For the record, I WANT Rey to be liked. I want her to be a great character. But we're not there yet, and Kathleen Kennedy is not doing anything to fix this. She is willing to lose countless fans just to make sure her priorities are addressed. Also, this is a super long video and it's not super interesting, but thank you for watching anyways. I put more effort into my words than the editing this time.
I agree Kathleen's rhetoric against men has gone too far. However, I love the sequels because I love the characters. I wish the stories were written better, but I still have joy. The fans kill it for me at times. Jon you are very positive in your criticism. Some of the fans are cruel.
Yeah, for me, too the characters make the sequels worth watching. No, their arcs aren't well written, but the actors all do a fine job and they have lots of charisma. It's probably some of the best acting in the whole saga, to be honest. The prequels were a mixed bag of acting and awkward dialogue, and the original trilogy was a bit all over the place in quality. I appreciate your kind take on this, and my own opinions! I try to be fair. I don't always do a great job of this, though
@JonHandEntertainment Great take on all the star wars movies. None of them were perfect, but what movie is. Everything is so subjective. I wish we could all have fun. Kathleen Kennedy has made mistakes, but it is over a fictional property. These movies have no effect on people's lives. Yet everyone including those who are positive about her work take it so personal. Last rant of the day, I promise. Time to take my advice and not take it too personal and have fun.
I agree. Rey can be a likable character but she had the fastest character development in star wars history. She learned the force in the first movie without being told about it. Although there are many good and entertaining scenes, it could have been a lot better.
I don't think people understand why male fans were upset by that. Male fans have always loved Leia - it was because it meant Obi-Wan leaving Luke, which seemed like a manufactured crisis. Leia hid in plain sight, Luke would have been easier to find because he lived in a place familiar to Vader. Also, the writing on that show is absolute trash, except for some scenes with Leia and and Kenobi, and Vader and Kenobi.
@@JonHandEntertainment There's no indication in A New Hope that Obi Wan and Luke had any real bond before the movie. Leia at least knew him or knew of him and you could infer things from her message. And all I saw were fans freaking out that yet again females were "replacing" males. That alt right nonsense.
It's not about a bond, though, it's about intent. Obi-Wan specifically chose to stay close to Luke for a reason. Remember, Obi-Wan later showed to only have faith in Luke to save the Empire, but Yoda said "there is another," and he was referring to Leia in that moment. I think Obi-Wan assumed Leia would fight politically like her father. I think you fixated on a minority of people, honestly. Most male friends I have disliked the show for completely unrelated reasons. like I said - the trash writing/directing.

rey character will never be liked she stole legacy can learn and do anything without training hated forever
Well, we shall see! She is liked by many, but also disliked by many.

Thanks for this Jon! I don’t agree with everything here, but you are very good at discussing topics fairly and kindly. 👍
Hey, thank you for checking out the video! It's a bit long, I know. And thank you for the kind words! ☺️
Rey, who? 🤔
Rey-definitely-not-a-Skywalker-and-definitely-a-Palpatine?

100% agree. She had potential and so far it's been wasted. This is why I want a second shot at the character
I disagree with her learning too fast. Luke learned fast with minimal training.
@@aprilnewell5434 he had yoda
@@Tanimanguy They gave her luke and leia
@aprilnewell5434 she didn't train until the second movie
They destroyed the franchise. They could have done Luke trilogy and killed it.
How would they have done a Luke trilogy? Recasting him?
I adore Luke, but he had his trilogy.
Exactly. If you wanna recast him and do a prequel project, go for it, but that's the past
Bad thing, Disney made her not interesting
That's fair. You think they could turn it around?
I thought male Star Wars fans were fine with female characters, until they threw yet another fit when the Obi Wan show dared to focus on Leia at all.
