I wrote this as a response to someone who deleted his post before I could finish writing this novel. Sorry for length, but I don't want to just delete it, so here it is: Zappa is his own genre, and highly, though not exclusively, focused on polyrhythms. The closest analogue to a piece such as Night School would probably be film music, which makes sense because Frank was a filmmaker during the whole of his career. "Night School" was the name of a proposed late night talk show (for lack of a better term) Zappa proposed in his autobiography. This composition could be considered the theme music for that show. Frank composed this piece entirely on the Synclavier, which could reproduce extremely difficult time signatures and counterpoints perfectly. It takes great skill and heart for this young man to play along to the album version.
That was friggin awesome... Great rendition ... I have always enjoyed listening to that piece by frank and you showed true " zappaesque" technique... Thanks so much for keeping his music ALIVE..
