-In, I tried to stay away from skills she stopped performing simply because she upgraded them, I didn’t think that would be so interesting. Thank you for your feedback ☺️
@@gymnasticsmasterclass you and Jesus palomo should work together to make the next video
I wish she brought back the layout to two feet because it is more unique and in my opinion more beautiful than the layout step out
I agree and I never knew she was competing this. It's hard to believe she struggled with such element, maybe if she trained it more, it'd be really consistent now. What makes me think of Shawn Johnson and her flawless BHS+BHS+Layout combo.
@@demonsalwayswin I knew but I thought it was a pike
It was never laid out enough to count. It would be credited as a pike
@@WAGgymSuperFan Strange to see her struggle to get amplitude on some beam skills, but she can launch a double-double dismount. 🤷
@@GreySox Seriously I think it's because she attempted two feet layout in the past, many years ago, then she gave up on training it. If you stop training some (even easy skill for her), you'll never learn it properly. I don't believe she'd struggle with such element. Her BHSO+LOSO+LOSO combo is beautiful, but it's a bit overused. I love BHS+LO+LO combination tho and her would be awesome if she trained it properly.
Love your videos
I wonder if she will bring back the first Biles vault for Tokyo. I would love to see her do it again 🤞
Would love to see her win gold with her 2 eponymous vaults. That would be epic.
Yes it would!
@@gymnasticsmasterclass I think her coach said she's saving both for the Olympics.
@@leykimayri I just rewatched the video. During day 1 at trials while Simone is doing vault, Nastia mentions that she spoke to Simone's coach who told her they are saving both for the Olympics. She mentions saving the Biles during the first vault and the new one during the second vault. Unless something has changed since the trials, because they half mention it during vaults on the second night of trials as well.
@@leykimayri I'm just reporting what Nastia reported she was told directly by Simone's coach last week.
Whatever works for her is what's important.
She adjust those move that make her best and take her to the next level~ that's the true gymnastics spirit~
she has the best form on the Moors literally no one can do it like her
I like that she uses a different technique and makes it look cleaner. Her and Jade perform it the best imo
Could you imagine her floor routine if she replaced the full twisting double with the moors and connected the double double to the full step out! That routine would be so insane!
the moors is very cool and because she struggles with the landing, adding a stag jump might help with connection value and the landing deductions
She probably has the best moors with Carey, but she has so much power and she can’t control the landings!! I wish she could bring back the moors because after the Biles II it would be very great!! (also the barani but if she is inconsistent on it is better not to perform it)
she reminda me of Dos Santos a lot. Brilliant tumbler but sometimes too much power
Nobody wants to see her fall! So I am glad she took these out if they were giving her trouble.
I can't tell if this is a real person or tts, but it's really good!
It’s text-to-speech.
I have never seen her with her hair down. She looks pretty with it down.
Simone knows what's best. It really isn't anyone else's business...
I always said the balance beam was her weakness but what i like about simone is she really do analize what she will do n not do n what is comfortable for her and so forth I wish her nothing but the best that girl is Guuud
It’s amazing what a gymnast can do when they don’t ban their skills.
Does anyone have any idea why an element (i.e. The Barani) that she used to perform so consistently became such a hit or miss?
she grew taller... that could be a reason
@@rasanyaisabella9847 Plus she was on hiatus for a while. That effects a gymnasts a lot too and they usually have a hard time gaining their skills back
I wish she would bring back biles 1 + layout and biles one on vault
I hope she continues to do gymnastics and doesn't quit! She is so awesome at everything!!
For every champion there is a challenger know you are the best of all champions
Add the Moors as her 2nd pass.
I wished she never brought back any of them
Same
I'm ready for the wolf turn to go away.
Let Simone Kick butt and just leave her skills the way they are....I can't even walk across the beam let alone do her skills...Go Simone...USA!!!
It is not mentioned in this list, but I would like her to change the Biles 1 on the floor for her Chusovitina + jump ... I think she controls her landing much better and it would raise her D Score to 7.0 ... but i know she wont let go her first move name after her .. it most mean a lot to her
She doesn’t do her biles vault anymore either
yeah she does she’s just saving it for tokyo
i’d love to see a floor routine with a triple double , moors , double layout half & a front full to double double tho it’s not gonna heron
happen*^
Biles is Phenomenal! But I will say at times you are able to do a skill, but the execution isn't always great. She most likely has practiced those skills many times over, but I respect her decision to exclude those skills if the consistency is average.
She is still the best right now she is awesome
I meen it seems she's doing fine without them
No need to put out negative videos before olympics
I don't think it's negative video. I think it's about finding routine which is consistent and has high enough (not the highest!) difficulty.
Omg, 2013 simone lol, she still looked grown.
And why are you showing this on Simone Biles❣️
I wished she didnt get rid of the barani
So much power on her moors 🥰
Simone Biles is her 30 Medalists GOAT 🐐 stopped performance!
I feel like the Moors was a skill tailor made for her power. I think the problem lie in the factor that she was slow to get into the twist and was never truly ready for the landing. Thusly, she would land whilst finishing the second twist still positioned in the tight layout position and her foot were so squeezed together that combined with her extraordinary power she would pop backwards still out of control from landing in the layout.
She could add an extra half twist.
Only if the floors expand
Nope, she is a queen, she can do whatever she wants, I am below her I don’t to make her feel bad or pathetic over my opinion, it happens to too many athletes, example Katlyn Ohashi.
I think we should we talking about what she can do how great she is. The Olympic are just weeks away.
Thank goodness she stopped her from pike
I didn’t even know she stopped
Alot of these comments are bias and have troubling intent Both Nadia&Simone are legends in their own time. They both admire&redpect each other very much. Nadia even praised Simone herself. You guys are saying things like She takes drugs shes not graceful come on guys stop it.Nadia was the 1st gymnast to score a perfect 10 and has many flawless victories. Simone has 6 world all around titles and 30 medals 23 of rhem are gold her accomplishments soeak for themselves.
Please stop the wolf turns... They're so ugly looking.. A graceful skill it is not and Simone does it pretty darn good. I think most of us would be OK never seeing another wolf turn.
Gymnasts doing wolf turns should look at some videos of figure skaters doing sit spins to see how the arms and hands should be placed. What makes wolf turns look bad is the arms flailing all over the place. If they neatly put both hands on the weight bearing knee, it would look better. P.S. I am a figure skater.
Please stop wolf turn hate comments. We all hate the skill. We get it. Pls stfu now.
@@peanutoreo8052 doing wolf turns in gymnastics and doing a sit spin while figure skating are two differnt things. If they did it like figure skaters they would more than likely fall more than they already do
@@kneal9203 I have tried it on the beam. I did a double turn and it worked for me. You do however have to give it a good pull at the beginning of the turn. It will center the turn if you arms aren’t going all over the place.
hi
NO ! she should not bring any skill back that would not make her routine clean!
NO.
If she has too much power to control the moors as the first pass , why not try it as her last pass ? I’m sure she can do it . Or is this asking for too much ? Hahaha
NO
huh?
@@kneal9203 Watch the video again. I answered his question.

Weakest skill: Mental
Hopefully she is done performing forever. I am so tired of that wah wah I give up coward.
She knew her limits, and it was probably a heartwrenching decision.
I have mental health issues and sometimes I can't do something I said I'd do. It always makes me feel like it was my fault somehow and I feel awful about quitting, so I imagine that Biles probably felt similar when she pulled out.
