Couldn’t stand Dr Smith. Made it unwatchable. That was when the show was new, BTW. a nerdy classmate would do his Dr Smith panic attack, that was pretty good.

I watched Lost in Space every day after school. I remember telling my aunt one time that: I was going to be on Lost is Space. I was convinced. I told her to watch that with in a couple to a few weeks that I would be on Lost in Space as Will's friend... Never happened, of course. But I have always wanted a full-size version of the robot. I still do!!!
Maybe I still will have one if I could find either one already built and fully working OR a full parts kit and put it together myself at 66+ yrs now.
I know "The B-9 Club" - I could never get a response when I tried to contact them.
Anyway, I only started off with this comment to tell about my telling my aunt that I was going to be on the show in a few weeks... and that's all I got to say about all that.

I’m OG LiS. I remember the excitement for the premier, and how that robot scared the crap out of me premier night. Like close my eyes scared. Anyway, on one of our family trips from SF to LA around 1969ish around the area where there used to be tons of oil rigs, I saw the full size Jupiter 2 sitting flush to the ground surrounded by a bunch of portable buildings. It was and IIRC a radar dish where the dome used to be. 🤷‍♂️ no idea if it was for TV or a movie, but I saw it and it was in view for easily a minute. I was super excited.

My favorite TV Series as a kid growing up in the 60's. I remember being so mad when they cancelled one weeks episode.I managed to find the TV stations phone number, call it, talk to the program director and yell at him. My parents then yelled at me , when they got the long distance telephone bill.
Excellent show I enjoyed your comments film clips and history so much!!
A few questions for your upcoming interior sets. What is that room on the top deck to the left of the elevator that people so often go into and come out of? I own every single tape of the Show and have NEVER seen whats inside. I have speculated that where the chariot is? What are fans thoughts?
Heres another one. on the lower deck there are shown Dr. Smiths cabin, Wills cabin, Pennys cabin and Prof and Mrs. Cabin. Where are Don and Judy?
I have seen one show somewhere , dont ask me where which show the top of the astrogater rising up on a pole so it fits inside the top bubble on the outside of the ship. I know thats not in the Series, but was this something done and perhaps never shot?
I know the interior just doesn't match what its suppose to contain, just physically impossible.

One thing that always made me go "huh?" as a kid was there were about 6 different laser gun props used through the run of Lost in Space. I feel that a deep dive into these would make a fascinating episode! This included pistols, rifles and the rarely seen "knuckleduster" gun. Thanks in anticipation! :)

I love the timeless design of the Jupiter 2. When they made the movie in 1998 and the Netflix series I really wanted them to keep the original design, with a few modern twists. It’s good to know some of the models are still out there. Thanks again for keeping those memories alive.

Really enjoyed this one thanks Dan! One little thing,City Beneath the Sea was aired on TV as a pilot in 1971,and the flying sub was recycled as one of many aqua foil subs that belonged to Pacifica.the old aurora flying sub models were used in this production as the slight in accuracy of the models were hard to miss. The Lyedecker brothers worked their magic on voyage to the bottom of the Sea especially with the flying sub, flying outside in some shots against the real sky, real object and real sky=highly convincing effect

This is so fascinating! I grew up watching LiS on VHS in the 90s (I still have the complete set) and I was also very isolated in my passion for it, none of the kids at school even knew what Lost in Space was - it didn’t show on television in the 90s in Australia. To this day I’m the only fan I know personally. (Except my dad)

Dan, I have some more ideas of Sci-fi TV series you can talk about. First there is the classic Smallville TV series which ran for nearly a decade with ten seasons. Then there is "Grimm" with six seasons. It had a lot of exciting episodes of the Grimm detective and his partner investigating the crimes perpetrated by the Wesen and had to deal with secret organizations. Both Smallville and Grimm weren't suddenly cancelled and had closure to the series at the end. I have Grimm on a boxed set on DVD, and recently watched the whole series again on the CW which is free to watch.
Now I'm currently watching "The Gifted" once again about people that have the X-gene giving them superpowers of some kind but hunted and persecuted by the government. It's also on the CW for free. Please keep adding more of your TV and movie analysis videos. Thanks, and I'm glad I found your interesting channel and had subscribed.

Long story short he helps them escape from the corrupt millionaire who's trying to use their powers for his own purposes. At the end of the movie you find out the kids are aliens and you see them fly off in a ship that looks very much like the Jupiter 2.

When we were kids, my brothers and I would use two paper plates to make a Jupiter2! We used half of a plastic bubblegum toy container for the dome…we used the boots from the Matt Mason toy Captain Lazer boots for the landing gear! When you’re a kid, andyour desperate, and you have a fertile imagination…you make do!

@@krane15 Eartha Kit?? Ugh! Lee Meriwether is attractive and played in the movie because Julie Newmar couldn’t at the time. But Julie Newmar is insanely beautiful, the other two barely count! 😂😂😂

Dan, I was in a Planet Hollywood , I think in Orlando about 15 years ago, and they had a model Jupiter 2 hanging from the ceiling. Since many of their props were real, I assumed it was too. They also claimed, (and had in the lobby) one of Judy Garlands blue / white gingham dresses from the Wizard of OZ, along with many other movie props.

Well, it might have been a bit much to expect the studio to store the full size mock-up of the Jupiter 2.

Mattel toys didn't have a toy drone version of the Jupiter 2. They would have made millions of dollars in sales. (They only made the Roto jet plastic gun) Thanks.

The odd part is that there could not have been a lower level on the ship if you look at the pics. There is no way that lower deck could have housed all sleeping quarters and kitchen with those slanted walls. And where was the chariot stored?

you did it again Dan. This is probably the most concise to the point and detailed information on the subject that I have yet seen. Yes doing the interiors that may be more than one episode.
I'm sure I echo the feelings of many fans in wishing that when the lost in space movie was made it had looked a lot more like the TV show. And sad to say the lost in space movie wasn't very original. It looked way too much like the Star Trek movies and Star Wars. Now how's that for creativity? might as well have stuck with the original Jupiter two, just make it bigger and more detailed and a little more practical and realistic. I can say the same thing about Star Trek even their movies and the spinoff shows.
It is still hard to beat 2001 a space odyssey for a more realistic outer space adventure show.
Thank you again Dan and best wishes to all the other fans on this UA-cam channel.

I don't know. 🤔 It seems to me by just looking at it, it didn't really seem to have enough bottom room for the lower deck?

Your quite right. Remember the episode when Will and Dr. Smith went into the "Power Core" I assume this was the very bottom , but recall how big that was? Just stuff didn't match up
