Bro thanks for this; I was struggling with this problem and couldn't fix it, your video helped me a lot bless to you and your family, I really appreciated what you did here on this video, you are a great guy !!
Very detailed video Tutorial. I have a problem while recording my vocals with karaoke music. Whenever i play the recorded vocals, i can still hear the music on it while the music track is muted. I am using a Behringer QX1202 analog mixer and AT1010 condenser microphone. I hope you can help me resolved this issue. It will be a great help for me as a newbie. More power and Thanks in advance.
thanks buddy, it worked fom me one-third of a second was delay, that's way my singing with track was not so melodies, but now very nice result after fixing latency
I'm a semi-beginner and love the way you explain things! I was wondering if you could please please help me. When I record my vocal with piano, whenever I hit return to record over, it starts recording at the end of the song instead of the beginning. Do u know the remedy for this? I'd be MOST grateful! thank you!
No matter how much or little I adjust the latency, nothing changes. The delay is about a second no matter if I adjust to -250 or -25000. Any suggestions? Older versions of Audacity don't have this issue.
Okay, I've spent the last 2 hours trying to fix this - and nomatter how many times I follow these steps it doesn't work, it either over corrects or under corrects. I have to believe this should work because that's what all the other commenters are saying but I can't figure it out. Is it a version issue? Is it my equipment? I just want to record music and with this delay I can't without manually adjusting every single take until I get it right.
for me its like the audio waves are early and messes with how much latency i put in so when i record my audio waves are behind but it sounds almost perfect with the backing track. just hard to have to guess how much latency i should be putting in
So I'm having a problem. I do your method, which seems to fix it, in my case I had to set my correction to -366. Everything's perfect. I deleted the second recording, tried again, and the claps synced. Just to be funny, I decided to delete both recordings and try again from scratch, still at -366, but now it's off again. I do it all again, sync it back, now it was -340, and whaddayaknow, try a third time after that and it's back out of sync. Do I have to do this every single time I hit record, or is my system/pc/audacity/mic scuffed?
Question for you... I'm using an USB audio interface and going bonkers trying to get the latency out. I'm feeding back the headphone from the interface back into the line in on it. No matter what value I use for the latency, it doesn't seem to matter.
@@Maniac2016 Yes, plug the headphones directly into the USB device, not the pc, zero latency. But you have to make you USB device your monitor as well, so when you overdub, it comes out there as well.
No. I need it to sync while I'm tracking obviously. Not just fix it after the fact. I am playing to a recorded click track. It needs to be live simultaneous, no delay, in the act, not after.
in the new version of Audacity we have beat and future so when we click on that the screen shows a head of 4/4 I need to know how to change it to a different situation.
🤬🤬Every time I try to do this, Audacity records on both tracks. how do I get it to record only on one track with two tracks open. I'm using the latest updated version.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I was so sad and frustrated trying to record music but now its fixed!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you!!! God bless you

This was baked into the latest version (not sure why). Just press SHIFT + hit record at the same time and it will start at the beginning.
I cannot thank you enough for this!!!!

My mic doesn't have headphones plug in

@@deepalikhule7482 If your not using an outboard device then following the instructions of this video.
thank you!!!!
When I go Edit>Preferences... There is no option called "Devices." In fact I don't see the word "Devices" anywhere in the entire Audacity program.
Weird I don't have the latency compensation option on my preferences... 2014 2.2.3 version
Will this work for sidetone latency?
