He is the King!
I've had loads of teachers.... Thanks to Scott it all means something.... For real.... Been playing for thirty years... Never been so excited.... Loving it...!!!
”Play like you want people to hear it”.
Definitely need to think about that more!
Thank you
That's the secret!
Scott is one of the best teachers out there. I highly recommend his sax school
Thank you Felix! Glad to hear you are enjoying the Sax School
For those like me, nervous about doing a recital, this was inspiring. Thanks.
Glad it helped! Here are a couple strategies for playing when nervous.
1. Change your mindset - The audience is lucky they get to hear your play! You're excited to get to perform for them. You've worked hard, and now you get to share all of your hard work.
This next one is going to sound a little crazy, but it's very helpful - practice playing under stress - go for a short run and then immediately pick up your sax and start playing. You'll be out of breath and a little jittery. It won't feel good at all, but this will prepare you for how you might feel when you are nervous. So run around the house or up and down the stairs a few times until you are just a little out of breath, then pick up your sax and play your recital piece. I know this sounds crazy, but it will let your mind & body know what it's like to perform under stress. So when the recital comes, if you feel a little nervous, it won't throw you off too bad.
This post helps - love the UA-cam content and your course! 🇨🇦
All I have to say is Thank you so much! I had a 29 year break from playing my sax and getting back to playing again. Your video has been very helpful and I'm a subscriber to your channel! I plan on enrolling to your school after summer is over with ❤
For my Own Honest Opinion, For all the teachers that I have ever heard. You Scott has the best and simplest approach in which it makes it very easy for the listeners and students to understand. LOVE YOUR VIDEOS since 3 years ago
Thank you so much! And I really appreciate your support!!
Great suggestions
This is a good video please make series about this concept.❤
Hey, I teach this concept in just about every song lesson in my Sax School - especially in the Early Intermediate courses. I also break down jazz articulations so you know exactly how to play the unwritten rules of articulation.
Another game changer video! Thanks Scott! So simple but never talked about! Love it!
Yeah, this is simple one to put into practice! Thanks
Thank you Scott! Very helpful information has always!
I just came back from playing a gig at a cultural event. I was only supposed to play 1 set, but the organizers asked me to play 2; 1 before the main event and 1 set after. For the "unprepared" set I chose songs that were not difficult to play, so I could play with confidence and it went over really well.
That's awesome! Congrats Rob!
What songs did you choose to play?
@@valerhy6041 On alto: a latin medley plus Island Dream (Brian Culbertson), What a Wonderful World, Stand by Me, Do You Remember, Feliz Navidad, Silent Night, When You Wish Upon a Star and on soprano: a Christmas Medley.
@@valerhy6041 I played a latin medley plus Island Dream (Brian Culbertson), Smooth, I Wish and What a Wonderful World,

Epic tutorial excellent .my playing has no meaning to it sounds like another scale now ,you hit the nail on the head .no messing around ,this will give my playing more punch 🤛.I’m on a downer with my playing ,this opens up a new way to go about it in making my playing have more vitality.and life .and meaning
Hey Paul! You're not alone in that attitude. You've put in a lot of work, play it like you and mean it, and you're having fun!!
Muito bom! Tem me ajudado bastante a melhorar minha performance! Obrigado!
Oi Paulo, saxofone baritono aqui. (Santa Catarina)
Hey Scott! Great video and the song choice is a pure classic. I’ve been in the market for a tenor sax and I fell in love with the model you use. It’s a P Mauriat PMXT-66RX if I’m correct and I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. As a professional, what are the pros and cons and anything else to note that you’ve come across? Love your videos! Keep on doing what you’re doing
Hey! Yes, that's the one I play. I love it!! It's my favorite tenor that I've ever played. If I had it to buy again, I probably would not buy the unlacquered version of it. I think it looks cool, and it plays great, but it takes a lot more maintenance because of the no protection. Mainly the blue corrosion. It comes off with no problem, but it's something I don't have to think about with the dark lacquer saxes.
Nice video again!
I’m working on Georgia (Gerald Albright version) it’s very hard! It forces me to work on my altissimo also. Which my bottom lip hates 🤣😂
That is one of my favorite Gerald Albright tracks, and version of Georgia, and yeah, that's a tough one! Good luck
..make a circle with your thumb and index finger... Now blow air threw them... Hold them out further and blow through them again...
(also harmonics... Bottom be... Fifth. Octave. Upper third)
@@patrickkelcey2435 Thank you! I will do this 🙏🏽
