My original comment was a very upbeat, yay, a cool video kind of comment. Then I watched the video... I was NOT ready for this video. The content hit me hard, not just for rpg stuff, but for real life. I cannot believe how accurate your descriptions of thought processes and situations are. This video has really struck a cord with me and I will re-watch it to absorb it fully.
I made a horrible supplement for Ironsworn/starforged/sundered isles for simulating “””ROMANTIC INTERACTIONS””” after seeing a lewd tabletop rpg thread and I am oddly proud of it, I will publish it somehow. Not for money, but for the power of love.
Happy to say I’ve done the “print, read the whole thing, take notes” bit. Dragging myself through editing. Good luck with your CT surgery, gotta get that myself sometime soon.
I just discovered your channel recently and I love what you’re doing. I’ve “been working on” a solo game for a few months and your content has really kept me motivated!
As someone who is just now figuring out how to GO, this was very helpful. Obviously, by commenting you know I am currently watching this instead of going...
This video is very serendipitous. Im about to sit down and work on a solo for myself while watching you. Joys of watching you follow threw with your dreams and making of games is very much an inspiration. Its a good reminder that sometimes you just need to finish things for yourself.
Very recently I was a little sad feeling like I was trapped in a very logical hamster wheel as an adult with a job based on 1’s & 0’s and I lost all my childlike creativity. I eventually realized the creativity is still there but it comes out at very inconvenient times and it would just get washed away by adult responsibilities over and over UNTIL I did something revolutionary…I found a way to start tracking all of my crazy ideas. Keep it as simple as possible like apple notes, a sticky, a voice memo etc. because ideas exclusively pop up while driving, showering & sleeping. When I finally do have some time I look at my bucket of ideas and expand on it. This has been a lot better than taking those rare moments of free time and trying to summon creativity from nothing. Sorry for the long response, your vid gave me an idea 😁
I think MANY people that are creators or hope to be one would benefit from a voice recorder or an app that does the same. I find myself very often thinking of amazing things and having no pencil or paper next to me or not near a computer im often driving or sadly in the bathroom, sometimes taking a shower. These are my creative locations. Once you get back to your work spot and you lean over to peer into your empty idea basin, pull the recorder out of your pocket
My name is Derrick. I'm not sure how to feel now. Thanks for the video Man Alone! I guess... Good luck with the CT surgery. Sometimes when I watch your channel I imagine you are Steve from Blue's Clues because of the notebook. Heh. Gotta GO now! Aaaand, for my eighth edit: Key takeaways from this video (there are many, these are my top three). #1 - "There is NO work-life balance..." when you are creating something. So true... #2 - If you want to GO, you have to get the gas from somewhere. #3 - Fill up your pockets with cotton candy whenever you get the chance. As always, a trove of useful advice, thanks again!
This vid came in a month too late for me. I already made my own soloRPG! I’m proud of it. I am working on supplementary content, though. Almost completed an NPC generator.
@ I made a fantasy for my game. I was inspired by EZD6, but I wanted a more rules-lite system that I could fit in a page and carry in my pocket for on-the-go. I’m also more of a story roleplayer and wanted a system with no crunch in order to focus more on the storytelling aspects of my solo game.
Video 83 of me liking and then commenting on every new upload to tell the viewers that the Man Alone Podcast is absolutely some of that sweet, unhinged audio/vocal-honey. Psssst. If you were to create a “frankensteined” beast, made up of exactly 3 animals, what would your choices be? What would this purpose of this creation be?
Love the quote, “we’re running a globe here, and we need you to help out”. This is it, we’re all doing this together, we don’t blame the rich and powerful, it’s everyone running the show.
Unfortunately, as stated earlier in the video, none of this content was applicable to me, so therefore I do challenge you to a duel. The weapon: solo RPG. The winner is the person who enjoys their next solo RPG session more. You have one day to respond or your honor is worth it. (Just kidding, I'm only about 20 minutes in but I'm really enjoying it so far! But actually duel me)
In a response to this video I pulled a card.
6 of hearts, the healer.
Makes sense

Good luck and speedy recovery with the surgery MA. 🤞
Your channel is the best.
Did you hear my thoughts last night and make this video just for me?
Have a great day.

One day we shall see all the Solo RPGs that were inspired by this video, and that will be a glorious day. Huzzah, Man Alone!⚔️✨

This is great, MA. Your channel is an ongoing source of inspiration for me in a Leary-ian "Find the others" sense. Very cool.
Incidentally: the Dude Named Derrick = Choronzon, Mister Crowley.

Great video! Very informative and inspiring!
Runequest hype! They have a family history generator, and its glorious.
Dude...amen. Preach.
Get well soon @amanisalone ! Also: love your process and style in explaining it.
This is great. Thank you.

Amazing! Which settings did you create? What was your inspiration?

Sweet. Let's make stuff. Great video, subscribed.

I've coveted my neighbor's cotton candy and I needed to hear about it
dude, it'd be so sick to actually finish something
OK you’ve convinced me…time to release my rpg! It’s called Messaged from the Green and it’s for D&D 5e to maximize profits.

casual Virginia Woolf reference...
