    ships should be craftable in game from refined mined materials or purchased from shops, so the demand for materials comes from getting ships for less than the AUEC cost by buying the materials and crafting it yourself. AUEC cost of ships should be based on three times the cost of buying materials and bulding it yourself up to a cap (under the assumption that if materials get more expensive on the market, the ship manufacturers will do their own mining, which maybe could be influenced by piracy, like the more players pirate in an area, the higher the cost of purchased ships get, therefore increasing the value that materials can be sold for)

    All this means that solo players are going to be seriously gimped. Makes sense sure, but it still sucks for those people so solo players would likely have to seek out more profitable opportunities like salvaging or mining perhaps. Sure it can be a one man job, but your profit is probably going to be rather low compared to those other sources

    • @edwarddomenico9601
      @edwarddomenico9601 3 місяці тому

      How though? Some people enjoy just running cargo for a little payout. And with no buy in for any of the cargo missions, it can be just as lucrative if you can plan correctly. Unlike commodity trading, you aren't at the mercy of not having to have the money up front. I'll give you that from what we saw, there might be better options for making money, but I would contend that this may be better for rep grinds rather than credit grinds. Not everyone is a min/maxxer or even wants to do that every session.

    This might actually be the best SCL I've seen! Both devs were very well spoken, careful to explain everything clearly and tried to anticipate any questions we might have about each step. No messing around, very little hopium/copium, just clearly and simply presented how the new missions are created and intended to function. This is what "open development" should look like IMO; it's not about *me* personally loving everything they add to the game, it's about me being able to understand what's coming, how it functions and why they made it that way.
    More of this please Jared, please!!!

    I like the idea of being able to work your way through the ranks as a hauler pilot. Or even other jobs like a hauler engineer, but you don't have to buy the ships for the work. Instead of earning money to buy a Hull D, you could instead earn the reputation to be trusted with a company Hull D.

    46000 aUEC/hr got it. So not worth playing. Slight sarcasm since we're supposed to ignore numbers but not really...
    So if you played a hour a day every day without fail for a year and hypothetically could do it without ever spending a single aUEC credit (no fuel, repairs, restocking, gear, insurance claims, failed missions, 30Ks, ship upgrades, pirates, or anything else) you still wouldn't be able to buy one C2.
    You can tell me all the numbers are fake all you want. All you are really telling me is you haven't thought two seconds about this and if they have it's a malicious attempt to drive people to the store.

    Does the reward not seem extremely low? 20k an hour seems like pennies and their longer mission was 46k which they were talking about sharing amongst a crew. I'm pretty disappointed honestly that it sounds like going up in rep just means more volume. I was hoping rarer commodities as you went up so you could still run a small ship. I don't care much for the huge cargo ships but sometimes I like to move a little cargo really was hoping some of the higher rep missions would be viable for someone flying a medium sized ship.
    Seeing a little of their evr calculation I'd really appreciate if they increased the whole thing. Mission payouts feel really undervalued. Only things I do that make money anymore are salvaging and bounties but only in ships with a cargo hold to take valuables away. I miss running bounties and service beacons in fighters cuz it was fun and I'd make some money doing it

      I think what they showed was a basic structure outline for generating these missions, not that there wouldn't be low volume/high payout missions. What they showed was a very low risk mission that showed a quick completion time thus the low reward. Missions where more effort would be required to be completed on time would affect how much you are paid for completing them.
      Keep in mind ANY numbers they showed are not final, and if they are too low then they can adjust it to make it more desirable after feedback. Yes currently there are several loops that pay more, but I would wager they are already aware that if they make it too tedious/boring no one will be doing them. CIG aren't stupid and they will revisit things if they have to, as many times as they have to. From everything I gathered from this is many factors are already being considered, amd we don't know the full breadth of what they have planned for these missions yet.

      I'm also not saying they're stupid I just believe that whatever value per time or risk they believe is fair I really do not believe the same. The values they gave in this make me nervous but I already felt that they were not rewarding enough on mission payouts from what is currently in pu. Again if they change payouts for the better soon cool I'll be happy

      @@trichartfix sure and I understood that, but we didn't exactly see them do a small run with high difficuty rating to see how it stacked up against itself. Maybe they will show that during SCL next week. On the rep stuff, the small cargo stuff goes all the way to tier 6 in rep, which could mean(and I hope I'm not coping here) that each level gets more difficult/risky as your rep level increases. Meaning, if you get higher rep with small runs, the mission supplied will be same volume, but higher risk/greater reward. Of course that is ONLY IF I am reading that chart right they showrd in the beginning.

    I wonder if they’ll have it so that when a player sells ore to a refinery instead of refining it themselves, you could buy it and transport it from the refinery

      Pretty sure that will be covered by StarSim once that comes online, as the ore gathered/produced/refined will be factored into the supply/demand throughout the solar system.

    6:56 What's missing here is local delivery _within_ a landing zone (or other large location). I want to have a character that doesn't own a ship, but makes a living a) doing local deliveries, and b) commodity trading. There used to be those kinds of missions in some places, but I guess they were delivery, not hauling.

    • @Billy-bc8pk
      @Billy-bc8pk 3 місяці тому +1

      You can do that now at the distro centres. There are a bunch of delivery missions within the distro centre where you have to move around cargo from one side or section to the other. Mules and Spartans work perfectly for those kind of missions.

    It aound like the smalles ships will be useless here you have a mission 60scu for 5k and your cargo is under 32 the I guess I have nothing That interests me I was hoping for something that will make small scale trading good lets sey 6scu delivery A-B peyout abou 5-10k at least why do we have. I don't want that king of gameplay to be more then wrist of time I would like it if it did not deal like you are getting scraps

    I still think it’s a little ass backwards, without the crafting loops any demand is faked. They seem set on actually having manufacturing or crafting, so why not build that demand, instead we are doing cargo missions for moving things that have no request for those things. I thought they was going to talk about it.
    Fairly play to the dev though, he communicated well and clearly has worked hard in moving things forward.

    • @saltemikereacts

      @Eagle6Airsoft 3 місяці тому

      @@saltemikereacts where do you stop with that justification though, by that same methodology they are justified making only assets and no gameplay, because eventually you need assets to craft right. Thank god they made all 155 ships just incase one day gameplay might use them.

    • @antonivi8968
      @antonivi8968 3 місяці тому

      @@Eagle6AirsoftKinda? They’d have to make the assets eventually. Now they’re already ready to go for the most part for crafting to be added on top of them.
      Same with the ships. Or the new water mechanics with debris in the water and such, even though we can’t swim in the game yet. When we get swimming it will matter a lot more.
      I hate the slow-pacing in many regards, but it’s true all these assets and work aren’t useless, even if they don’t immediately have function. Like all the Knick-knacks that gain usefulness as decorations in personal hangars.

    My guess with the physical appearance of npc haulers, they may be tied to dealing mostly with the routine QOL commodities such as fuel and ammo when a location doesn’t get restocked with a certain timeframe by players.
    Moreover, there is a hint here that you can buy raw ore from locations which you MAY be able refine yourself for a smaller profit then doing both the mining and refining parts but offers an alternative mining route for those who haven’t got their mining ship yet.
