this reminds me of 80s pirate radio playing tunes that mainstream stations over looked. Sound systems get my respect for pushing reggae out to the masses and not getting enough credit for doing it.
off the back of this video i went to see them at moles night club Bath as they were playing... just a week of listening after finding this clip. I wasn't disappointed ... it was brilliant.
Haven't been to Notting Hill Carnival since 2007, and that was on the Monday my birthday. That's when I saw the mighty Jah Observer in action. Might go this year.
Not selfish but somethings belong to us, especially since most of these tunes were made during and because of oppression. Yes, you can be empathetic to our struggles and hardships, but we lived it, and used our music as the foundation of our hope for better days.
Responding to the Pole cat who think Jamaican is not right for carnival stop hating.. Jamaica put the Carribian on the map in everything/everyway ain't nobody thinking about you all get over it thanks in advance..
Chears...I heard them at wee dub 2016...Do you know if it is them with the bass-line that travels from the head to the toes through the spine..... I am trying to find that tune...It is the only tune I have experienced with a whole body travelling BASSLiNE.. Chears
Hi Im making a music video and need some crowd footage of Notting Hill and seen your video, Im not signed or anything just my own music. I wondered if I could use some of the footage from this video?
I have been listening most of the sunds system from the 1960s, and the best sound I ever heard,is King Tubbys. No sounds can match the champion sound King Tubby, although it is not the original sound system in Jamaica, there were several other big sounds systems long before King Tubbys. Sounds like Duke Ried,Sir Don, before even coxsen,I remembered those sunds system from a little boy, DJSlike King Stittch long before uRoy,I heard about Madukey,I never heard him,I just heard about him.But most of the top sounds in Jamaica back then I have heard, played several times.I have see where people is making mistake about dance hall music, how I know how they useto say back in the days. The place that cover top back in the days, they useto called it dance hall, and the place which does not have a cover, they useto called the lawn, a big barbeque, which they useto used bamboo to fence it around. But the dance have a door, and windows with the man at the door. But the lawn they called it gate, and not door. Most of the younger generation believes that they created all these things, everything they does it is all copy from the elders.
These younger generation mashing up the reggae music, they are not listening to the elders. From King Tubbys died you cannot find a next person to full his position in creating new music, only Lee Scratch Perry, but I heard that he is not in the best of mind. But nobody likes the King himself Tubby, all of the other music producer is talking. They all copy King Tubbys, when I told some guys that, they are mad with me. Because they don't know any better at all.
Roots reggae is the right music for carnival trust me ..rastafari lives
