Hi friend, your channel is rocking by the way, So yeah the motors got 540 mabuchi on there as ya can see but from the 10 or so I've used throughout years they all had issues. My understanding from others on sites have issues with to- from dented cans, rusting out, to unbalance arms . I recall that i cut my hand on one a couple years ago from the burrs on the can, i honestly feel it was a rushed request from kyosho to Mabuchi to get these ready for models release date. hey even decals are never quite right- this one is a bit wonky as ya can see lol. I gotta do a speed test video with this and a standard silver mabuchi rs 540 in future with my farm truck and see which is better.
Great question I’m guessing you have a Traxxas stampede or rustler or a Hawk perhaps? So 540 motor is no means brushless fast but it’s still entertaining enough in my opinion. You definitely could upgrade to brushless easily . Also the motor could just be worn out. I’d buy a new rc motor Traxxas Stinger as I did in my latest Nikko scorpion rc video. Thanks and enjoy
yeah that motor is in need of some new magnets for sure, though the condition of it seems great, does this share the gears with the vintage kyosho ultima re-release they are coming out with ? Also some of the steering issues is from the servo mounting itself, the posts flex, might be able too solve that with some superglue & shims of plastic or aluminium though too mount it down better.
Marcus60661 Hey buddy, It could be magnet issue, or armature brushes bad can. but I I’ve used Kyosho speed motors in other cars and they just are poor quality for some reason I promise just a non label silver can mabuchi 540 is better. I’m thinking Kyosho ordered 1000’s of these for kits and the process was rushed on the Kyosho speed ones, I’ve seen some with can itself was non-burred -you slice your fingers just handling. As far as the reissue gears I’m not sure would be nice as the quality of plastic and nylon is better now.
I have the 1990 Kyosho outlaw ultima truck. I love that truck. The outrage looks good to. Nice video like always. On my truck it has flat spots on the tires. Would foams work to fix that or do I need new tires.
Hi sir, So with the tires Kyosho used back then especially these - they have more plastic than rubber in its composition for truck tires. The plastic would lose its strength via gas release and its strength on a micro level would diminish. Foams could help some but you need new ones for total desirability in display and running. If display only foams or insulation spray foam works. Thanks for watching please stay updated on my channel by notification and subscribing. Also Instagram- lukesvintagerccar
LOVING the content you're putting out man, I enjoy seeing these classics being brought back to life. That Kyosho is beautiful, great job! Btw, are you in FL? Some areas you've been to seem like you could be down here.
Agree this one would benefit with a better aftermarket motor, as speed is 17mph. Perhaps a future video with some upgrades if I get more interest on this topic. 1992 Stadium Blitzer video is coming so stay tuned. Cheers
The Tamiya Stadium Blitzer was my first ever rc truck and I remember that it was actually faster stock than I thought it would be.My friend who had a Team Losi JRxT and a Junior T was also surprised how fast it was.It couldn't have been very fast tho with just a stock 540 motor lol
I own the sandmaster ST nitro version of this. I love these little trucks. Suspension geometry mods really help them out
Beautiful Kyosho. Good body restoration. Looks good. Think it says on the motor that it’s a Mabuchi RS540 so not that bad. Just like a stock Tamiya 🙂
Gear sounds remind me of the Tamiya Blitzers 🙂

William Rayborn thanks for sharing 🤙
Nice! That body and those wheels and tires remind me of my first hobby-grade RC (Kyosho Outlaw Rampage Pro).
Frank Schuler that’s a good first one to have 👍
Nice truck i have old traxxas truck are they all this slow with the 540 sz motors? Mine doesn't seem that quick.

How many teeth is the stock pinion gear??
Mine is 15t but I did have 14t it worked great too. Hope this helps
I think it's kentucky back woods hillbilly. So around 10
Great looking trucks but man that performance is worse than the stadium blitzer
