Carrie Akre and Friends performed some of her amazing songs Saturday 12/8/18 at the Tractor Tavern in Seattle. Danny Newcomb and the Sugarmakers opened.
I remember once, oh so long ago, Carrie mentioning being inspired by women like Pat Benatar (one of my favorites growing up)- and yet, while there’s Definitely a reason I have a ‘day job’- to this day Carrie inspires me. I have Hammerbox’s When 3 is 2 on my elder iPod in my car and whenever it comes on- have to turn it up loud (so I can’t hear me as I try to keep up) and often hit replay. So amazing, and such a cool person.
What's fucking sad is a room of people in which it looks like 10 people know Hammerbox and the rest are just hanging out. Carrie and co deserve better.
