Im from Europe, but living in Margarita since 1998 i can assure you that the island today, is not even the shadow it once was. For me its still the best place on earth for living, but knowing how it once was like 20+ years ago its really sad. Water Park ,Diverland, Big Hotels complexes like Laguna Mar and other, Shopping streets like Av. 4 de Mayo or Av. Santiago Marino,Central Porlamar boulevards etc, are now abandoned and looking like post-apocalyptic ghost towns.
Thank you for an honest review. Having visited a few times last 20 years- last one being in 2022; I fully agree with your Judgement at all compartments. Security particularly seems to improve even better according to my wife who visited this summer which is promising to attract foreigners. As for Nomads, investing on inverter against power cuts could be a simple fix- not a road blocker in my book.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience! It’s really helpful to hear from someone who has visited over the years and seen the changes firsthand. And you're absolutely right. I appreciate you taking the time to add to the conversation 😁 have a great day!
As a Venezuelan I can only feel a sense of pride with your review of Margarita. However, your comments are not a deterrent of the negative things being said about the country or the traveling warnings, issued by many nations.
Thanks for your comment. I appreciate what you say, but remember that this trip occurred during a time when there was only slight warning of any threats in Venezuela. Things have changed now, I admit, so if I was to do another recording, I'd need to mention the current situation. I do however believe that there are mostly good people all over the world that just want to get along, ruined by a few bad people. I prefer to focus on the positivity from my adventures, but I respect that maybe this doesn't paint the full picture and quite rightly, you have pointed this out. Thanks for your input 🙂 it is very much appreciated!
I am happy I found your review. My wife and I were there in 1992 and had an amazing vacation. Then at some point we heard everything about the place fell apart and were told it was finished as a tourist destination. Looks like my information is out of date now. I will do more research and might consider going back. I remember the food there was fanatic.
I can only imagine how amazing it would have been back in 1992, but for sure I would say it is a place you can definitely enjoy a holiday there. In fact, I saw a number of open hotels. The food is still fantastic, the locals are still welcoming. I do hope you make another visit 😄 thanks for your comment
Very strange.. The fuel was cheaper than water when I was living there back in 2007. From the UK I was working as a diving instructor and loved the island until I had a very bad experience with corrupt police and was held at gunpoint until I gave them money 😢 was a very scary experience and I left the island within days after. It's a shame as I had made some really good friends when I was there.
Good point, this will depend on individual to individual. I was staying at a friend's place, and the internet was very good, provided the power was working. I would presume hotels are pretty good too.
Sorry about the bad experience you had with that dog, perhaps giving some treats to gain his friendship?? Just thinking load. I had similar experience with a dog and I know it could be so annoying
I would say yes, as long as you have money already, I don't imagine finding a job there would be easy plus the salary would be bad in comparison to a North American or European salary. I would certainly consider it!
You are right! Well spotted. I am trying to find where I got my statistics here because during my research that is what I kept seeing and now that I am searching for it, I cannot seem to find it again. How very strange! Thanks for spotting this, I need to be more vigilant with my research in future!!
I'd say the island is pretty clean to be honest. I was staying at my friends place and her apartment was very clean, but I would imagine it is the same with the hotels too. The bugs are just a side effect of being somewhere so tropical, it is unavoidable to not see them when you are outside. I will say, they are absolutely massive 😂 so you won't miss them, that's for sure! I think you'll be fine, just make sure you have your bug spray at the ready! 😉
The food options are amazing. Sea food is the most likely you will find and typical Venezuelan food such as arepas and empanadas, but you'll also find Italian food, turkish food, Mexican food and your usual fast food offerings. The supermarkets are also very good and can get a wide variety of products there too. Actually, in some cases I would say even better than what we get in Europe!
Ohh trust me, I wish I was paid 😂 no, I do it for the love of travel. Yes, there are blackouts, I mention this, but if this is your biggest concern, it might be better to stick to the typical resorts in the usual travel destinations 🙂 absolutely no shame in that, but for those that want to explore something a bit different, this is what this video / my series was for. Either way, take what I say with a pinch or salt and use your own judgement, this was my honest review and what I learned was, no matter where you go in this world, people aren't that different, we mostly all just want to get along and enjoy our lives. I appreciate that you thought I was paid for this though 😂 I'm just a small UA-camr with under a 1000 subscribers making content for fun 😊
¿Por qué? Estoy en el exterior y me encanta este tipo de cosas. Venezuela es más que Maduro y la lucha política; es más, una vez salgamos de la tiranía toda esa energía será necesaria para reconstruir un mejor país.
It makes me very happy to see yet another excellent and honest review. Thank you and hope to see you around. Saludos.
Thank you for your kind words, it was an absolute pleasure 😀 I'll be back!
Excellent comment on Margarita. I visited this island about 15 times.
I'd love to be back there! What an amazing place

Sad to hear, but yes. Let's hope that the future is bright for this incredible place 🙏🏼
What about the women

It was an honour! I hope to be back again one day 🙏🏼

I'm sorry to hear you had that experience, that's awful. I believe things are better now, never heard a story like that before
@@Davantsi it's good to hear things are improving now 🙌
Super
You forgot to mention if the nternet is good and reliable.

Thanks for the honest and good review, you should call it Isla de Margarita
Gracias señor, y usted es??

This is genius! How did I not think of this? 😂 Next time I'm in Venezuela I'll try it and report back!
Would you say it’s a good place to live long term for a expat?
I would say yes, as long as you have money already, I don't imagine finding a job there would be easy plus the salary would be bad in comparison to a North American or European salary. I would certainly consider it!
02:05 you don’t mean €3,20per litre but €0,30per litre!!!

Bugs crawling everywhere? Any flat / house available without that nuisance?😊

This is not an honest review. This is a paid influencer review. Good luck with no tuning water and black outs.
