    This is why people started loving cars. I hope some manufacturer out there is listening and realizes true driving enthusiasts don't care about the performance as much as the experience. Cars like this can teach so much to modern machinery that are so much better at everything, except actually at being fun.

      unfortunately true driving enthusiasts make up a very small percentage of the people who buy sports cars, especially the high end ones. I would stand by saying that the average customer of a new Bugatti is not a true enthusiast, and rather just someone with too much money to spend

Unique and epic drive - and I will echo another post by saying that THIS and others like it are what driving is all about - the sensation, the feeling, the raw connection to the car....NOT pure stats and 0-60, 1/4, handling numbers, etc. etc. That is why Aston is revered today: they are not the fastest, but that is besides the point. Fantastic video Matt...your smile says it all.

    • @Cursalock
      @Cursalock 8 років тому +7

      The first supercharged engine was created in something like 1880, and the first production cars had them in the early 20s. A lot of car technology that you think of as "modern" is actually quite old. The first DOHC car was produced in 1912, for example, even though most people think "pushrod is old, OHC is modern".

      A 1920's equivalent to the Hayabusa would be the Brough Superior, No? And if you want forced induction like the Buggati then you should be looking up DKW SS 250 or 350 and the absolutely gorgeous 1939/51 BMW RS255 supercharged Rennsport ;-)

      Well, if there's 25 originals, then that's 25 people who will be upset, but on the other hand there's all the other people in the world who are now more likely to get to see one drive past. So, I'd say on balance it's better that these Pur Sangs exist.

      Not to the tiny handful of collectors who would ever buy one of these in the first place. Original always command a premium. Original AC cobras are still worth a mint even though there are 10,000 replicas driving around.

      I would imagine they'd be fine, as modern gas is better quality than gas they had in 1925.

      CockatooDude, Yes but older vehicles needed leaded fuel to protect the valves. The lead acted as a lubricant. Modern gasoline would destroy those old cylinder heads if they dont have hardened valve seats.

    isn't this the definition of a replica? Did Ettore Bugatti himself crawl out of the grave and have anything to do with this? NO it's a replica! we're taking the guy in the fedora word that it is the exact same.

    • @Beer_Dad1975
      @Beer_Dad1975 8 років тому +2

      No two Bugatti's were ever the same anyway. But yeah, I agree this was not made in the Bugatti factory in the 1920's, therefore it is by definition a replica no matter how faithful it is to the original.

    • @arthuralford
      @arthuralford 8 років тому +4

      Yes, it's a replica. But you know something? I don't care. If it drives like the real thing, makes the same sounds, has the same feel, that's what matters.

    • @Mooselover1011
      @Mooselover1011 8 років тому

      No... a replica doesn't have to have all the same parts, it usually just has to LOOK like the original. Like a factory 5 Shelby Cobra is a replica because you put whatever you want into it. This is as if Etorre Bugatti made more cars, as they are manufactured EXACTLY like they were in 1927. That makes it exact. Another company does this, Superformance, which Matt featured on this channel. Ford actually acknowledges the GT40's that company makes as legitimate GT40's, with their own chassis code and everything. So a replica is usually modern parts with an old body, or original parts that you put in a replica body. Which would be illegal in some states.

    • @BlagovestZlatev
      @BlagovestZlatev 8 років тому +16

      No, it's a recreation. A replica should just look like the car, a recreation is the same exact car. There is quite a difference.

    • @XoVoX
      @XoVoX 8 років тому +3

      Look up the definition of replica. This is the definition of a replica, to a T. I get that Pur Sang always works to distinguish what they do vs other replica companies in order to justify their high price (which is fairly justifiable); however, its still a replica.

    • @mattwasilewicz9677
      @mattwasilewicz9677 8 років тому +11

      I think the people that build these types of cars try very hard to not call them replicas because of the stigma associated. When I hear replica, I think of some kit car Shelby Cobra or some POS Fiero with a Ferrari body kit. I think recreation is a suitable term for a car like this.

    • @whelk
      @whelk 8 років тому +2

      Agree, exact replica is the proper term. Recreation is marketing speak. In any case it's an awesome piece and quite an accomplishment to build. The shear craftsmanship is amazing.
