Pregnancy Part 5: The Truth About C-Sections: My C-Section Story | Winnie Wong

  • In this two-part video, I share my personal experience of having a c-section in order to help dispel any fears or misconceptions that viewers may have about the procedure. I understand that not everyone has the privilege of choosing whether or not to have a c-section, but for those who do, I hope that this video can be a source of empowerment for expectant mothers who may feel hesitant or guilty about not having a "natural" birth.
I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. Manahan and his medical team for their professionalism and expertise throughout the process. I have a great deal of respect for doctors and the hard work they put into mastering their field of medicine.
Prior to filming this video, I obtained written consent from Dr. Manahan and Makati Medical
For the privacy of other patients, we have also blurred their faces.
Thank You to Makati Medical and the team who helped deliver my baby:
MMC Department Head: Dr. Mercedita Viduya
Delivery Room Area Manager: Farrah Vissey
    Medical Director: Dr. Bong Javier
    Anesthesiologist: Dr. Gerry De Jesus
    Chief Resident: Dr. Kristiana Calupitan
3rd Year Resident: Dr. Lorraine Ramos
    Anesthesia Resident: Dr. Nicole Cortez
    Intern: Dr. Marc Damil
    Circulating Nurse: Nurse Kristine Fabil
    Scrub Nurse: Nurse Anj

Can’t believe you gave birth because in one of your old videos you mentioned you are considering surrogacy because of your fear of the labor pains. I am proud of you and all women and mothers. Congrats, Winnie!

Dr M. Manahan was one of our Oby gyne resident doctors when i was in MMC as a staff nurse and his dad at that time was a Consultant ( RIP ). Dr De Jesus was a visiting Anaesthesiologist during my time in MMC and he is so pogi, hehe. Im presently working in UK now. Congratulations! By the way, one of the side effects of Morphine is itchiness 😊

First time I heard someone choose Csection for the first baby. Congratulations!! My 3 kiddos are all cs.. first was an emergency cs.. second was elective.. 3rd was emergency cs… and when I had my epi I was lying sideways…
Every csection is different! All my 3 were so so different!
Congratulations winnie and pat! Happy parenting ❤❤

Glad to see how honest and transparent you are with your birthing experience as it brings awareness to women who are hesitant to give birth. Personally, i dont imagine myself going through this whole motherhood thing because i dont have the urge to become one and i feel like thats ok. It’s ok to have choices that go against the grain just like your choice of having a c-section.

    Congrats brave momma!
I had my C section too, in the height of the pandemic (Nov 2022). Gave birth to a 36 week old baby boy. But after 22 hrs, I wanted to see him, so I stood up 😂. After 4 days in the hospital, we all went home, and I am cooking our meals after 😂.

Congratulations Winnie!!! Great job! We, moms, will really do everything for our babies. I remember I had a panic attack before my emergency c-section. I thank God that he calmed me down before the operation. Now my baby is turning 8 mos old. 💗💗💗

CONGRATS WINNIE!!!!! I had a c-section after 2 days of labor because my body wasn't progressing & then my son's heart rate started to dip with the contractions when they were deciding to break my water to try & speed things up. It wasn't an emergency c-section, but a necessary one. I was totally unprepared to give birth that way, but the nurses & lactation consultant were wonderful & kept telling me I did well. One item that helped me SO much was the Boppy pillow. I already had one but after a c-section, your abdomen is so tender that even holding the baby can be painful. This helped me hold him close without pressure on my belly.

It's your body Winnie you don't need anyone's approval to do what makes you feel safe😉 what's important is you prioritize your own and your baby's welfare. Seeing this video traveled me back in time during my c-section and it's not a great experience for me. Having to deal with depression after giving birth and so on. But I'm so happy and content to have my 15 yr old son and an 11 year old daughter, I'm 36 by the way. Always eagerly waiting for your next vlog!🙏❤

C section was the best decision for me. Had it with my son. Epidural is not as painful as what my mom told me before. I didn't even feel it at all. People usually think (mostly boomers and some men) that c section is the "easy way out" but it's not. Thank you for this video. More csection mommies will feel better. ♥️♥️♥️

I also gave birth at MMC and my child also have cord coil. His cord is wrapped twice on his neck and I'm so happy that we were able to take him out safely. Good job on deciding for C section. It's dangerous to push out a baby with coils. The nurses, residents, and everyone else there were so nice and made giving birth less terrorizing. My epidural wasn't traumatizing all because of their team ♥

So great! You're awake during the csection! 😮😮
Me, when i gave birth, csection also. When I lay down, after few minutes i was unconscious. As in, i dont know what happened. Until i heard, your baby came out. After i opened my eyes i felt so low that i still cant move my feet and my enery level is super low.
After that, i was out from the delivery room waiting for my baby. The first time i saw and held her was the BEST FEELING EVER!!! Teary eyed and super happy!!! 😍😍😍 WORTH IT!!! 😍😍😍

    First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!!! 🎉🎉🎉
When it comes to giving birth, I think the woman has the right to choose whatever feels comfortable for her, as long as it is okay-ed by her doctors. And it's so sad that, in this day and age when we're all supposed to be tolerant and open-minded, when a mother gives birth naturally or at home, that makes her a better mother than the one who chose an epidural or the one who went through CS. Like it's a competition. Don't mind the naysayers. It's your life, it's your family, it's your baby. 😊

I also have fear of giving birth because my pain tolerance is low. But I am more afraid of CS coz I know I will be cut open and the thought is even more scary. I had a normal delivery and thankful it was only short labor. So Kudos to you for doing CS!!! Congratulations and welcome to the hood! 💖
