Great video as always. For me Ocean is perfect for my level of diving, progress plans (future cerificates) and all day rounder. Especially, I don't have dive computer yet, this would be perfect first computer I think.

I love my Suunto Ocean. I baucht it 2 month ago in Bundle with the Tank POD. Im very happy. I swithed from an Apple Watch and be so happy I did it. I love the Great battery life and the Fokus on Fitness/Sports and not on smart Features (I deactivated the Phone notification). I would buy it again.

Definitely the Suunto, as I'm on Android for my phone, and the price point is half that of the Garmin and good for all my recreational diving needs. The Garmin would be best for tech diving.

I am planning to buy the Suunto Ocean because of the following:
    1) Simple slick design, no fuzz
    2) I have dived with the Ocean and the AMOLED is really amayzing under water
    3) I am not planning to gontec diving, so suited for my activities.

Thanks for the video. I was looking for a video like that, giving a complete view of the Suunto Ocean, which could be my first diving watch. Answering to the contest, I would pick the Suunto Ocean, because of its good value for many, and because it keeps information legible and simple, while still having air integration, a compass, etc. Also because I could use it for cycling and other outdoors activity. I don't mind for smartwatch features.

Bought a Suunto Ocean about a month ago, the product immediately presented the following problems: 1) sleep monitoring does not work; 2) absolute imprecision in detecting heartbeats; 3) imprecise GPS track on forest routes; 4) dive alarms barely audible. Finally, the Suunto writing engraved on the metal case was erased after just 30 days. When I contacted the assistance service they did not offer any valid alternatives either in terms of repair or replacement. Much better Garmin...goodbye

If I was buying a watch style dive computer right now, I would 100 % go for the Garmin mk3. I purchased a new dive computer a few months ago and went with a Shearwater instead of the Garmin for budget reasons.
I wear a different Garmin watch every day and use it for a wide range of activities. I just love their quality which is certainly also present in the mk3.
My wife had the Apple Ultra 2 and for a dive computer it is like the most basic you can go. Fine for recreational dives, absolutely. But still not worth the money.

Personally the Garmin seems to be fit for literally every sport you can do adventurously. But the Suunto is perfect from just diving. I use the Apple Ultra 2 with Oceanic and it’s just simpler for me now. Btw I just finished my AOW last month. So still new to the Diving World.

We just got the Fenix 8, so too late for this video unfortunately. A comparison video of smartwatches & dive computers is in the works at the moment. The Suunto Ocean is $900 and the Fenix 8 is over $1000 so it's actually more expensive.

@@DIVEindotcom glad to hear. Adding diving to its top sell universlal model like Fenix shows that now rec dive became normal sport whitch can be support by normal sport device. So there will be problem with selling basic dive computers just for dive.

I would probably go for the Garmin Descent MK3i from these 3, though it is in an entirely different price category from the Suunto.

I’ve owned numerous Suunto computers. The cobra, cobra 3, spider, and mosquito. Thought they were all great, but it seems to me the functionality of the Garmin is just too good. I would choose the MK3, but I wouldn’t cry if I opened up the Suunto ocean on Christmas morning.

i would choose definitely the Garmin, and already did... have been using it since the mk1 and had all the descents so far. it is reliable and i trust it, just the compass thing convinced me Suunto are not what they used to be. Not to mention i use Garmin pay on daily basis and the music is a nice touch, also the dive maps are useful to some extent.

I have the Ocean, considered the Mk3 but it was just too expensive for me as a recreational diver. Ocean is a beautiful watch, although the OHR during land exercise is rubbish and a proper chest strap is needed. The Suunto app is kinda cool too for keeping track of weekly targets - e.g., cardio, strength, mobility, flexibility activities.

I feel like mk3i is currently in its own league. Above water, I’ve used garmin’s ecosystem for the longest time. JUST got my first ever dive com - Suunto Ocean - before this video. Was genuinely struggling between Ultra, Mk3i, and Ocean but went with Ocean ultimately because:
    1) price is more acceptable
    2) Dive route tracking which is very impt to me
    3) I’m just a newbie only got my AOW not long ago and generally don’t get to dive frequently so I don’t need something technical (Mk3i) but at the same time the thought of requiring an App just to dive is quite annoying (Oceanic app with Ultra).
Haven’t gone for a dive to test the watch but am excited to try it! Perhaps as I acquire my skill sets and get more technical, might consider Garmin descent series in the future!!

What I learned looking at the manuals is, that compared to the Garmin, the Suunto will give you much clearer and unmistakeable instructions when you screwed up and need your dive-computer to actually save your life underwater. For me, that's a big plus.

An air integrated dive computer that does NOT let you see/show your remaining air pressure at all times (e.g. when using the compass, or viewing other data) is a deal breaker for me. Absolutely NO customization option of the dive screen on the Suunto is a great oversight, and would have been so easy to add as it is just a software issue. I understand they went for simplicity, but they overdid it and compromised safety imo. Although much more expensive, Garmin Mk3i all the way. If you don't want air integration, I would go for the Garmin Fenix 8 (which works for scuba down to 45m).

It is a very difficult decision, Garmin or Suunto. Apple is not an option - because Apple. In favour of Garmin, especially mk3, is the fact that they also have the 43mm version. On female wrists, 51mm looks over-deminised. For this reason, I decided in favour of the Garmin. Even though I have had Suunto dive computers before and know that they are very simple and easy to understand.
